    It's a Gasifier Stove. The way I understand them to work is that you start the fire, the heat super heats the double sided walls, the super heated air rushing up the double sided walls actually causes the fire to draw from the bottom thereby drawing the smoke and Wood gas up the side walls and back out the jets, to be burned again. You could see the jets burning around the inner top. These stoves are very efficient because UNLIKE my hobo stove, much of my wood gas just floats away with the heat and the smoke , unused and wasted. I like the concept of gasifers but I rarely use mine. Thanks!

    I have a similar knock-off stove. I got a computer fan guard to support small pots and use as a grill if necessary. Thank you for the video, Morgan

    Your Solo Stove was way to shinny at the beginning , LOL
    After several years I found a simpler additional fuel source method for mine thanks to a TH-cam video ( Alternative fuel source for a bush buddy ). I leave the Trangia ( alcohol burner ) home since it is not needed as the alternative fuel source. ONLY the Solo Stove and the Bush Buddy can do this since both stoves are basically the same. I'm sure the manufacture does not suggest / recommend / authorize doing this but it works really well. In my Solo Stove Lite I put about 3/4 of a ounce of denatured alcohol in the ash pan in the bottom of the stove. Light it and turn the Solo Stove Lite into a alcohol stove for a quick pot of boiling water. This way I do NOT have to carry an additional alcohol burner to use in the stove. 3/4 of a ounce will boil two cups of water in a few minutes.

    The SOLO Stove is one of only a few stoves I don't own. I'd love to add one to my stove collection. Thanks for the overview, Morgan, and greetings from Pittsburgh. Laura

    I purchased one some time ago along with companion pot that all nests together. Having used fold-ups, I like this a whole lot more. Plus, it takes up less space than a fold-up and pot combination. With the added benefit of storing small items inside. Firestarter perhaps? In my opinion, well worth the cost.

      I agree, I like this a whole lot more than a fold up. You could definitely store firestarters in there, great idea!

    Great review, really liking this stove. I guess it would be simple to use a alcohol burner simply by placing it on the grill?

    • @RoguePreparedness
      @RoguePreparedness  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you could do that, for sure. Definitely something to test out.

      Armed Rogue How does it compare to the hobo stoves?

    • @RoguePreparedness
      @RoguePreparedness  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boodieman72 well, they're both good, one is DIY and one is professionally made. But the solo stove was very impressive.

      Armed Rogue Solo Stove touts the gasification aspect.

    I have one and built one and will admit the Solo stove works better. With how big it is I don't really consider it backpacking but it is a fantastic alternative cooking method for home use should you run out of gas fuels.

    What kind of plate is it you have placed between the pot and the stove at 2:12??

    • @RoguePreparedness
      @RoguePreparedness  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry, I'm honestly not seeing what plate you're talking about. There's the solo stove and a knife, that's all I see.

    Hey Morgan, looks like you lit your stove with a little piece of Hemp wick, or was that just jute twine? I wrap all my lighters in beeswax impregnated Hemp wick to extend the Butane. I've got the Solo Stove also; it nests perfectly in my Solo Pot 900. Its a great combo item. Hey, thanks for the video!

    • @RoguePreparedness
      @RoguePreparedness  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +William Burr it's jute twine with little bit of wax. I didn't make it, though. :) It's a pretty neat stove! Thanks for watching!

      Rogue Preparedness at 2:08 there is something red or orange between your stove and the pot that did not come with my stove. Is that attached to the pot? Which cook pot are you using?

    • @RoguePreparedness
