    This was an interesting, informative and entertaining video with excellent videography and narration.
    Simply put, civilised countries rely on these very highly engineered pipes for potable water and sewage removal and processing along with countless industrial, manufacturing and agricultural usage.
    Life as we know it simply couldn't function without such underground networks.
    The test pressures were quite remarkable, I would never have imagined that the pipes would be subjected to such high proof pressures.
    It certainly instills confidence that these pipes will continue to give decades of trouble free service.

      There are some people that dislike PVC. They don’t want it used on drinking water or waist water. Every pipe made leaves it’s mark on any water that flows through it. Nothing you can do about that but for longevity and ease of repair PVC has its place.

    I've always wondered how the die is held in place inside the extrusion tube. How to hold it in place while there's continuous flow around it, without causing a break in the circumference of the tube during extrusion. I'm guessing its held early in the molten flow stage, a blade bracket of sorts, thin enough to allow 'healing' to occur beyond die location?

Wouldn't it be better to have them in a warehouse or something? How can the company guarantee the sun hasn't already damaged the pipe? Just curious, not hating or complaining.

    Impressive pipes. Why were the large blue pipes referred to as ‘cast iron’?

      @markhull1366 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I picked up on that too. Either it was a typo on the script or possibly it is because those pipes conform to the same diameter specs as cast iron ones do. I know sometimes they have to make transitions from cast to pvc in the field.

    11:37 why don't they put those smaller blue pipes into the larger green ones and have room for twice the load?

    • @timthedude1427
      @timthedude1427 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3DPeter because the customer would have to get them out you would double the load to the banding and scratch or ruin your perfectly in spec pipe . Not to mention the inner pipe would be loose if not banded length wise

    • @3DPeter
      @3DPeter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      they could tape the end to prevent scratching, and then tie it up with a rachet that goes throuh the pipe, so that it can't fall out during transport, and weight
      can't be an issue, because a truck can haul far more heavier loads that that.

      3DPeter that would cause a hassle to the customer on their site . And cost at least 5x in banding lengthwise in every pipe rather than just wrapping them . just standards of how things are done we never did it where I had made PVC pipe

      3DPeter I have seen this done with drainage pipe. Probably most customers require one size. Too much labor to u load onsite.

    The pipes are usefull for irrigation. A 60 inch pipe line 15 miles long how much cost.

    Long lasting and reliable is not the words I’d use to describe PVC pipe. I’d probably see environmentally hazardous and weak.

    Imagine making one large enough for a vehicle to travel through and thick enough walls to hold the load and you've got a bridge that doesn't weigh 500 tons. Much faster to produce this.

      About 20 yrs ago in Menomonee falls Wi there was a steel culvert under the road between the landfills on Townline Rd. It was used for company vehicle travel and big enough for dump trucks and such.
