Now I totally get how PVC pipe is made. You start with the raw materials, put them through a machine, put the result of that though another machine, and finally put it through another machine. Very informative!
Don't forget, you have to do all of that wearing flip-flops.

At least one of them was smart enough to wear a dust mask.
Unfortunately the particles he has to be concerned with are smaller then 3 microns, which would easily bypass that sorry excuse for a mask like it wasn't even there. Those masks shouldn't even be allowed to be called masks they should be called face coverings.

Yes he is wearing disposable mask only supplied by his seth. The amount which his Seth earns , he should provide him a Gas mask atleast and a jacket type uniform for no body exposure.

That is Not how PVC is made. That is how a Third World Country recycles PVC. Notice safety is #10 on the list.

NO dust mask? Wow. You can just see the years melting away. Then they have one, but it is very inadequate and you need eye protection too from the dust.
I worked at a plant in California about 20 years ago. We started with the pellets and fed them into the machine. The extruder pushed them pvc through the water just like this plant. It did go a little faster. I would use a micrometer and verify Quality Control on the pipes coming out. What the video did NOT show is how to get he gooey super hot pvc going through at the beginning (its done by hand). This plant isn't that far from what we have running in a 24-7 facility in the US.
At the plant I work at the only thing you do by hand is bundling the pipe and quality control
No these are not great working conditions. No this is not great plant equipment to work around. Nothing about this place is great. However it provides jobs for these people I can tell you this is important.

Well, how about that? I had no idea that PVC pipe was made mostly from PVC pipe. Did they start out with the naturally-occuring pipes and work their way toward a more recycle-driven approach? Do you happen to have any footage of the PVC mines those first pipes came from?

this is a SMALL operation.....have you seen modern high speed PVC pellet machines? They are produced so fast you can't see them. About 10,000 a minute not 1000 an hour like the one at 3:52 lol.
If you shop at Home Depot, you deserve what you get. There are better places than this "dump" to buy better products. They have every idiot convinced they are the place for your business. I haven't been into a Home Depot in 23 years. I am never going back!

Interesting process but the end result should only be used for waste pipes. I doubt any independent agency is certifying this pipe. As to the working conditions, the owner should be fined for allowing workers to slave in unsafe conditions. This does not show the world a healthy view of the host country.

The only "pvc" pipe that will get pinhole leaks and rust and will never meet any regulations. I always wondered if there was a third world PVC knockoff manufacturing ring and I guess there is.

Made with recycled plastic and not virgin plastic so its quality will be lower.
The only reason the quality would ever be any different would be the addition of impurity's, whether by accident or intentional. Otherwise if done properly its still the same material with the same composition composed in the same manner. Not that it's the case here, but if done properly one could manufacture one recycled and one normal and you would not be able to identify which is which.
@@travishirschfelt413 "Done Properly" does not exist. One can not make a pipe with 100% recycled material and have the same properties as virgin PVC resin with lubricants, and stabilizers, etc.. Burst tests and tensile strength would be different. Also, no consistent quality standards can be assured with 100% recycled pvc. The pipe made with 100% recycled pvc has a different heat history compared to pipe made from virgin resin which will be evident in the physical properties. Also there doesn't appear to be any traceability since there is no markings on the pipe stating manufacturer and quality standard the pipe meets.
It would be nice to know WHAT they're doing rather than having to guess.

You have to admire these people who put this video on You Tube thinking that it was acceptable but they have nothing to compare it too . As a retired toolmaker who has made and worked on plastic ejection and extrusion dies I found it horrifying to see numerous safety and health violations . However I live in a country that has rules ,regulations, guidelines ,standards and a union that helps enforce these rules ; these guys would have no rights and appear not to even have a pair of work boots . Watching sadly in despair in Australia . Poverty sucks !!!!!

Should be titled PVC Pipe Manufacturing in the Third World. 90% of that is automated anywhere else, there would be safety guarding on the equipment and proper PPE for the workers.

The source of this scrap material is unknown to the end user. If there is no quality requirement, if it's going to be used for gutter drain, or something like that, then I guess it's not important.

They are using pvc regrind so the pipe should be OK as long as there are no impurities. They are then pellatizing the powder, because their feed system is designed for that. Once the extruded is set up it can run as long as material is available.
Riche Galuno , I was only commenting on the process. Extruding pvc pipe can be done in a garage but as seen safety issues, based on US standards are another thing. Most nations do not have safety standards or MSDS.

Best of both worlds 🌎....this company is fighting a loosing battle with high speed machines which over produced and dump their product every where. So don't ask for safety don't ask for masks. Not all currencies are equal they earn less than ur dollars value and pay more for resources. The guy is using a scarf to hair so that he can save on shampoo 😆 this is not sarcasm but truth. With poor ventilation and hot humid country he can't wear a mask 12hrs a day for all week. Yes he is happy to have a factory job than dieing hungry. He doesn't use nukes to win wars and talk about safety all day.

Doesn't look particularly unsafe to me. But the production rate is tragic. And old PVC stuffed with calcium carbonate filler makes for pretty lousy pipe. I wish they had good jobs making good pipe with good equipment.
I would say that 1st world pipe making factories are a little bit more modernized and efficient than this...I hope so anyway or we'd NEVER get PVC for anything

Please be aware that PVC dust is combustible and poses an explosion hazard. You should never let the dust layer build up on motors or other equipment that can get hot.

Why blend powder, then extrude pellets just to melt it again? Why not run powder? Also, they are not running vacuum for the OD. Plus breathing all the dust. Glad we do it different in America. Feel sorry for these people.

They're probably selling their product to people who live on a dollar or two a day and
