dead space 3 ... there is no arguing they dropped the ball, but the space flotilla part and some other episodes of the game were pretty awesome. I can't get enough of that flotilla, i've probably played it hundreds of times.

It's all about action, and "do the same thing a hundred times" gameplay now. Just take a look at Assassins Creed, Far Cry, Tomb Raider, or similar stuff. All completely dumbed down to please the nowadays generation of players.
That's why I love DS2 so much they were not afraid to push the creative boundaries. Shit like that would NEVER EVER fly today. Game's derpy physics actually work for the game's atmosphere. Since Issac is going insane and constantly sees things jumping bodies actually look natural. What a fragile thing human sanity really is and Isaac has an inhumanly strong will to live, for what though?

Man, this is hands down the best Walkthrough, Gameplay, longplay (or call it what you will) of DS2 I've ever seen. You played a practically perfect game, without ever dying, in a good time and showing us every corner of the game and every text and voice message (even the useless messages from the Unitology church). Really great video, super deserved like. You did a very good job :)
In terms of "action horror" it's probably still on top. RE8 feels so clunky sluggish compared to this. Maybe when Callisto Protocol or the DS1 remake comes out it might get usurped. But for now, DS2 is still king 👑
This game was only like 12 or 13 hours to complete. But, it's one of the best ever. You know a game is good when you go back to play part 1 of that game. Love it.
I like how this is being played on the proper gamma/brightness setting. It is DARK in places and is supposed to be. Looks great, nice and scary. So many times I see gameplay vids with overbright settings for games where darkness is a big part of the experience. Makes no sense.
Some of those necromorph-children actually use some screams from the Angry German Kid. I think that alone removes their entire scare factor when they scream like some dude which game won't start. :)
My favorite game of all time, I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve beaten it (lost track after 12), and managed to beat it on hardcore without dying (with the help of a TH-camr’s tips). Just hearing the sound effects and voices takes me back to 2013, the year I became obsessed with it. Still hoping for a DS4 sometime in the future
i love the enclosed, suffocating and paranoia atmosphere in the Titan space city. the gameplay was so effective. and the story worthy of a good chilling sci-fi movie like Event Horizon
Leave it to executives to consistently ruin a franchise in the pursuit of higher profits. They spend so much time chasing their tails and undermining the actual thing that would truly bring them profits - compelling, creative storytelling and fun gameplay. But instead, they impose their limitations onto the people who create the games and swing their corporate dicks around until the franchise is a dried up fart with all the passion leeched out of it. Absolutely worthwhile having the collectors edition with the plasma cutter replica. Still retaining that mix of hideous creepiness and a great shooter. Plus it has one of the most EYE-conic sequences of modern gaming lol

Does it attach itself to your nervous system and then stimulates his muscles to give him the strength to stomp limbs apart? If so, why would patients in a mental hospital have that kind of thing in the first place? Two: augmented to his spine? What does that even mean? Do you mean attached to his spine? If so, then why does it come off so quickly every time Isaac changes suits and you can see a different RIG that goes along with the suit? So is the RIG really attached to his spine? Or is it just there to give readings of his health?

I would've loved the "classic" aiming style used in this video (where your shots are lined up with the position of your character rather than simply tied to a crosshair in the middle of the screen), but oh well.

@Clayton Smith Including the straitjacket Isaac was in at first? I find that highly unlikely. Why would a mental patient's straitjacket enhance their strength? I find it counterproductive.
@Clayton Smith Okay, I have a couple of questions. Let's break it down into two parts.
One: how does something attached to a small portion of his back augment the strength of his legs? Does it attach itself to your nervous system and then stimulates his muscles to give him the strength to stomp limbs apart? If so, why would patients in a mental hospital have that kind of thing in the first place?
Two: augmented to his spine? What does that even mean? Do you mean attached to his spine? If so, then why does it come off so quickly every time Isaac changes suits and you can see a different RIG that goes along with the suit? So is the RIG really attached to his spine? Or is it just there to give readings of his health?

@@sector-7190 But everybody has RIGs. Not just Isaac. But that doesn't mean everybody's an engineer. And if RIGs really do augment your strength, would that mean everybody has the strength to stomp corpses apart?

Replayed this in hardcore mode after the game collected dust for some years. Had a perfect run up until that last part before Ellie stretches her hand to end the game and got struck by a stupid rock. Cruel. :)

Headbutting a necromorph... that on it's own is fucking badass but it was the way Issac just saw him get infected, knew what he had to do and smashed his skull against it so hard that it dies in one hit. He does it all without even looking scared. Didn't even make a sound. Zero fear shown.
