I never understand why people deride the '94 Crow saying "it's very much of its time," as if that's a bad thing. The fact that it's so unabashedly '90s is a huge part of its charm as far as I'm concerned.
It’s aged gracefully when I first saw it months ago and the soundtrack is still incredible and fits with the goth/industrial style of the original comic. I think they’re saying that because it’s a common complaint to be fair to newcomers but there’s later films in the last decades where they use harsh color gradients to look grungy or gritty or snappy unrealistic dialogue and they have aged like swiss cheese.
regarding vampires turning into bats. What if you see this vampire turning in to a bat to get away from Van Helsing and suddenly a hawk swoops down and just eats the vampire.
2:32:45 best part of that scene when Eric intervenes to sarah(?)s mother was after he takes the poison out of her arm, he said "Mother is the name of god on the lips of children" reminding her about how she's failed sarah, and she actually cares but has given up on herself. There's such a nice redemption arc for her... I identified with the kid when i saw it (i was in HS) and now i can sympathize with the mother, esp because his intervention works (esp. he killed her abuser) but he got her clean and then reminded her of what is really important. She makes breakfast the next day and the girl rejects it and the mom crumbled immediately. And then the girl realized that her mother is really trying, and softens. Every modern parent can relate to not being quite enough, so that scene (regardlees of the greater context) kills by itself Sounds like the remake misses all the heart of the movie
Definitely agree. Mom was lost in a world of dr**s, debauchery, violence, downward spiral... kind of says "children are the light" sort of deal... and parents really are a kid knows because it's SUPPOSED to be "mom" and " dad" protecting them.
The production of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was crazy. Agreed the film isn't that great but wow did they try to make lemonade out of lemons. Great stream as always!
Well putting it back up was always the plan. I wonder what is the better gameplan in the long run, unlisting or outright making the original streams unavailable. Most channels unlist, thus leaving the original recording available to those who have the link. Those making the original unavailable force a view on their archive channel but rely on people knowing about their secondary channel and actively hunting down the upload.
1:25:00 - Yes, John W. Campbell's "Who Goes There?" was the story for "The Thing." It was the basis for the '50s version (very, very loosely) and for Carpenter's masterpiece.
So about the still frame: Bill Skarsgard can move his eyes independently as we know from IT. But was there a reason for him to do it in this still frame? Because yeah he’s looking slightly in different places.
On the topic of Romulus, I don't understand why they didn't just try to ape on Alien: Isolation. It would have been a little lazy sure, but a movie basing itself on a game that's a sequel to a movie would be interesting and the plot of Isolation is so much more self-contained and easy to work with.
Noooo no no... Platoon said boogie should get no money... No NOTHING... Platoon was a bit out of line... Jedi brooks needs to be put in his place... WOW
9:00 Yeah, the main villian in the original doesn't even get name dropped (Top Dollar) and doesn't even really come into the film until the last 45min. I'ts mostly just Eric, Sarah, her mom, and the cop Ernie Hudson dealing with the aftermath of their deaths...
Regarding the original Crow vs this shit. One of the huge differences is that in the original Shelly is already dead, we only see her in a couple flashbacks. And still you care more for their relationship than you do for the two people who is supposed to be Eric and Shelly in the new one.
Thanks to LP for his RoP reviews. Saved me (a Tolkien nerd) from watching it and introduced me to other YT reviewers like Drinker, Mauler and your good selves.
51:07 TRIGGERED The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is one of my personal bugbears - because it was _this_ close to being a fantastic movie, but after Heath Ledger died the entire thematic core of the film was changed, and they did it in the most ham-fisted way possible. They fucked up the symbolism of the Hanged Man, they fucked up Heath Ledger's scenes by recontextualizing his character as a villain, and the film winds up feeling like it wants to entirely reject the idea of imagination in favor of mundanity, because 'LyInG iS bAd!'.
Regarding time to upload things. I'm a bit older then you guys, born 1965. I remember uploading my music in wav form on a 28.8 modem. it took all day for a 5 min song, and if someone phoned me during the process it would cut off and I had to restart again.
I think the crow would be good in a horror perspective, you are less concerned about him dying but you each the enemies slowly go mad trying to get away from him
Don't let ppl give u ish... I honestly think we should do any dr** we want in moderation. I use kratom 4 times a day and I run 6 miles everyday. Ppl who may have never touched anything are still eating McDonald's all day or sitting on their behind doing nothing... they're much less healthy than us.
"The sleek genericness of the Czech Republic". I take offence to that. The fact hack hollywood directors can make the Czech Republic bland and boring isn't the CR's fault! There are loads of different and awesome location they could have used, not even just in Prague. There are many cities built by the previous regime with industrial ruins and desolated districts. There are many abandoned mining facilities, you could have gone with great visual metaphors of the underworld and rebirth. You want gritty realism? Go in some of conglomerates of housing projects: rows upon rows of grey, beehive-like buildings with drunks and homeless people rotting in their shades. They just were lazy and uninspired.
100 mins long...and 90 of those are badly acted, badly written & blandly shot garbage. There is one 10 minute sequence in the opera house which is actually not bad at all. But it's too little too late! The leads have zero chemistry! Bill is a good actor, but surprisingly miscast here while FKA should stick to music because she's a terrible actress! The soundtrack doesn't suck, but the songs feel so randomly thrown in with little thought given to why they're there other than "it might make wake up us Goths"...AWFUL FILM OVERALL!
Y’all are awesome 💗💗 Thanks for the shout outt
Great to see your work getting some recognition. You deserve it! 👍
Love your work Nutsa, keep it up!!!
*You* are awesome!
Really enjoying the various panels Drinker, Echo and BSUP. They are far more entertaining than just about any of the current movies/TV.

Why is NerdyFlimGirl not a guest on the panel?
The viewers vote for NerdyFlimGirl to guest star 🥳
@@Pooh0Bear8 everytime, too.
Glad this got put back up, I was watching it last night and couldn't find it this morning to finish it when I woke up 🗿
