I'm from Washington DC. I moved here to Bogota almost three years ago. It was tough getting used to the altitude. However as others have expressed it's a very beautiful city, very diverse, shopping, museums, music venues and more. Now the traffic, I could do without, but I deal with it. Great video, thanks

@@dovygoodguy1296 It's rough. Most of them come to Bogota and Medellin, which is why many people are jaded with Venezuelans. About ten years ago, most people begging for money on the streets were Colombians. But today 70% of them are Venezuelans, which means the influx has affected the most vulnerable and the poorest Colombians that are now competing with the Venezuelans for the few opportunities available. The middle and higher classes haven't seen such an increase in comparison. But at the same time, a lot of Venezuelans have integrated into the local culture, so in a way we're closer than ever. Personally I think it's unavoidable and I quite like most Venezuelans I've met, so eh, it's okay.
There's plenty of nice neighborhoods: Salitre, Colina campestre, Cedritos, Niza, Lagartos, Santa Barbara, Esmeralda, Nogal, Modelo Norte, Modelia... and then some. You could visit all of them and see interesting stuff and places to eat. You don't get bored in Bogota. If you want to see big houses and such they are mostly located north outside the city.

I have been to Bogota twice, and will be going there again this coming Oct. I have stayed in the Chico area, and Santa Barbra. My take away from those experiences are these: Very pet friendly. And because you see dogs everywhere with their people, even in high end shopping malls, there must be an extreme respect regarding the dogs vs. other people because I never saw dog poo anywhere on sidewalks, parks, etc. In other words, people clean up after their dogs. Never smelled dog poo either. Also, when out shopping, many of the stores have an abundance of help, anxious to help you find what you are looking for. Not just because I'm blonde/blue eyed, but because they WANT to help. I only speak a rudimentary Spanish, but I can get by most of the time, and believe me, while I expand my vocabulary daily, as long as I make the effort to speak the language, I feel that it goes a long way. And yes, I only take Uber to get around, and so far it's very affordable. Don't be flashy with your cell phone, or jewelry, and just be hyper vigilant. And then Oh my goodness the food and drinks! Best steak I've ever had, best margarita, best sangria, pasta......you name it, and I love the traditional Colombian food as well. So, I plan to move there end of 2025 when I retire. After that, then I will explore other cities in Colombia. But for now, it's Bogota! Love it!
If you want people to respond to your greetings in the street you should try using "Buenos dias" or "Buenas" because is more formal and people use it in Colombia instead of Hola. they might feel more confortable answering a stranger like that.

So nice Walk! North of Bogota is a big great part of the ciry that can be comparated to full cities in area! And in general is all development, full safe and has high quality of life! It is expanding and fixing all above the citie and basically moving and dinamising all the country!

North of Bogotá is and area of 4 Million people, like a City inside of other City and has the most development of Latam, anyway mid clas of Bogotá is 4 Millions too and is so nice, same culture, the hardest is the south and part of the center that are 2 Million people, is hard but not as hard as it was in the past and is getting slowly developed by the rest of the city

Santa Barbara is a very nice neighborhood. I stayed there for three months. It's amazing the beautiful and large expensive dogs you see in Bogota. They have quite a few nice neighborhoods like somone below mentioned they are in the northern side of bogota when you get towards Chapinero and above. It's a much safer side of town too, but it's bogota you have to stay vigilant because crime can happen anywhere (just like most countries).

thank you for showing another neighborhood in Bogota. Most of the international TH-camrs show the historic center and some areas that honestly, as a local I do not go. I am Colombian and I basically grew up in Bogota and I can tell you that most of the people in Bogota are not friendly. My mother lives in a building and everytime we take the elevator, I notice nobody says hi, good morning or anything unless they are friends. In Medellin and almost every where Colombians are very friendly, humble and love foreigners. Enjoy my country.

Currently in Bogotá, first time in Colombia... Careful with your drink, didn't think someone would drug me until it happened a few days ago. Aside from that everything has been pretty cool, but I think I'll be leaving to a different city in a couple of days maybe Medellín or a smaller beach town

I am here in Bogota right now and my wife’s family is saying crime is really bad,, They won’t let me take a taxi alone or even walk to Parque Colina Mall alone,,! Yes mainly Venezuelans on motorcycles and motorized bicycles are doing a lot of crime,,, I haven’t experienced any at all,,,? Are the exaggerating?
The Venezuelans aren't just going to Colombia, but also to Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic...etc. And at the end of the day just like here in the US its the decision of those contracting people and hiring to be fair and balance when it comes to getting people for the jobs. So its not the one looking for honest work fault.. remember who and what you are and where you're coming from with the privileges you have my friend. Its probably best not to touch those topics and just keep you video on the subject of sightseeing and what's its like to visit, culture, etc...

if you want to see mansions you have to go to "Via la Calera" or "Cajica", but honestly I never saw any mansion over 93, probably I'm wrong

Bogotá is a magical town, beutiful green and colombian’s people are very friendly…must of them, same that other places… Mexico is not in Centroamérica my friend, is northamerica , enjoy the place do not make judjments…

They won’t let me take a taxi alone or even walk to Parque Colina Mall alone,,!
Yes mainly Venezuelans on motorcycles and motorized bicycles are doing a lot of crime,,,

The Venezuelans aren't just going to Colombia, but also to Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic...etc. And at the end of the day just like here in the US its the decision of those contracting people and hiring to be fair and balance when it comes to getting people for the jobs.
