I grew up reading 2000AD, and I remember seeing his work on Slaine for the first time, it was unbelievable to see art like that in a comic book back then.
Me too, it was the main reason I bought the comic.
Me too. I'd obsessively search out his work. It's amazing all these years later to be able to watch a celebration of his work like this video.
Slaine was my first.. loved it I buy every heavy metal mag with his art in it .. got some lo bo and batman too. The king
exactly me too!!!! it was Slaine that got me into comics and drawing and for years i was searching for that artwork but since back then there was no internet/google and searching for something was alot different lol, it was not until years later that i saw a whole Slaine tome on the shelves of a store and i almost fainted from happiness...
I'm very new to Slaine, younger reader. But his work is amazing and I love all the Slaine stories. So much real unocculted lore.
Old favorite of mine. He brought me into acrylics and into Judge Dredd.
Perhaps the greatest ever, his Slaine stuff is sublime. Someone needs to adapt Slaine
good god no. it would destroy it.
Instantly recognisable. A massive talent. The Horned God blew my tiny mind. It felt 3D and cinematic and pretty damn sexy, too
Dredd was my fav. Mesmerizing.
Seeing his artwork on the covers of Heavy Metal in the grocery stores on the magazine rack was incredible, blew my mind.
I always enjoyed seeing his work in Heavy Metal magazine.👍🏻
and the games.
I went to art school. At the time Frank Miller's dark Knight returns came out. I had almost given up on comics because a lot of the instructors said that ' comics could never be a viable or lucrative art form 'until i saw those Lobo covers. ❤😂
Yeah, I’ve come across a few of those. Except in my case they told me to “grow up!”
🤦♂️
Did you end up making a comic?
@@TheMagicianist oh yeah....☠️♥️🦇💯
Would you be comfortable sharing it? If not, that's completely understandable. @@rickytoddbotelho9555
all schools were such a waste of life. and that was back in the day. now they are straight up evil.
I remember being blown away by his fight scenes, so many bullet casings, holes, debris, beer cans, you name it, it was chaotic but you could tell everything apart. Truly amazing work
Otro grande gracias amigo
Gracias a ti por ver el vídeo y comentar
Bro, I just bought this comic an hour ago and when I arrive home this video pops up XD.
That's a wonderful coincidence
I have met Simon every time he comes to Michigan for the Motorcity comic con.
Have a bunch of his works expanding from his art in comics and in Heavy Metal mag!
And I never forget a bottle of Southern Comfort to give to him every time he shows up!
Thank you very much for the great comment!
Befor your video, I only knew him for Lobo. Thank you for showing me his amazing art.
It is a pleasure for me, it's nice when someone discovers something new through these videos
Incredible artist. 2000AD was a revelation to me as a kid.
Then stay tuned for the next video
There’s something about his work before I knew why I liked it , I liked it 😅👍
La biblia, 12 monedas......arte puro
Dat Lobo🔥🔥🔥
am a painter he was very inspirational as a kid and still is...the doom patrol covers are some of the best covers ever
Great video! Love Bisley.
Thank you very much!
One of my favorites
Heavy metal Fakk 2! Lobo, Judge Dredd and many more.
Must say, he is a really nice dude. I had the pleasure of having a beer with him at a comic convention in Denmark.
his art style is exactly what i was looking for, thx
I love Lobo’s comics
His judge dredd and lobo are the most definitive examples of both characters
Such dynamic and specific style
I was super influenced by his approach at depth and texture
Bisley is the best to EVER do it. Hands down!
I remember when Simon started the Lobo Series, I was like 8-9yrs old. My mom would buy them for me, they were considered Adult 18+.
I was obsessed.
Oh such memories!
Another masterpiece of video!! Thank you for making this series!
Thank you very much for watching it!
He was the first artist who made me go “who drew this cover!” It was the Lobo cover.
Mint video dude.
Biz has always been my favourite artist ever since I saw his run of Slaine 🤘🏽
*This was absolutely awesome! Thx!!*
Thank you for comment!
