If you're still wondering how Norrington ended up with the heart, there's two shots of him by the longboat, first looking at the dirt Jack had removed from the jar and then the jar itself. The second is him stuffing the bag with the heart now inside it, and the letter of marque, into his coat, just before he makes his "sacrifice play".

I love Davy Jones from POTC, he is my favorite villain in fiction. He is true evil, but from an emotional place. An evil who long ago won, he is the sea. Yet with all the power, he is not free. With nothing to accomplish and no joy in his life he turned to cruelty, just to feel something. Bill Nighy gives an amazing physical performance, lugging around a body weighed down by a century's worth of baggage, and a powerful voice rasped by the salt of the sea air.

An extremely well deserved win. This movie and At Worlds End had some of the best VFX ever put on film. They paid through the nose for it but damn do both films look good. Surprising how much they shot practically as well and then augmented in post. That's probably why so much of it holds up so well. The real reinforces the fake and you just buy it completely.

That’s kinda the joke of Jack Sparrow- he almost always lands on his feet.

Nothing compares to the first one, but 2 and 3 ain’t bad at all! 4, eh, it’s decent. Don’t hold your breath for 5. Some other people have mentioned already the “I’ve got a jar of dirt” ad-lib and the cast’s reaction… another genuine reaction was when they saw Barbossa at the end of the film. If I remember correctly, the script said it would be Anna Maria from the first film, so no one was expecting to see Geoffrey Rush!

I'll agree with this. 1 was lightning in a bottle. Never gonna get that again. 2 & 3 tie up the story really well and are a hell of a lot of fun to watch. 4 is pretty damn good but not the same. Really good villain though. 5... it has its moments and it's fun, but it feels extremely over-played.

The next one is an excellent follow-up to Dead Man's Chest. There is some division about 4 and 5, but despite obvious flaws, they are still a good romp. Soon, you will be agreeing with those of us that say, "No Pirates without Captain Jack."

Yeah, I still think the first one is the best overall, as they start rehashing a lot of gags and things get a little convoluted and contrived as the series progresses, but this one is, nevertheless, a LOT of fun, as is the next one. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to "At World's End" and seeing what you think of the series as a whole at that point.

Apparently this is a lot more fun for me to watch other people enjoy than for me to watch on my own. I was never that keen on any of the movies after the first, although I watched most if not all of them, but this was enjoyable to see through someone else's eyes! Even if the lack of pretty clothes and uglier hair on all of them still saddens me. The costumes were definitely best in the first movie and downhill after that (for me). 🤣

I know it might seem silly, but I would love to see Addie react to more light hearted movies like "Stranger than Fiction" or really weird things like"The Man Who Killed Hitler and then The Bigfoot" unfortunately I can't support her by any means other than TH-cam comments and likes, but I would love to see her react to less generic content... food for thought.
