I met him at fan expo in Toronto in 2014. I'm glad I did because he was one of my heroes growing up. He was so humble. Told him he was the best artist in the whole building and that was the day where there were a lot of amazing artists. I got him to sign my cycle of the werewolf novella And I bought a print of Batman versus swamp thing and he signed it. He is greatly missed. Rest in peace
Wrightson was a one-of-a-kind Master. Many years ago while I was attending San Diego Comic Con, they announced over the PA that Bernie Wrightson would be at a certain booth doing a signing. My eyes popped out of my head. He was NOT one of the expected guests. I was so excited to go meet one of the talents in the industry that meant so much to me that I ran around the comic book vendors gathering anything I could find for him to sign. One of those was the Frankenstein book. When I finally got to the booth, I was so star struck. I couldn't believe I finally got to meet him, and it was only by chance. He was so friendly and welcoming. That moment made the entire Comic Con for me I will never forget. Thanks Bernie!
Thank you for posting this video. Bernie Wrightson's was a great talent, his pen and ink work is stunning. IMO he ranks in the top five of comic book artists, illustrators.
Nice. He’s one of my favorite illustrators and created my all time favorite comic character, Swamp Thing. I had the honor of meeting him twice at comic conventions. Didn’t know he was from my neck of the woods.
I can remember the impact of seeing Bernie’s work for the first time when I was a teenager in the 80s and thinking, ‘shit, the bar is set really high.’
Good video. I'am a big fan of Wrightson. A tribute was even paid to Wrightson at the end of an episode of Walking Dead. The authors confirmed that he was a source of inspiration. He was the best zombie artist and often drew them, he commented on the back of a trading card of a living dead in the Bernie Wrightson More Macabre series, humorously saying that someone should stop him drawing zombies. It's too bad the Ghostbusters decision makers didn't use many of his designs for the movie, because his ideas were much better and darker than what we got.
i once saw a copy of Frankenstein illustrated by Wrightson in a Barnes and Noble book store... Frankenstein has been my favorite book since the first time i read it, and here was a copy that had illustrations EXACTLY like the images i'd seen all those times before in my mind! i bought it without another thought; a treasured addition to my personal library!
Let's summarize him in one story : Jennifer. It's the paramount of horror short story. Of course his Frankenstein is a masterpiece, as all his work 🤷♂️
Hi is this footage yours can I use this as part of my documentary series of movies UnTold Legends of Comic Books presents This one will be called the Master of the Macabre Bernie Wrightson
Please do your homework on how to pronounce peoples names. It just makes me a little crazy when TH-camrs don't do their homework. John Gnagy is not pronounced G-nagie, it's pronounced John Nay-gee. Also, Graham Ingles is pronounced. Ing-gulls not inge-als. Come on, do some research.
This is not a TH-camr. This is someone using an A I. Voice over a script with non copyright music. Bernie Wrightson is great but this video is hollow and dead. Boo A.I.

That's a good little gem there. Cycle of the Warewolf is amazing!
Bernie Wrightson really deserves a lengthy documentary on his life and career with interviews etc
Commenting for the algorithm. Also Bernie Wrightson's style is so unique, I actually wish more modern illustrators copied him.
Thank you very much!
