Great video! I saw so many videos from the Apex location but it is nice to see one that will probably be more typical. I’m totally fine with Sheetz. They have great food and coffee and clean bathroom. I used a couple of superchargers at Sheetz on my Thanksgiving trip. We really need IONNA to succeed. I keep hearing FUD about slow EV adoption but my real life experience is that we don’t have enough charging infrastructure for the cars that already exist. Charging stations have gotten much more busy this Christmas compared to even last year. It seems like our problem has gone from unreliable stations (which is still a problem but getting better) to not enough, at least in Atlanta where I live.
1000% agree. Maybe EV adoption isn't growing as fast as people would like but every East Coast trip I take these days has a wait for CCS. And I'm talking 8 and 10 stall locations.
@@patrick7228 It's mostly the main media pushing that narrative. EV adoption is still setting records. The 3rd quarter of 2024 was the highest sales quarter for full EV's ever in America. And the 4th quarter is supposed to surpass that. They're just comparing it to the previous growth rates of 50% and higher. But once the the sales numbers get this large, well over a million, it never stays at those unsustainable growth rates. But the total numbers are still growing nicely.
Well, Christmas over, life restarts. Here's hoping the EV revolution gathers steam in the coming year and that Equinox, Bolt, Blazer, Silverado, and every brand of EV proliferates.
Thanks for the video. I will probably try to get to that site in the next few days. Was wondering about something. That site has both CCS and Nacs connectors. I have an ID.4. If all of the CCS connectors were taken and I have an adapter, can I use one of the Nacs chargers with my adapter. I assume that should work. Thoughts?
I really like the nostalgic design of the cabinets and IONNA's intent to have an overhead awning at their locations. However, having experienced people who park their car at charging stations for hours, the "no idle fee" policy is a huge mistake.
I've never been to a Sheetz, but I've heard they're really nice places to pop into when you're on a road trip. Too bad we don't have anything like that on the West Coast.
At 8:32 in the video you select the teardrop with the lightning bolt I do that with my 2024 equinox EV and I get an error. Did you have to do anything to make that work previously?
@@EvMan6466 Are you getting error 302 or 303? You need to log out/delete your mychevrolet vehicle account off the vehicle (under settings accounts) and log back in using the mychevrolet app in the vehicles infotainment. This is a well known error message. GM is working on a permanent fix but this work around is fine. :)
Cool! That's quite a commitment to make that trip in order to do a review. Thanks. About the $75 hold on your card, most times, if there's a hold on mine, it's $50. We just got home from a 4k mille trip to AZ from FL. In Junction, TX we charged next to a Hummer. It had been there almost an hour and a half and was up to over $108. I'd hate to road trip one of those!! But that kind of explains the $75 hold. Makes it look inadequate, actually. LOL! Anyway, another good vid. I can't wait to see these chargers proliferate.
Anywhere there is a station to clog up, they make sure to show up. They claim it's a good EV if you have home charging, yet they are always on public stations taking up the highest speed chargers available for their 50kW charging speed EV. They must have thrown a fit when they got here and discovered they were all the same speed.
Thank you for mentioning the $75 credit card hold. I am heading to the one in Ohio and I wasn’t sure which card I was going to use because that reason. Now I do 😄
After seeing someone's review of the new 120-stall Supercharger in Barstow, CA without a single bathroom, this is a much nicer setup. Tesla has a Robotaxi strategy with their Superchargers. If the autonomous cars don't have drivers then they don't need bathrooms.
@@treads2595 Tesla is the only one who invented the name north american charging standard. But it is not a standard - it was not adapted - J3400 was adopted. Tesla's NACS was not.
I don't see why the people that set up these chargers don't have a way that you can Poll beside the charger just like a normal guess Pump, how many gas pumps do you see with a curb in front of it and then you try to stretch the hose up To the fill cap. It's beyond me how some engineer never figured this out yet.😵😵💫
The problem here is space at this location. It is on the backside of the Sheetz. No new construction was made. Just chargers put in the space of the existing parking lot. If you are not from the area it is not visible from the main road either.
It's all about space. You need much more chargers than gas pumps per site and this is how it is best utilized. If you notice on the EVgo Flying J pull through stations all they have is mostly 2 chargers, or 4 at the most. These locations don't have that much space to share. All you need is a couple of pull through for anyone who is towing, and the rest they way they are now.
Love your channel.
I have high hopes for Ionna to come to the Mountain time zone. Wishing GB the worst of luck Sunday. SKOL!
One of my favorite EV channels simply because of the eye candy and I’m not talking about the Equinox. 😉
Good job. Ionna will be a game changer depending on the quantity of chargers and the location of chargers.
It was great meeting you at Apex! Glad to see this one is open too.
Good video! I went to the Springfield, Ohio location and posted a video about it on my channel as well.

$0.47 is pretty competitive.

Yes that would work! A2Z is great! Link in description.
Hope they come to Canada soon especially in Quebec and Ontario.
Thanks!

The rode micro sounds good. I'm trying out the DJI Mini right now versus the Hollyland Lark M2
The State of Washington needs more chargers. Ionna, come on out to the Pacific Northwest, we need you!!

Americans experiencing proper DC hardware.
It is J3400 handles - NACS is not a real standard.
A lot of people in the EV community call it this since its the acronym. Not sure why that bothers you, but it is accurate.

I wonder why they would advertise no idol fee, like that's a good thing?
I did think that was weird!
The $0.47 says it’s an introductory price and doesn’t include tax. It will go up eventually.
Only Tesla includes tax so it was a $.09 difference. My impression was introductory implied it could go up or down based on utilization.
I would film gaming up my Titan, but it only takes a few minutes, and the gas pumps always work. EVs suck especially the chargers.
What’s funny is I charge 95% of the time at home!
Could you elaborate on why EVs suck? Would love to hear your perspective.
Hello world
The credit hold of $75 is concerning. Why so much?
Have you never been to a gas station?
Probably because they don’t have an app yet where you can set up automatic credit card payment.
