💃 Colombian cuisine is often judged unfairly by foreigners who expect exotic dishes but fail to appreciate the home-cooked meals or higher-end restaurants.
💰 Colombia is classified as a middle-income economy with rich natural resources, but faces challenges like corruption and a struggling education system.
🚨 Despite safety concerns, Colombia is safer than many U.S. cities, and visitors should be aware of cultural safety practices to avoid risks.
👩🦱 Colombian women are more than just beautiful; they are strong, independent, educated, and passionate individuals who offer much more than just their looks.

Been living in Colombia for 3 months and met the most amazing woman with no problems
they are all amazing until their not I bet she is single mother and your a simp just little joke
If you are worried about crime, then you should get out of the US, fast!
you are right... its way more dangerous here.
Such a silly comparison. In the US you don’t have to hide your iPhone when outside or “stick to Uber instead of yellow cabs who might set you up”
The real median income in Colombia is much less than mentioned. Only 10% of Colombians earn more than 4 million pesos per month.
Right that's why (like I said in the video) the average yearly ranges from $4,466 and $13,845.
I feel like people go looking for the low life’s and get surprised when they find them.
Great video and asessment of the misconceptions of Colombia!! I especially appreciated the one about women!! I am colombian and I still think Colombian food is delicious! Nothing beats an arepan con quesito in the morning or an assortment of pandequesos and pandebonos that we have!
Thank you! I
SanBernardino CA. 1 in 77 people are victim of violent crime annually. Give or take. Highest murder rate in California along with Oakland I believe . I don’t go to the barbershop without my gun.
The sad part is that third world is a term from the 1950s Cold War, which was given to countries that did not want to take sides in the conflict between the United States (1st World) and the Soviet Union (2nd World). Third world wasn't intended to describe any county's economic status. Another example of how people have rewrote history.
Appreciate your videos man. Finally someone not paranoid and being fair and balanced about Columbia. All countries have their own+ /-. Just stay humble and make no dumbs moves/mistakes as you travel and all will be fine people.
Yessir. It's definitely dangerous, but you can limit the danger.
Is Colombia a good place for single American women to retire if they only have pensions or social security to live on? Are there many American or European expats?
Yes, I know a few here. You can check out the expat groups on Facebook; there's a women's group there. You can also check out the groups on WhatsApp at MDEcommunity.com.
I really enjoyed watching this, and it reinforced my desire to discover Colombia and see as much of it as possible. It seems such a wonderful country!
I appreciate the kind words. You’re going to love it!
I am very impressed by this man's thought provoking insights into life in Colombia. I aprreciate that he is not shilling like most youtubers that promote Colombia.
Appreciate it.

Thank you! 🙏
Great video, I travelled around Colombia and had some great food that was very affordable! As you mentioned it's all about where you go.
El respeto por nuestro hermosísimo país goes behind the usual narco fantasy: I lovey country 🙏🦋🇨🇴
Among Colombia
Loved the video ❤
Thank you 🙏
It's funny how people think every hot woman is trying to rob you. Especially when it's said by people who never traveled 😂
I like your takes about Colombia as a whole and the women in specific, i can strongly agree to this as a gringo. If you don't care for strong minded woman with a fiery personality this is not going to be the place for you. As someone that has been to Colombia a couple of times i can confirm it's totally worth it. I consider it a country with high potential.
Awesome thanks for the insight.
I'm from filadefia en EEUU .I have been coming to medellin since 2009. I own 3 properties en Barrio Florencia with my girlfriend. Very nice assessment and I agree with everything you said. I do not have a cedula but i have a vank account. It is definitely not a third world country.
That's awesome! love it!
Agreed I’d say it’s a 2nd world country if that’s a thing. Or maybe the government determines weather the whole country is 1st or 3rd world.
Great content and awesome editing too hermano! I loved the pacing.
Thanks!
Always good and informative content.
just noticed that all the signs are backwards, isn't there a way to flip the video???
Great stuff! Gracias, hermano. Keep it coming.

ive been to colombia many times and know what you say is true, on all points!
Awesome! Thanks
Are you going to talk about what’s going on with Sura and colombia health care ???
I’m reading up on it now to be able to talk about it on my next livestream.
It is often said that everything happens for a reason. I think you were deported from the United States so that you could be a bridge between Colombia and the rest of the world, especially the Gringo world. Excellent commentary.
Thank you so much!
“Can’t handle a strong woman”? Lol
If you cant handle a colombian women you def couldnt handle a real mexican women.and i dont mean no diss the colombianas they are more chill.but mexicanas want you to work 24/6 yes 6 days out of the week and bring in a big check .

