*Just like taken from a 1984 tour but with pink hair* *Timeless Cyndi, timeless song timeless emotion and timeless frozen moment in time to watch over and over*
This performance on ACL is really top notch and puts cyndi on top of all female rockers IMO.I absolutely love her guitarist Alex. She has an awesome old school way about her and owns that telecaster!
yes....and he later formed "Delta Moon", a Georgia based blues/Americana band....check 'em out, they kill....unfortunately, Tom has serious health issues now
While it's a pity ACL's caption seems to credit Lauper as the song's composer (Tom Gray wrote it, but Cyndi had the hit) her arrangement does add one thing of genuine significance-namely, the chorus at the end. It's different than the in-stream chorus, and turns Gray's chorus into a tension-builder for the much more momentous, almost "Heroes"-like variation of the finale, i.e. "moneeeeeeyyyy.... chan-ges evvvv-reeee-thing"-which is arguably the hook that puts the whole thing over. The Brains came out with a great original song, but Lauper's version is a stone-cold classic.
How can she be in her sixties and still belt this out? Amazing!
She belongs in the rock and roll Hall of Fame.
Cindy Lauper IS the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
@@mickberry164 She's not unfortunately
I had the honor of seeing her with Rod Stewart in Detroit and it was absolutely spiritual . Best show I've ever seen

The Brains' Tom Gray wrote the finest rock and roll song Cyndi ever sang ... or ever will sing.

@@larryc3860 And sadly Tom passed away earlier today... 😧
@@bruceroberts3210 Sad......another musical giant now in Heaven's band, teaching slide guitar to anyone who'll listen
This song is even better when you realize that Ed Helms from Hangover is playing the keyboards :-D

Check out The Brains original version.
just heard that Tom Gray of the Brains passed today....he wrote this and many other great tunes....check out his later work with "Delta Moon"
@@larryc3860 Sad to hear. He was a good and talented man.
I don't understand how can be people sit down on the first row and clapping hands so boring... what a lame crowd!
I agree
That's what I thought
At least singing along with euphoria
it's odd....the ACL audience was usually into the performances......
I still want to marry her.
I sent her a letter when I was 12.
One of these days...

Not the type of venue for this type of song, or is it and perhaps Ms. Cyndi could not deliver.
