I always try to avoid strereo widening effect on full mixes! I think you should get a perfect stereo width from panning, phase manipulation on individual elements, space and timing effects, ect! In the mixbus if had to apply such effect I’ll look into mid side processing!
Think i prefer StageOne for mastering purposes, it makes things wider more transparently and the phantom center stays in tact. Also, pretty sure the bass came up on StageOne for you because you went -100 width on everything below 521hz
around minute 9:08 where you switch space control in-out I notice that when the effect is on I feel the voice becomes less warm and more "hit radio" like sounding. More like through a "megaphone" in a way. Also the cohesion between voice and bass gets worse. I wonder if it is cause of the crossover point being 200 hz or I am making things up. Stage one sounds more transparent and less "impressive" imho. Dunno. It's like the Space Control is trying too hard but of course cant make an informed summary cause I haven't used it yet. I would be interested for you to test Pulsar Audio P44 Magnum. They claim a lot for a plugin

In this example, I definitely prefer StageOne. Other than the bass boost which is, as other commentators have pointed out, likely the result of the -100 width being set on everything below 521hz. I don’t hear anything even remotely phasey on StageOne. Space Control sounds more like RX Imager to me (just with more control). Which isn’t bad, just a less transparent “widener” effect to my ears. The solo function is really helpful however. I suspect the marked difference in sound between the two is very different algorithms so maybe StageOne can’t solo the bands without breaking its crossover processing.
On this demo I preferred Space Control. The low-low mid build up on Stageone 2 didn't help with this track. Space Control has the solo knob and per band Dry/Wet, whereas Stageone doesn't, unless the Depth parameter is the Dry/Wet? Anyhow, Space Control wins for me.

but why so tiny differences? The real power will showed only @ BIG HUGE differences.
