    Btw Melee row is the front row and Ranged row the backrow.. also you never used Nithral's order ability, it can be used every turn, just so you know.
    Funny to see you struggle as a 'new' Gwent player.. at higher ranks its a struggle to climb, ropers and salty people are unfortunately many as wel.. though if you are interested there are many helpfull and kind players and streamers out there as wel.

    I'm playing Gwent with Hs since 2017 I presume, when they released the game open beta, I've started the game.
    The first thing you might notice about Gwent is, Hearthstone is way expensive then Gwent. I only paid the starter pack on each game for card collection and I have full Golden Set on Gwent.
    Also the thing which is good on Gwent is, it has RNG but not gamechanger like Hearthstone. Hs gets crazy and if you're lucky enough, you can win against your opponent. On Gwent, if you're not skilled enough, you can't win. RNG changes the game on same luck level.
    It's fun and freshing but Gwent doesn't have extra game modes. Especially like me, if you're playing too much, you might get bored.

      They changed a bunch of things and now it’s actually a lot more balanced than before. People used to easily get anywhere from 100-200+ in each round before. Now it’s rare to see a 100+ in a round. A lot better if you ask me

    • @peschionator7873
      @peschionator7873 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@narutoman93 Not that you are wrong about the balance, but taking the mere point value as an indicator doesnt really make sense. They simply made a hard reset on points when homecoming was released. Back in beta a bronze card had usually a floor value of 11 points but they didnt have any cost attached to them like provisions do now. CDPR cut down the base value to 3-4 (for 4 provision) at homecoming launch while most good low provision cost bronze cards nowadays are considered bad or situational when they dont give you at least 7 points. So there is definetely powercreep, but I wouldnt say that it damages the game because CDPR uses their patch schedule really well to rework and buff cards.

      Powercrept, yes many old cards are definitely weaker or reworked a few times.
      The 2 rows was a decision made I think alongside the provision rework..I think its more streamlined now and deckbuilding is in a sense more complex.
      The game can be a lot of fun, though where I am at.. rank 3 to pro rank it can be very tedious till you hit pro.. cause everyone plays basically the same few decks.. 😅

    I really like Gwent but I barely play it reguarly, either very excessively for an amount of time or weeks to months without a single game. I feel like the base rules are what make it unique but also why I have this difficult relationship with it and why it has so few players. It lacks the interaction of MTG or LoR since you can only play on your turn, most control decks are defined by having cards that interact with the opponents board but you dont have a stack like in the other mentioned games. In comparison to HS it feels really restrictive to only play one card a turn, you could never have a concept like miracle rogue or other combo decks in the game. So in the end it is a war of bait and attrition, you play as much cards as you need to get an advantage in ressources to take over the game. That makes it weirdly similar to games like bridge where you have to get tricks, handreading and the order of how you play your cards become the most important skills you need to learn. Imho, the base mechanics of the game are the culprit of most unhealthy metagames that the game has seen. In other games, most overpowered decks were due to the powerlevel of the deck while Gwent doesnt allow you to outmaneuver strong decks like other card games can. You are too limited in how you can approach bad matchups or stronger decks because you can only play one card a turn. Draws also dictate the game too much. You usually have at least one wincon per round that you need to win (so at least 2). Since you cant draw your entire deck unless you thin it (like discard Skellige or Nilfgaard), if you dont draw your wincon for the specific rounds you can only hope that you either 1. have bled the opponent out of ressources beforehand (aka playing the game right), 2. he already missplayed by playing his wincon in a lost round or 3. he doesnt draw it himself. So games can be decided by bad draws more than any other cardgame (that I have experience in) because ressources are so limited.
    That being said CDPR has done some really cool stuff with the game that I admire them for. They have real graveyard interactions unlike HS or LoR and I really miss them in those games. The patches are really good, they tend to rework underperforming archetypes every month so the cardpool isnt as artificially limited as in other games. It's really cool to see unplayable cards being either reworked to they can actually work with their respective archetype or form an entire new archetype from old unwanted cards like they did with Nilfgaard this patch or with the grace mechanic this expansion. The game rewards you for playing it (in form of unlockables) and you have enough incentive to play it if you are reliant on external factors like quests and so on.
    So if anyone actually took the time to read all this junk to see a justification to try it out, just do it. My biggest problem with the game stems from the basics so if you dont see a problem or even find it intriguing you will have your fun. Basically everything on top of the basics is done really well and CDPR puts a lot of work into it.

Even if I was low rank my takes arent automatically invalid. But to satisfy your curiosity, the last time I queued into ranked instead of unranked I finished around rank 3 before pro ladder because playing against the same 2-3 decks every game isnt fun. I didnt even know that there are any ranks below 15 so I have to trust you on that one.
      Edit: I dont even know why you set the bar with rank 18 so low, most players dont understand fundamental game concepts like card advantage and bleeding before rank 10. When I started playing ranked again after decaying for years I have seen players that go -3 in card advantage to win a single round or simply missing row effects.

