@poorboysrc cool. I dont think I'll be a contender for top speed so I want to just have some fun and try make something that is a bit crazy and stand out.
Here is a Poor question, Are you allowed to cut the wheel arches in the "Brushless" class to retro fit the wheels of your choice? So a Tamiya shell might not look like what it initially started as? Or must it resemble the original silhouette? Thanks
Well, the max tire diameter is 65mm, so I can't imagine any 1/12 or even 1/10 body having smaller arches than that? Shoot me an email at poorboysrc78@gmail.com if we need to discuss further. 👍🏻
So for hop up parts is it limited to just stock tamiya parts and tamiya hop ups? Or any available part that you can buy in the market? Servo saver broke and going to throw the stampede servo saver have in it instead.
Okay, here we're discussing the rules in our whattsapp group. You defined the batteries for class 1 very well. Then the overlay text for class 2 says 3s. Then you talk about the rules for 1 & 2 and not a word about the capacity of the ones for class 2. I apologies, if I had missed something. But to keep it clear, brushless is max 3S, right?
Hahaha, my wife can take her put to dinner to help explain. I've got her on payroll, so she'll make sure there's no more RC limitations in your house. 🤣🤣🤣👊🏼
Hey Fil, just to clarify about the tyre size. If you have the MF-01X Jimny then it comes with wheels that are about 50mm diameter and the type of rally block tyres that you get with say a TT-02 rally. They are more like 70mm diameter to the edge of the tread so are these not allowed despite being standard equipment on that car? We had been discussing it in a chat group so I said I'd check. Cheers mate 😁
Great question, Pete. Mark Bryan asked the same one in a PM last week, it seems the Tamiya Rally Blocks will be a popular tire choice this year. I say go ahead and run them, if that's what you're aiming to use. I'll update Ze Rulez in another video soon, and I'll include this change. 👍🏻
@@poorboysrc Thank you for hosting again! The kit is still on the way. Open is likely but I'd like to see what this kit is all about. I have a lot of builds going on right now. I'll figure out which parts go on which car when I know what's possible.

@@poorboysrc Thank you so much i just got back from my storage unit and retrieved my Suzuki Jimny XF-01X kit that I started back in 2015, I'm knocking off the dust and going to the races with it! I'm going to run a brushed setup and plan to keep it sane, fingers crossed haha, again thank you for hosting this fun and exciting project that we can all get involved in, with the intent of having fun with Tamiya RC cars that most of us did as a kid. Now it's off to the races!
Knew i got that speed checker for a reason, i have two questions, 1. Any tamiya body for all classes? So i can throw a small buggy body on or car body only? 2. Do they have to remain 4wd?
@poorboysrc I have never seen it until that very short clip of yours. The motor location. Suspension. Battery tray. Other things... Are option parts available, such as oil filled shocks and adjustable gearing? Can you show the underside as well. I might be tempted to enter. In the 80s I had a Frog. Currently I have two TT-02s and one TT-01. Thanks for the response.
Phil I got a question does it have to be the exact mf01x chassis i have an integy 3racing mini chassis which is an equivelant to the actual mf01f chassis the only main difference is mine is belt drive and not shaft drive. I really want to compete in the brushed class only, and like some of the other guys just can’t afford to buy another chassis right now
So got another question after doing a bunch of research it seems like the mf01x chassis and the mb01 chassis are exactly the same other than body options and rally tires vs street tires. This is what is so frustrating about tamiya they use the same chassis give it a different number and a different body yet it is the exact same car. Does anyone know is there just a chassis kit available for this car
@rickzfpv3118 I've never seen just a chassis kit available, but I live in Canada where we get slim pickings. Try Googling it, or searching some of the online Chinese and Japanese hobby shops to see what they have. 👍🏻
Would I be allowed to record the speed on my phone? Or do I have to get a speed thing? Planned on taping the phone inside the body since it worked great last time for speed running my vendetta lol
@@poorboysrc awesome. Going to get into my build ASAP 💸😂 just wanted to make sure it would still be a valid testing option for speed before I destroy my beetle for no reason lol.
I'm considering entering class 1. Just a few questions. Tamiya body ‐ any tamiya body or any m range body or must it be a mf01x body? No 3d printed parts ‐ are old-school mods to body acceptable like vents and plastic glue add-ons ok? Any tire brand and rim brand ok? I'm sure more questions will pop up from me.
@Rooivok welcome aboard, we'd love to have you! - Any Tamiya body is OK. - No 3D printed parts - Plastic vents and glued on bits ok - Any tire and rim ok. Just 65mm diameter max. Cheers!
Wings are OK, as long as they're "off the shelf" and not 3D printed. Not everyone has a 3D printer, so this helps level the playing field for all entrants. 👌