When I visited Colombia, in a safe neighborhood, someone got robbed at knife point in front of our hotel.
My wife is Colombian, her family friend in Colombia got stabbed for her AirPods.
Be very careful, especially dating women. They’ll drug and rob you.
These are not misconceptions, sorry.

Awesome video! Great to hear a realistic view of a country that has many misconceptions.
Thank you 🙏
OMG i finally found a Colombia vlogger who confirms that Colombia - apart from being a wonderful country in many ways - is ALSO an LDFG country with bland cheap food! Thank you for being HONEST and not gaslighting me. SUBSCRIBED!! 👍🏽
Yep, it doesn't take a long time to realize what Colombia is really like. If you've spent any extended period of time you know.
@MedellinBuzz I have been living in Barranquilla since Nov. 2022 (not counting April, May, and June of same year). It took me just a few months to realize that most Colombians lie as easily as they breathe. And that words like "honest", "loyalty", "monogamy" "seasoning", "spice", and "schedules" mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to them (might as well be speaking Swahili to them at that point). But, when I tactfully and sincerely made that observation to some expats (and a few locals), they not only sh!t on my questions, they proceed to GASLIGHT ME!! Made me question by 5 freakin' senses. I kid you not... I actually asked my doctor if I should get screened for Early-Onset Alzheimers 🥺
So to find an HONEST channel like yours is refreshing!
@@ChineduOpara lol that made me laugh. Yeah, you've figured it out. Once you know, it's easy to have a peaceful life. Some people don't figure it out and get frustrated.
I have to disagree..i made a counter video against that. The ones who said the food is bland havent travelled outisde of medellin (the ohio of colombia..which i did not want to say and bogota is even worse)

Hey Andrew! How are you buddy? I love Sancocho de pollo!! $2.50 USD! and would do me for the day! On La 70, Laureles. "Have some sympathy and some taste!" My man!! Being 66, I grew up with the Stones, led Zepplin and all the best classic rock that ever existed. Jimmy Hendrix, etc.
Damn Andrew, this video was so honest, authentic and real. Loved it, and thank you man. I had a wonderful, intense relationship with a woman half my age - and we both LOVED it!!! I truly enjoyed being kind and generous with her ane her family.
Glen thank you brother. I was curious to see anyone got the reference. Long live rock and roll! 🎸
Nice and very informative. Great video. Thanks.

Colombian women are super nice and friendly! Saying this as a woman myself. In other countries you get so used to women being catty to one another, especially beautiful women can be catty, but none of that is the case in Colombia. I was so suprised. Absolutely loved it!

Pretty awesome of your list of foods, considering you're vegan. Very thoughtful of you to not necessarily make the list vegan (even though I might have thown in maybe 1 vegan/vegetarian item).
Great video parce.
Is cities having higher rate of crime than Medellin- its misleading. In those cities there are isolated areas that unsafe, meanwhile in Medellin its an opposite- isolated areas that are safe
The safety issue in Medellin, is all about isolation. If you find yourself on a trail, or neighborhood without people . Especially at night.
Here in the USA, you can get shot anywhere. No safe space because the majority of people have guns and lack emotional regulation and conflict resolution skills.
Colombia could and can be named the united states of the central and south america
It already was. In the past, Colombia included Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, northern Peru, western Guyana, and northwest Brazil.

Great video and information. How is the air quality in Medellin? I have heard from many qualified sources that the air quality is pretty bad in Medellin. I am wondering if the government is doing something to improve the air quality?

