Methods of Application of Biochar in Soil
Biochar is a soil amendment that can improve soil fertility, increase crop yield, and sequester carbon.
There are several methods of applying biochar to soil:
Broadcast and incorporation
Banding, spot, and ring.
According to a study published in Open Agriculture, the spot and ring methods of application significantly enhanced height, girth, nodule number, dry weight, shoot biomass, and grain yield as well as N and P contents in shoots and grains when compared with the broadcasting method and control.
In addition to the application method, other factors such as moisture content, nutrient variety, and soil-borne microbes can also affect the efficacy of biochar.
