Growing in spades since their EP, Passover showcases a band on the make. Spiraling upwards to the skies with the enemy straight on their trail, "The Sniper At The Gates Of Heaven" sees The Black Angels reaching high and stretching out with trance-inducing guitar lines from Christian Bland, Nate Ryan's filthy medical dumpster bass, and the grizzly preacher vox of lead shaman Alex Maas. "Black Grease" is a bluesy monster full of swagger propelled by the primitive beat of drummer Stephanie Bailey and the mourning drone of organist Jennifer Raines.

Funny because the release date of this song was only 2 months before the canon game outbreak day in TLOU.
This song doesn't appears in Spec Ops. You maybe have confused this song with "Bad VIbrations" from the same band. Sorry for my bad english and tell me if Im wrong about Spec Ops.

Yeh I wouldn't want any band I like to have a successful profitable sustainable career in music. I mean bands that struggle tend to fight, go broke, break up and get a day job instead. That's be much better than them getting exposure and continuing on making the music that I love.

What is this mysterious genre of rock and why haven't I heard much about it. The nearest thing it reminds me of is punk and all that "underground" "rebel" type stuff but this seems deeper than all that stuff
I hear quite a lot of late 60s psychedelic rock here, some early 70s heavy metal, a bit of 80s post punk and 90s alternative/desert/fuzz rock, then just a pinch of 00s stoner doom added, all blended into each other very well, and there you have it. Check out the bands Blue Öyster Cult, The (Southern Death) Cult, Heroes del Silencio and The Atomic Bitchwax next. And maybe early Monstermagnet (before they got straight and sold out as Monster Magnet).

This is like taking Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida, and the stoner metal and 60s psychedelia & Sons of Anarchy and throwing it in blender. It's the best thing ever.
