Great advice, Jon! You listed all the reasons why I'm not a musician; I just play my music at home😂. I hope you, your family, and home are safe from the L.A. wildfires. Thanks for posting!
John my routine is almost the same ... Except I eat salmon and a little rice, then I lay down and rest with my guitar on my chest fiddling in my bed, with my stage clothes on. Anticipating the night. Then when it's time. I'm ALL THERE.
Along with double checking your gear, have a plan to deal with at least some issues. If your mic goes out, with which other band member will you double up? I had the power supply on my pedal board go out once, so I just plugged my guitar straight into my amp. Expect problems and adjust as needed.
I remember one time while playing 'No Matter What' by Badfinger, I came in on the guitar solo slightly late and in the wrong key. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me, I was so embarrassed. After the song, the drummer shouted to the audience if they spotted the deliberate mistake and it wasn't him.😂😂
One time we were playing and a guy came up and said here's 20 dollars ..play sweet home Alabama. And another guy behind him said... Here's 40 not to play it,... We played it. Hahaha. True.
