Because i like to play in the morning and try keeping the noise down, I've made my own picks out of paper/ scotch tape laid over the paper. Very flexible and durable.

Great tips. Thanks! I added a wall hanger a couple of months back and find that I do play my mandolin a lot more often.

I'm new to mandolin and really enjoy your lessons. Thanks for sharing. Though not necessarily necessary, I do use an arm guard for added comfort. I have considered a tone guard but do not consider this as a necessary addition, in particular, for my standard of playing at the moment.

Thank you Sir. I’m new to your channel, but am really enjoying learning from you. Quick question Baron, I’m curious what brand and style is your go to mandolin that you’re always playing on here? Thanks again for your time and passion in teaching us all!

I would consider a pick as a necessity not an accessory. For another accessory I would suggest a string winder. Not critical but makes replacing strings much easier.

I’m with leftycut1 on a short capo being very useful for mando- some keys are definitely easier than others to play in, especially if like myself (and apparently lefty, from what he says) you are sort of a jack of all trades and master of none. I’ve got one short capo I can use on mandolin, Banjo, and an Irish Bouzouki which joined my herd of stringed things last year. One twist I would add to the recommendation for a stand or a wall hook- I found a little wall hang type hook designed to clamp to a mic stand or music stand- those are the bees knees for keeping a mandolin out of harms way but within easy reach at a gig or a jam as well as at home.

One thing I have for all my stringed instruments (I play many but not great 😂) is a capo. Especially handy on a mandolin

I use the Rubbermaid FastTrack on my walls. I can hang multiple instruments on one 4' rail using the cooler hooks (they can be bent to fit almost any instrument). Best part is there's just three small screw holes for each one.

Baron, can you please give us a lesson on the fiddle song called Manitoba Golden Boy? I would love to learn it.

I had a violin stand from years ago that works well now as a mandolin stand.

I have all my instruments out. An instrument in the case doesn't get played

I’m a violin player learning mandolin. Would you suggest half round or flat round strings? Thank you for your videos!

What's your opinion on arm rests? Do they help or not?
