John your the best ever on social media that ever talked about bodybuilding in every single thing diet wise training etc your more than a role model for me
I'm not a body builder but a 62 year old retired woman getting back to gym and loving it! I came across your videos and find them very helpful especially for women in fitness! Thank you and ditto to what the other gentleman said!
I've been lifting for 7 years and I finally understand this concept explained under 5 minutes. One step back and two step forward... I shall live by this mantra. Thank you Guruji 🙏🏼
I've watched so many videos on insulin resistance and it sounded so complicated. Your honesty and teaching style is much appreciated. I recommend this channel as much as possible.
I was thinking of this subconsciously not too long ago. Pulling back to restore insulin sensitivity so you stay leaner and revitalizing nutrition partitioning.
Blood sugar control is key. Nice explanation. First time I did a show, very inexperienced. I ate like hell non stop, gained, but gained quite a bit of fat along with it. Went through those 'signs' you mentioned, but didn't heed the warning signs. When I dieted for the show, muscle loss happened because I had so much more fat to lose, and if you are natural, to hit that 5% bodyfat or so, muscle sacrifice is inevitable. You are spot on.
Another thing to put this in perspective, when you have more fat to lose, you HAVE to stay on the diet. The contest date is set, they are not going to postpone it because you are not ready. So, if your prep starts say 12 weeks out, you don't have the luxury of pacing your diet. So best to stay on the leaner side, trust me, dieting is no joke. Sorry, not hijacking your post, just putting thoughts/lessons learned out there.
Since I have got my body fat down and started Intermittent fasting my insulin sensitivity have gotten way much better,I eat most of my carbs around training and later in the day! That strategy have helped me and a lot of people with the insulin resistance problem!
Excellent. Brief and to the direct point. I'm currently doing something very similar for the past 4 weeks and this week I just began to reintroduce carbs back. After watching this I know i'm on the right path.
John Meadows so glad you made a youtube channel been hoping for some time now, keep the vids coming. We need real info from the best and only the best. Your channel is gonna be a GEM! Thank You Brother!!!
John your always on point! Loving the videos brother . I’ve found it’s hard to find authentic people who really want to share accurate knowledge. Thank you for what your doin, and much respect !
I read some reviews on it...didnt sound like it was well done at all...I had some people in town though and didnt get to it. I will...but from what I heard its very misleading.
This guy was such a great source of info. RIP. Loved his content and mind are there any videos for the opposite - HOW TO LOSE FAT WIHOUT LOSING TOO MUCH MUSCLE?
Thanks man. Makes alot of sense. I was at that point weeks ago where i was bloated all damn time and my digestive system was all messed up. I actually did just cut back on eating but no idea i was headed in right direction. Feel much better now i know i am then i can go back in 6 weeks or so
thank u very good strategy i have been following it and it works good i push the carb and calories for 4 weeks then cut for 2 weeks insulin sensitivity good digestion awesome recovery fast metabolism lean body
John's always been someone I've looked up to, ever since first learning about bb/fitness. He's literally my hero now, I'm not even kidding, *nor am I ashamed to admit it. Love this man! God bless him!!*
In my 20s I had built a physique I was happy with so all I wanted to do was maintain it. The problem is that it is hard to maintain 8 or 9% bodyfat, at least it was for me. So i would do mini or micro diets every time I saw my weight get 5-10 lbs above my ideal which at the time was 195 lbs. After about two to three weeks on this micro diet Id be back to 195 and could then spend the next couple months eating more or less, whatever I wanted. This worked really well for me but if youre trying to add muscle each year youll probably want to wait longer before dieting, maybe 15-20 lbs.
Damn I miss John so much. He had so much experience. I’m almost exclusively getting advice from him because of how simple yet effective he makes these concepts
Seen them all. This guy and athlean-x speak the truth. 'Bodybuilding is two steps forward, one step back' - more truer words have never been spoken in the fitness industry!
Now i know why im not getting pumped in the gym n my kgs won't go down. Great advice going to have a off week frm the gym, been training 3months no break, then i see if i get pumped the following week.
I just came off a low carb diet. I got weak AF. I think the sensitivity will make me come back even better, I'm guessing. good video. you can't burn your candle on both ends forever.
Rodger Wallis John is completely open about his PED use and has even spelled out his exact prep cycles during seminars before. This is diet advice. No need to come in with the self-righteous Natty nonsense (and no, I don't and never have used gear, though I do have every intention of going on TRT as soon as it's needed, but even so I'm tired of all the Natty warrior BS).
Rodger Wallis Who cares what I'm tired of? Me. Thus I commented. So, in your mind, you posting an obviously provocative comment is you expressing your opinion. Me expressing my opinion in response in the same forum is somehow me censoring you? I'm guessing civilized debate isn't your strong point.
Rodger Wallis I'm an albino, Rodger. I'm 33. Considering you don't have a profile picture, I'm guessing you're not the hottest young piece of meat out there either. And yes, I do have a rather large ego, which is something I'm actively working on. However, at least I'm not stupid enough to call out another person for expressing their opinion, and to state that said opinion does not matter, when the entire thing is a response to me (you, in case you're having trouble following along) posting my own (your own) worthless (and far less defensible) opinion, which I think should magically have a different set of rules applied to. That's a classic sign of a person who has never cognitively developed beyond the point of realizing that the universe doesn't revolve around them, and that the same rules and freedoms that are applied to one's self must also be applied and/or granted to others. That, combined with your lack of writing ability, leads me to conclude that you are either an adolescent (who lied about being on TRT to grant himself the semblance of legitimacy), or an adult who is at least slightly cognitively impaired. In either case , continuing our little "debate" (if you can call an exchange so one sided one) would make me nothing but a bully, rather than someone just expressing their own opinion in fair response to another's. See? I can throw out ad hominem attacks too! Anyway, I will not apologize for responding to your original comment, nor will I excuse your derogatory remarks and your assumption that you somehow possess freedoms that I do not. However, if the language I used somehow provoked you beyond the simple fact that I responded, for that I will apologize. At any rate, I need to get to work, so I wish you the best.
Thanks for so much recent youtube activity!!! Superb knowledge acquired through years of experimentation. Not just regurgitation of google search results.
wow great video i was just experiencing this and i honestly thought to do a mini diet myself but now that i see you explain it like so, im 100% going to do a shorter cut now. thanks!
I currently follow a 3 day on 1 day off split with a high calorie surplus, would following a keto diet on the rest days help to remain insulin sensitive? Another amazing video though John! Best TH-cam channel by a longshot :)
Finally the whole Insulin-Resistance thing makes sense ! and all explained in less than 5 minutes . . . . .

Fluctuating your carbs often is a great idea. Also taking 2 to 3 days off in a row every now and then is beneficial as well
I've watched so many videos on insulin resistance and it sounded so complicated. Your honesty and teaching style is much appreciated. I recommend this channel as much as possible.
