- In this video join me as I make homemade soap. Soap making is fun project to try at home and we can absolutely customize the soap to our liking. Coconut oil and palm oil are hard oils and will create a hard soap while almond oil, olive oil are soft oils and will create a softer soap. By balancing the ratios of oils, we can balance the cleaning power, moisturizing and the foaminess of the soap.

We need to cut the soap after it sets overnight and then they have to dry for about 4 weeks in a over air area before they are ready to use. Friends, please do try this homemade soap at home and customize them your way.

*Please don’t add water to caustic soda(NaOH), there is good chance it can explode. Slowly add caustic soda particles to water.
*It is recommended to use online lye calculator, the measurements of lye can vary depending on the type of oil used.
*Test the ph of the final product. If it is too high, don’t use the soap or else it can cause skin irritation. The ph can be tested using the ph paper strips.

I am an amateur soap maker too. I have some tips
1. Using sodium lactate solution would help to get the soap harder.
2. Adding sugar will help to lather better
3. Castor oil also helps in good lather . I use about 5% in all soaps.
4. Fragrance oil works better and essential oils not needed as you are going to wash them away.
5. Most important : lye can be very dangerous. It can cause blindness if it gets into your eyes . Please use safety googles.
I really appreciate your enthusiasm and creativity. I thought I would share this with you as you may find it useful.
Also try making body butters. Super easy and very effective on skin!

I too am a soap maker . I use caustic soda available in the hardware store. The results are some time good and some time not so satisfactory.
Where can we get good lye and sodium lactate and fragrance oils?
I live in Chennai. Veda online is too pricy. What are the other options?

Very nice and useful vlog. Only thing Steffi here in Sri Lanka olive oil is very very expensive. We can't even think of mixing with that ratio. Coconut oil is of course is ok. Alandra is so cute

Hello steffi, seems like you have practiced a lot in soap making and have becone a pro,please put english subtitles in your vedio so that it will be veru helpful for small scale soap startups.
The soap should be made only with safety precautions.
1) You have to wear goggles as the lye solution if entered into the eye can be very risky to the eyes.
2) the caustic soda should be slowly added to the water (the correct method) ..if it's done vice versa chances are it will explode.
3) A mask for the nose is a must. The fumes while making the lye if inhaled can be very dangerous.
Please guide your subscribers too sis as many will try to make by watching your video.