Thanks! I grew up in Orange County, near LA.
Bogota is a virtual fortress. You won't be committing any crimes there. You've never seen anything like it. There are usually 3-4 armed cops with dogs on most street corners. Add to that there are security guards dispersed throughout every block. They have guns and some of them have dogs as well. Every store has security guards with guns so you won't be shoplifting. Your belongings are always checked as you leave the store. Don't even think about committing a crime in Bogota. Bogota authorities fight crime the right way. None of this calling 911 nonsense and waiting for an hour for cops to arrive. The cops in Bogota are positioned among the people walking the beat as they should be.
Thanks! Brotha keep up the content
Wow thank you!
Especially that Medellin kingpin with a Brazilian accent. Look, for Americans, everything south of El Paso is Mexico

Yes I did lol
Blood pudding is quite popular in Ireland and England. Its known as Black pudding.
Thanks for another great video. I especially liked your recommendations for food and your assessment of Colobian women. On the matter of crime statistics, I believe that cime is 13:37 greatly under-reported in Colombia because people are distrustful of police. In addition, foreigners are big targets for thieves because they are perceived as rich and worth robbing, whether you show papaya or not. So, I disagree with you about safety, especially for foreigners.
Yeah one can say you make it as safe or as dangerous as you make it.
👋 hey I’m from Baltimore 😂😂😂 that’s why I love Colombia 🇨🇴.. I feel safe in Medellin again I’m from Baltimore😂😂😂😂😂
Haha 🤣 yes!
I know NOBODY in the United States who would leave a cell phone and then go to the bathroom.

@@agudecar yeah real safe suburbs in the US are great.
Nice informative video!
Btw did you really say North-Korea is an economic powerhouse?😅
Haha yeah I meant only South Korea, but compared to Colombia North Korea might be. Lol
The first good dish you presented was what looked like a Paisa plate, with the eggs, beans, arepa, and pork skins. Those or something similar are often part of the lunch specials. I'll take a pass, but am glad for Burger King and Rappi. 🤣😉
Comparing Medellin to the worst of US cities like Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago and the like calling it "more safe" based on murder stats is an invalid comparison. Why? Because there's a lot of ways people are harmed where murder isn't involved. Who knows what the robbery stats in Medellin are as most go unreported. Also it matters a lot what part of Atlanta or Baltimore you live in. Murder stats in such places are heavily spiked by gang conflicts, so if you aren't in a gang or living around the same, you can usually comfortably live behind one locked door. While the experience of an obvious North American in a place like Medellin is different in many ways. While the US State Dept is largely right, I'll still return, will dress down as usual, keep my wits about me and won't display wealth. That said I'll still be followed by beggars and thieves. I'll follow the precautions, but am still at more risk than in my home city in the States, but they are risks I'm willing to take.
Who in the States leaves their phone or bag sitting unattended when they go to the bathroom? Maybe in some tiny rural town where everyone knows one another, but even still that's a terrible idea. I'd never dream of it.
Also, if Colombians really want to move beyond the Narco image, they could dial back some of the partying. Heck they love drugs so much they created their own designer sensation, the pink stuff that is flowing into the States and Europe. At the suggestion of another TH-camr, "Don't create Disneyland then complain when people come and want to see Mickey and Donald Duck."
PS When talking about Baltimore, for the sake of balance, tell the audience that Colombia as a whole has over 6 times the murder rate as the States as a whole. Feel free to fact check that. Thanks for another great video. 😀😀
Good comment. Thanks!
I have been to Colombia a few times. To me it is the best country in the world. What America have over Colombia is money, absolutely nothing else.
Nice!