Hahaha, get to work, James! That way you can buy more RC cars! 😁
@@poorboysrc l didn't get fired yet😉
My mf-01x is sitting with a giant 1:8 brushless in it from years back. It's wildly unstable lol
Haha, I believe it! It's a pretty small chassis for big power. But I'm sure there's a bunch of guys out there dying to make it work! 🤣👍🏻💨💨💨
Always a great intro, Fil!! 👍👍
I have 2 MF-01X chassi!!! And 3 bodies..... still uncut and unpainted. 😮😞
So..... no 6S?? 😂😅
What I still don't have, and can't afford, is a GPS speedometer..... 😭😭😭😭 I may be the ONLY one.
But if all possible, I'm IN! I've missed everyone's challenges in the past 3 years. I'm excited about this.
Hi Carmine. I sent you an email with a link to an inexpensive GPS/Speed reader. Hopefully it fits the budget and you can compete this year. 👍🏻
@poorboysrc Thanks Fil, I'll take a peek. Party on Dude!
(I never get tired of Bill & Ted references)
@@poorboysrc One of the RARE occasions when it's good to be an American.....
$23.99 here! Believe it or not, I don't have it. But I'm going to try to sell something....
I'm not one to give up easily! My last speed challenge I used a M-05, 5500kv brushless, and 4S! It was verified at 59mph! My wife's dad is a Sheriff, it was filmed by me driving, and dad-in-law shot it with his radar gun!!
Dude!! Almost 60mph in an M-05.... was TERRIFYING!!! I'm hoping that all-wheel-drive, even in a tiny RC, won't be as nerve-racking....🙏
Don't have my father-in-law to verify this time.
I'll get a GPS! How much time do I have again? I don't want to end up bogus. I need FUN! 🎸 🎸 🎸
Is it time?😂 same here loosing hair as well😅 let me see if I can get this chassis. Thanks for giving us lots of time to look for one👍
Is it time??? Haha! RC Mart has lots of inventory on both the chassis and upgrades. And good prices, too! 👊🏼
Awesome chassi for speed run challenge 😂 Not sure I'm participating yet, but I will definitely follow the competition. You are doing a great job with these challenges Fil 👏
Hope to see you out there speed runnin' like a mad man! 😂💨💨💨🍻
If only I had seen this earlier I would have joined. Just too busy right now to pursue hobbies haha
Ah, too bad! You've got all month still! Contest ends Sept 30th.
If not, we'll do it all again next year on a new chassis. 👍🏻
@poorboysrc I did notice but even the rollers here are over £150 used which is probably not worth the hassle would rather get a rlaarlo or an arrma fury for that 😆
Cool! I might throw something together and see what it can do 👍
Excellent! We'd love to have ya! 👍🏻
Nice......
You coming back for more this year, Paul?

I know the pain. I just picked up the 959.

