Pipa virtuoso Wu Man moved from China to the U.S. in 1990. In this video, she discusses how she learned to play the pipa, a Chinese lute, and about joining the international Silk Road Ensemble. She explores her role as a musician navigating between cultures.

I am an OUD player (started 5 months ago) and the first time I knew about the "pipa" was yesterday .. and I thought it will be a good fusion " OUD & Pipa " then I found this video and I found another one it was ( OUD , Lute & Pipa ) ...don't know what to say except : all of this left me speechless !!!

Not really, they both originated from Central Asia. Guitar got modernized in the west while pipa got inherited in the East.
Pipa playing is combined with the spirit of Confucianism and Taoism. It is not a melody, but a spiritual manifestation!
