galaxy express 999 is not official to galaxy railways. galaxy express 999 is its own movie that takes place in the same universe as galaxy railways. letters from an abandoned planet doesnt count because its a crossover special that isnt canon to galaxy railways.
I’d call it semi canon then. Because we saw the brother boarding the 999 even tho it makes no sense as he could’ve just take the 550 to Destiny instead. Maybe for some reference and foreshadowing that he's never coming back Also the SDF was mentioned and shown the the GE 999 shows

@@zphotography7305 doesn't seem likely... He would've had to go to Destiny in order to be initiated into the SPG... The only other explanation would be that he got sent out to his first mission a couple weeks after he went to Destiny.