    I haven't played gwent in a long time. When i first played it was almost identical to the witcher 3. I liked playing skellliga because they had a bonus that made their cards stronger in rounds 2 and 3. They also had a bunch of discard, resurrection, and cards that boosted damaged units. round 1 you just played cards that discarded cards from your deck this got your units ready for round 2 and 3 while your opponent waist cards on a round you were planning on losing anyway. round 2 and three you play all your resurrection cards to pull your now much stronger cards from the grave.
    Nilfgaurd has a lot of spies. Spies are cards you play on your opponents side (often giving them points) for a really strong benefit such as drawing extra cards. Simular to skelliga Nilfgaurd will throw round one for a stronger round 2 and 3.
    monsters (except wild hunt) are all about spamming large amounts of week units. Wild hunt has a heavy focus on using frost to buff your units and damage the enemy.
    Northern kingdoms have a lot of cards that get buffed by other cards. The PFI originally had it's strength doubled for every PFI in it's row and Dandelion doubled the strength of all units in his row. If you had 4 PF and dandelion then each PFI had 16 strength giving you 64 points off of just 5 cards. The blue stripes commando had the same effect but had 4 base strength.
    Scoatel had cards that could make a card stay on the field after the end of the round and had a lot of cards to buff their units. They pretty much auto won or lost whether or not their opponent had enough hard removal to destroy their big units.

    let me expain the Old Speartip: Asleep. For a long time, this card is a 6 provision card with 9 power, 9 power is a cheap but strong card in starter deck. But someday this card changed to cooperate with Old Speartip,but CDPR didn't fix their starter deck, that is truly a lazy mistake.

    You are right, old aoe setup asleep should not be in the starter deck. It’s a shame that it is and is. A massive trap. It used to be a completely different card though. It used to have 9base power, no armor, and the veil status effect, which prevents the card from gaining other status effects like bleeding. It was still bad but wasn’t dogshit, which is why it was included in the deck.

    Gwent is a fun game but...
    1) Power Creep Incarnate - maybe less than Yu-Gi-Oh, but still a lot of power creep.
    2) Base decks suck, and to maintain a deck you have to get all new expansion cards - where the power creep comes in check.
    As a result if you stop playing for a bit and come back - your decks will be basically useless, and you won't be able to win much...

    • @MrWiented
      @MrWiented ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with #2 but not so much with #1. Game is balanced every month and because of how provisions work, everything can be balanced. There are abusive interaction in game, yes, but you can always find a good counter for the meta decks. Like playing Unicorn>She Who Knows vs Renfri. Game is very well maintained over all.

If you want to just play a little maybe 2 or 3 hours every few days then go and play Runemage or Thronebreaker. So as a Gwent player myself (and a pretty good one I'd say) who quit and returned two times now, I have to say that it really pains me that you had a bad time with the game and worst of all is that I can easily understand why.
    Gwent in my opinion has enourmous potential but every player and dev of cdpr should take a good look at your video as it shows some painfully brutal problems with the game, the first just being how terrible the tutorial is. And as Game is entirely dependant on netdecking, just throwing players in without explanation what the plan of their deck is, is about the worst thing you can do. You played many cards incorrectly and while yes you are not the biggest fan o reading card descriptions the game didn't do you any favors and that is on us. Also it showed a big problem regarding the community which definetly is in need of getting a little boost by a known streamer such as you... this sadly wasn't it.
    We really should look into games such as yu-gi-oh and MTGT for better tutorials and how to explain mechanics/factions in a more comprehensible way to tackle the biggest issue our community has next to a lack of tournaments and esport recognition, a semi active playerbase without any new blood in form of beginning players and watching your video made it painfully clear why this was the case.
    It is painful as the game is the easiest to get into if you understand the mechanics because of it's low entry fee (unlike heartstone you can get every single card and deck without paying) and has a lot to offer such as the darker thematic and unique playstyle even though the latter one comes with issues itself.
    I hope you one day will give gwent another shot and will come to enjoy it after working yourself into the basic mechanics.

    I don't usually get mad about games changing or dying, I enjoyed my time move on find new fun things, but Gwent makes me really upset. They had a fantastic game and just kept changing things for no reason over and over and over again. The game needed slight adjustments with a sewing needle and instead they took a sledgehammer to it 50 fucking times, and now, I can never play the game that I loved playing because this new piece of garbage game replaced it.

    Man i really miss Gwent, it had so much potential! Also it is without a doubt the game with the best card art and a really friendly module for f2p players! The problem is that with the homecoming update, it became very oversimplified und uninteractive, and after a while (propably a month) it gets really repetitive, and that comes from a guy who has almost 500 hours in Gwent and hasnt logged in in over 2 years!