Sitting at Sur America Metro, Sunday morning...held up at knife point, assaulted...bystanders notified police...fifteen minutes late, policia show up. No suspect found.
Today, one week later, there is the knife wielding thief having coffee three blocks from Sur America Metro...sees me and takes off. Policia still unable to locate knife wielder...photos, video tape from metro...useless
Didn’t you already write this in another comment? I’d say don’t hang out there anymore.
I was just in colombia and it felt more like a 2nd world country, atleast in the areas of Medellin i was staying at. Cool country.
The problem with Colombia is the taxes. Anything over 1k gets taxed, not heavy, but at 2,5k and up 35% roughly. Plus complications actually moving larger chunks of cash. Capital controls international taxes -taxes a foriegn made gains. Capital gains taxes 35%.
Excessive regulation on imports and excessive taxs on importing. 20% tax on most food.
In excess of 30% apy interest on all loans I know of. Which large cap assets like houses dont have people , few buyers due to high cost of capital even if they have the down payment. Hard to sell. Not lots people who can or who are willing to pay those interest rates.
In general excessive buracracy, excessive goverment. Lots of dead wood, unproductive saleried goverment.
Thus a partial list of reasons why Colombia can not progress and is not likely to.
Which why the youth , brain drain - leave. Why most want to leave, because they have no hope.
These problems can be overcome but both left and right , there has been 0 progress.
Colombians are brave, passionate and very intellegent. So as they say its not over till its over.
On paper yes, but only 2% of the population actually declares and only 1%actually pays anything. Again, the culture of lying and corruption has us where we are.
@@MedellinBuzz that I do not doubt, but bigger capital players cant move in cash ,
Internationals. Suitcases of cash hardly a useful way, except for the narcos perhaps.
If you made a million are going to keep your gains here or go to panama , make interests without being taxed 35%. If you leave then Colombia suffers because thats investment Capital, it pays wages , creates stuff. Some other country gets rich. The people here get squeezed.empty condos in Miami.
Besides which business guys hoarding cash lose at least 12% in devaluation every year, so spend it or lose it. Wheres the long term developement in that? Might as well live high.
Besides these considertions - hardly ideal having a society hiding and lying as a way of life..as survival neccesity.
But we have models that work in SA..
And i do agree with your statement.
Why is the number of children born out of wedlock high in Latin America?
They dont believe in abortion and they welcome children as blessings from God. They are family oriented unlike most western countries
They dont believe in abortions unlike american male
@@passportbros173 whaaaaat 83 percent of kids born to single mother so how can they be family oriented

If American didn’t take everything they’d be stuck with hotdogs and hamburgers lol. Great video bro 👌🏾
Hot dogs are German and a Danish immigrant ordered the first hamburger, not to mention that it’s called a hamburger because of Hamburg, Germany. lol so US wouldn’t even have that.
Considered moving to Medellin. Watched Septimo Dia "Secuestro Express" episode and cancelled plan. While not directly a Medellin related problem, it does happen in Colombia. Too high a safety issue at least for me. American justice and death penalty sentences are why such a thing doesn't happen in the US. Too bad Colombia can't do the same.
Yeah lots of those shows have scared people away.
That’s what Mick Jagger says have some sympathy and taste. He put that in his song.
Yep you got it.
None of them including the Beatles ever wrote a single song.
I like the assessment and hate when people say 3rd world country, it’s a developing country. Right the best food is made at home I agree with that point. Of course crime will be higher in the US, it’s 330 million people compared to like 50 million and a lot more guns 😅. Great video tho

So factually Columbian food is not good, there might be a reason for it but the food is not good. One of the best ways to see how good the food is in a country is to check how many restaurants exist in a major city in the US. Italian, Thai, Mexican, Indian, and other ethnic restaurants are in high numbers because generally, the food is good. Even Peru has made their mark, so Columbia needs to catch up, so better to stop complaining and get better. Chile is in the same spot.
Colombian doesn’t need to catch up. The people here like their food.
You lost me at "the economic powerhouse of North Korea"
Always seems to me like this dude is trying to discourage people from coming to a country he lives in. It’s a constant negative theme. He isn’t the only one.
Seems like you’re the only one that feels that way.
If you think UK is good cuisine, you obviously never been there 😉
Never been, but heard it's trash, lol.
@@MedellinBuzz That is correct 🤣😁
@@Gnaget10
He might have meant "Indian food in the UK"... cuz I know first-hand that it's AWESOME.
@@ChineduOpara no I meant English food...it's not the best. If America didn't have immigrants flood it, then American food would just be a variation of English food from the colonists. If Colombia were to have a ton of immigrants from Italy, China, India, etc, I'm sure the food here would be better (different).
The point is that many Americans come here and complain about the food being bland, but don't stop to think why their own food isn't bland. Hope that makes sense.
Colombia would be better economically if it was sharing a border with the US. The potential is there. So is the danger lol.
Yeah but then we’d all be fat. Like Mexico.
