  • The Northwest Akron Branch Library staff has launched a program offering educational, literacy and social opportunities for children of all ages with differing abilities, their siblings, parents/caregivers and their typically developing peers. "We engage participants through the use of story, music and movement. Our program incorporates a schedule board, double visuals and sensory opportunities for participants as well as a half-hour of socialization time for the entire family's enjoyment," said library branch manager Tricia Twarogowski.
"We are pleased to partner with the Autism Society of Greater Akron to bring this program to our community. We also thank the Akron Community Foundation's Millennium Fund for Children for granting financial resources to support this initiative.
For more information or to register for the program, contact Tricia Twarogowski at 330-643-4702. The programs are offered monthly on the third Saturday. Participants are asked to choose between two times, either 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Both sessions contain the same content.

Thank you for sharing! I did wish sometimes that I could hear the songs better so I could hear the words but could not make them out over the voiceover but all the information is really great and I appreciate it!

This is great! Do you take a break reading a single book up into three chunks or do you read three different books? Why do you do the flannel activity in the beginning rather than at the end? Thank you so much for sharing all these great tips!
