I am greek and i love the colonial-napoleonic era of history. I wanted to find a game which has catan and risk on the same game and focusing on this era. I found it! I found someone who heard me! I cant wait to play it brother! Continue the good work
This is such a cool concept. Creating a channel and documenting the process from beginning to end while being entirely open to feedback along the way. Major props dude.
Since it will be a board game, a paper rule book would be nice, and if you do make one, please don’t make the font tiny or the wording to complex. Also, in the future once the game maybe you could make different versions of the game. This game has a very middle era/era of colonisation feel. You could possibly release a version in the modern setting with planes or maybe a futuristic version with portals.
I don't get into long strategy games much anymore, but I like the info on the how-to and behind the scenes decisions on game design and development. New sub! Glad to hear you are going to get some great playtesting and feedback, congrats!
I've been following along for quite a bit now. I always wanted a game like Risk but more Civ-like where players manage resources and settlements rather than raw conquest. I'm excited for the TTS playtest, I have a group of buddies that will definitely play with me.
This is outrageous! I will dedicate my life to dissecting every detail of your game. From the naming to the theme, all the way to the game design, everything will be subject to the strictest criticism. This gentlemanly act is very nice, but when I prove that every little thing is wrong with the game, you won’t be so happy anymore.
i bet i could take out my old settlers of catan board game boxes and use those materials to playtest :D also there are some good reports by people about what challenges they faced when making a board game.
@@julianbirke im very interreted in your menbership i wanna help this project but, do you think you will add a price reduction to everyone who paid the monthly menbership if the game finally concretize
I appreciate you sharing your game design journey; your videos are quite well done. Since you are thinking of self-publishing, Jamey Stegmaier has published a large amount of related information on the Stonemaier Games website and in his book, "A Crowdfunder's Strategy Guide." I've heard quite a few game designers say his insights and advice are extremely useful. I expect you are aware of this, but I wanted to mention it here in case it might be overlooked.
excited to see how it evolves once more people get their hands on it. Also, sorry if my last comment sounded aggressive, I didn't mean it to come off as like "maybe you should ACTUALLY research how forts are REALLY used", it was more meant as just a humble suggestion. I wonder if after this hits stores, if there will be a community around it with house rules and different versions. But that's far into the future, right? Good job so far, and good luck going forward!
Its very fun watching the development of this, I think its headed in a great direction, i just can't shake the feeling that Pincer isnt the best name for the game. I dont think it coneys what the game is about which is so important for marketing. Currently the games art has a victorian or revolutionary war style and I feel language from that era would do a much better job as a title. For example 'Besieged: A Gentlemans Game' or 'Muskets & Mortars' really sells what the game will be about, grand old-fashioned war
hexagonal grid and strategy game? I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!!!! Edit (after actually watching the video lol): This is why is love the internet you can just stumble into a somewhat niche game dev who is making the best looking game you've ever seen yet they only have 3k subs.
I’m excited for the Tabletop simulator and to actually play the game, but I have a comment on the “members only streams” people who are willing to pay money for the channel are (in my opinion) likely to be biased positively towards the game, not a the end of the world issue but probably something to take into notes.
@@julianbirke maybe a stretch goal. A benchmark where if enough money comes in for your crowdfunding campaign you make an exclusive addition or something extra to reward your gracious backers. So for games that included minis, like "fire team zero" there were additional minis added that could only be obtained if you back the Kickstarter campaign. But it's late now, if you're still confused I can explain more tomorrow.
I personally hate tabletop simulator But I have shop in Cyprus with a playroom if you are able I’m interested in buying some playtest alpha copies for helping you playtest
Hello again, I’m still here to bug you about historical inaccuracies. Please rename the musketmen to something else I beg of you Please It hurts my soul
@@julianbirke I think you should only call them musketeers if it’s set in the 1600s, which it isn’t, so line infantry would be more accurate. But then again, not everything about this game has to be historically accurate, so be sure to choose which you feel is best
"If you love it, please let me know. If you hate it, please let me know even more so." NO! Bad designer! Naughty! I'll explain: Suppose everyone ranks the game out of 10. If I rank it a perfect 10, this means I will not only purchase the game, all add ons, and all sequels, but I'll also recommend it to everyone. Essentially free advertising. If I rank it a 9, I'll still buy everything, but maybe keep the excitement to myself. A rank of 8 means I'm buying the base game for sure, though I may not necessarily get around to playing it. A rank of 7? I'm absolutely worthless to you. I may as well be a 0. There is no functional difference between 0 and 7, except that a 0 will actively try to deplatform you, which, if it fails, results in more free advertising for you. So your goal is to push everyone as far away from 7 as possible. If a playtester says to me, "This game is perfect. It might make the game worse, but have you considered...?" whatever they say next is pure gold. Write it down, print it up, test it, and add it to the game. If a playtester says, "This game was pure trash, but it would be a lot better if..." write their suggestion down out of politeness, but give it no more weight than a random cluster of leaves falling on the ground. Sure, it might inspire you, but it has no authority. Only 8 and above matters.

What i think is a good idea is if you add the option for at least three people to play as opposed to only 2.
