Diana is a natural *Dramatic Contralto* so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she has increased her range even more since this. She also naturally sings with *polyphonic overtones* so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Any song, any genre, in any language, Diana can sing it and improve it! You need a little back story to understand what helped "create" this unique phenomenon:- Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) a passing relative found her in her home with a broken collarbone and several other injuries. She went for the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! DEE ANNA is a Russian singer and is just 18 here. This was her opening performance on the Russian TV show ShowMaskGoOn where the nine participants judge each other's performances. All except Diana, who was by far the youngest, were seasoned professional singers, and the man who stood up at the end is a world famous opera singer married to an even more world famous opera singer. Diana ultimately won the competition. This was a fun show: the contestants (and one special guest in each episode) were the judges! And there were no prizes to win, and no one got kicked out, so it was more of an opportunity for these nine artists to show their versatility in many different genres.

I've been following her career since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural *Dramatic Contralto* so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she has increased her range even more since this. She also naturally sings with *polyphonic overtones* so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Any song, any genre, in any language, Diana can sing it and improve it! You need a little back story to understand what helped "create" this unique phenomenon:-
Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) a passing relative found her in her home with a broken collarbone and several other injuries. She went for the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage!
This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. A great example of self belief and determination. Diana will not refer to her biological mother as "Mother" and calls her new mum (Irina Ponik) Mum. Hardly surprising that Diana tried hard to forget those years.

One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life.