Bisley is an artistic giant, everything he creates is great but I love his work on Slaine the most.I have read The Horned God more times than I can remember, it is so good.
Simon Bisley one of the most amazing and visceral styles of all time. Would love to see a video on comic artist Stephan Platt
Thank you very much for the suggestion, I will certainly take it into account!
Thank you ,it was inspiring 😊
Thank you for watching the video and commenting
Vídeo Sensacional!
Adimiro a Arte do Simon Bisley desde os anos 90, principalmente com Lobo.
Me alegro que te haya gustado el video.
Been a huge Biz fan since picking up 2000 AD just for his ABC Warriors. I have a lot of his Danzig and Misfits books as well.. but his black and white art on ABC is still my favorite work of his
His covers for Matt Wagner’s Grendel, the War Child run was awesome.
Way beyond better artwork than today's computer drawn comics!
It can be said louder but not clearer!
cg animation was a shortcut, it can only make you weaker in the end. shortcuts are for getting around town not developing talent and skill. same thing will happen with ai now.
its hard to believe he doesnt use airbrush, his early 90s art is amazing
Im pretty sure he has used airbrush in the past (and even spray paints, on his comics)... Or maybe im misremembering things, after all, its been like 20 years since i read some interviews with Kevin Eastman where he mentions how Bisley painted his comics
@@puppeliyou're right, he had used some airbrush on some of his pieces. Most notably the Lobo Last Czarnian covers.
There’s no way Judgment in Gotham has no detailed airbrushing
That's it, and btw, Judgement 2 with Tim Murray is like the best impersonation of Simon, amazing art again, super 3D volumes, shading, and vibrant colours. For me together with Greg Staples , my favorite artists nowadays!@@luciferfernandez7094

His Graphic Novel hardcover books of the A.B.C.Warriors & SLAINE THE HORNED GOD are the next level & hasn't been beat till this day...
Great video Dude 👊🏾👌🏽
Great comment man!...thanks a lot
The way he drew Lobo is legendary
Frank Frazettas influence is evident. He was the OG !
yeah i met him at comicon back in 1998
Lucky you!
Simon hizo las portadas de Loaded y Re Loaded de Plastation one, dos de mis juegos preferidos.👍🏻
i need a videogame based on his art
I've been following his work since the 90s and I'm still not sure if I like it or not.
🤘🏻
Good job with this video ! Are the subtitles automaticly generated by the system as it recognize your voice or did you type them ? Do you use youtube studio for that ?
Partly yes, I copy and paste the text of the script into TH-cam Studios and then the times are automatically generated
@@ArtShutterThanks so much for your time, i will try that ;)
un artista excelente que jamas ha podido salir de su vision infantil del cosmos, hasta su biblia parece ideada por un chico de 15 años. Esto tambien puede considerarse estilo y por tanto, virtud,
Bisley is the ONLY Lobo artist for me.
You see Bisleys artwork and you think "How much more Metal can you get?" And the answer is none.
None more Metal.
Did you see his work in the Hell Angels magazine's.
Didn’t Bisley’s art appear on a Danzig album? Thrall Demonsweat Live???
a mix bertween Brom and Vallejo
Porque el titulo en castellano?
Once he was active on Facebook, under another name. I made friends with him and even got to meet him in Hamburg, one evening.
He is a very sweet guy, but always ready to punch someone's lights out, if he thinks they're an asshole. Built like a tank, so he could do it too. I guess you could say he represents his art, but with a fat topping of whipped cream.
We hit a few bars and after just a few short hours, he was totally drunk, ready to fight or fuck. Luckily he had a lady friend, so she took care of that. 😂😂
Sounds heavy
SLAINE!!! (sorry couldn't make it bigger)
"He chopped off the heads of 100 men on the left, and a hundred more on the right, and it still wasn't enough..."
You should use AI for your voice narration
🤖
dude i love the content but ima be honest here, you really dont have the voice or cadence for this.
Well, I try to do my best
FAR BETTER THE WOKE ARTIST these days
Don't be a fan, all they do is blow. Be an enjoyer.
