    Really excellent! Yes, agreed, now that someone has come up with the idea we can all improve it such as with a stop at the back to prevent the sled from traveling further than where the blade just touches the fence. An adjustable stop would also allow one to cut band saw boxes or inside cuts by stopping the cut before the fence. Very useful and extremely well narrated and presented. Thank you for the idea. Subscribed!

      @colinmcdonald7591 😁 Thank you very much Colin 😁. I 100% agree, a back stop is really needed. This one has suffered quite a few battle scars now so I think a Mk2 version is needed. Thanks so much for watching 😁👍

      😁 That would be a good addition but I will need to add that in if I make another one. To add it to this one I would either have to move the back fence forward or increase the depth of the base, either way It would be easier to make a complete new one. Thanks for watching John 😁👍

    I just recently got a band saw and have been wanting to make a cross cut sled for it. I'm glad mine has the runners. I bought this model for that and the bigger resawing capacity. I love your sled design. I feel you wasted time from 10:43 to 12:40. Just put your square on your sled and square it up with your cut line and the fence, then clamp and screw. I love the size of your sled over the smaller ones everyone else is building. The stop block is like the icing on the cake. I may even add a tape measure for respective cuts. Thumbs up and new sub here. Keep up the great work.

    Wonky check works great as long as the edges of the test piece are parallel. A safer practice would be to check for wonky from the side that was against the fence. A reference edge in woodworker speak.

    G’day mate, I’ve never seen a sled made for the bandsaw like a conventional table saw sled design but it looks like it’s going to work, it’s a challenge with the blades to avoid any sort of drift, nicely thought out 🎥🔨👍🍺

    • @frankslittleworkshop
      @frankslittleworkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dirk 😁. This works a treat 😁. I mainly use it for quick fine cuts on smaller items (I.e. stuff that's too small for the tablesaw) so I don't really see any drift 😁. I normally set my blade just forward of the centre of the top tyre on this bandsaw and with a decent blade I don't get any significant drift 😁. Thanks for watching Dirk, stay safe mate 😁👍🇬🇧

      Thanks David 😁. The stop block works better than I expected considering it was an after thought. I think you would need to design some kind of "drop on" frame for your tablesaw (I don't think it has the runners) 🤔. So possibly an external frame that locates securely on the table and then the sled could run on that !!! I'm sure you would come up with an ingenious solution. Thanks for watching David. What a weird way to go at squaring the back board!! Why didn't you just start with the square on the kerf and align the back board to that????

    • @TheRealWeirdoC
      @TheRealWeirdoC ปีที่แล้ว

      I really appreciate that he took the time and effort to record, edit, and upload the video. The overall design is simple, practical, and a big improvement over a miter gauge for 90 degree cuts. Extra points for explaining an additional solution for saws that only have one miter gauge slot.
      That being said, there were a few head-scratchers with the techniques, and the weird squaring procedure definitely deserves a bit of constructive criticism. Also, when he did get it "square," there was a lot of light showing under that reference square on the end of the board. You can get better results without even having a reference square if you just flip your offcut over after the cut and butt the two sides of the fresh cut together. If there's any error, it will be doubled and the pieces will show a clearer gap when aligned along the fence.

      @@wildinthestreetswithheld8573 Hi, mine is fine.