Project 959??? Ooooh, so nice!!! Don't go speed running that one! 😳
@@poorboysrc most definitely not Fil. I am unboxing tonight, sniffing the contents then putting it away for a rainy day,..... although that could be today looking at the weather 🤣🤣

It's a rally chassis! We should have to do it on dirt! 😂 That would be wild
Oh man, the carnage would be through the roof! Do you work for Tamiya? Are you just trying to boost parts sales? 😅
It’s sad people in new Zealand like me get screwed by others but I’m going in it this year and I won’t win but be fun
It's all about having a good time, my friend. If you won, you win. But just by competing, I assure you you'll have a great time and meet cool folks! 😎
Hey Fil, can it be ANY Tamiya body or specific to the MF01X chassis kits?
I want to know this as well.
@@Paul__FC hopefully it is any.... i do have the original escort that'll do for starters as its sat in the box. We shall await Sir Fil and his clarification.
@rivierarc I messages him. I have a few re-production bodies to choose from. Group C bodies were something I was looking at.
It can be ANY Tamiya body. Repro included.
@@poorboysrc oooh.... EXCELLENT 😀😀😀😀
This sounds fun. Now where am I going to find the money for this plus my other projects lol
I hear you can sell sperm for $50/cup! That's good RC money right there! ✅️
OK then, I'm interested! 😂😂 For the open class, can the body be anything as long as it is a tamiya shell, even if for a completely different chassis?
Sweet! I'm excited to have you in the SRC! 😄
In the open class, yes, you can use any Tamiya body you wish. Even if it's for a completely different chassis. 👊🏼
@poorboysrc cool. I dont think I'll be a contender for top speed so I want to just have some fun and try make something that is a bit crazy and stand out.

Oh well, looks like i need to buy another rc car 😁 just need to decide if i go brushed or brushless 🤔
More RC's = Happy man! 😊
@@poorboysrc i just hope we have some days it aint raining to get out, its ment to be summer, and some places are getting flood alerts 😮
You can use non-Tamiya parts. 👍🏻
Sorry for any confusion, Dirk. You're correct, 3S is the max foe the brushless class. 👌
Have fun everyone we’re out this year
😭😭😭
It seems I know what I have to order now 😅👍

@@poorboysrc thanks man can’t wait… ordering one right now..
i was hoping for a tamiya tank speed run
Hahaha maybe one day. They're pretty tough on the budget, but maybe one day we'll try them out. 😉
@@poorboysrc ah that's good because on the rough tarmac the rally blocks seem to grip the best. Many thanks 😁👍👍
@@PeteWylieRC I hear they're also good for giant grassy rams at the end of a car park! 😉🤣👊🏼

He's back! Open class, I presume? 👊🏼
@@poorboysrc Thank you for hosting again! The kit is still on the way. Open is likely but I'd like to see what this kit is all about. I have a lot of builds going on right now. I'll figure out which parts go on which car when I know what's possible.
I found this video today and am interested in the idea of this challenge I happen to have an (MF-01X) kit that I never finished as I primarily do crawlers so slow is what I know so maybe I'll consider brushed class
Awesome, dude! Come on in and join in the fun! Watch this video and the next one "Ze Rules, Part Deux" to familiarize yourself with all the rules, and jump on in! We'd love to have ya! 🤗
Does any tire go in open class? I'm very interested this year last year I caught wind too late and couldn't make a pass.
Any tire you want in the open class.
Yep, any tire. 👍🏻
Knew i got that speed checker for a reason, i have two questions,
1. Any tamiya body for all classes? So i can throw a small buggy body on or car body only?
2. Do they have to remain 4wd?
Any Tamiya body for all classes. ✅️
Yes, they have to remain 4WD. ✅️
Might of finally found a purpose for my mf01 Suzuki
It wants to go fast, it told me. 😁
Show more of the chassis, please .
What is it that you would like to see?
@poorboysrc
I have never seen it until that very short clip of yours.
Thanks for the response.
hahah this is wonderful! but that means i have to buy a Tamiya??? lol
Hahaha, I won't tell the Kyosho family you've defected. 😂
By hop ups, not just Tamiya hop ups? Any brand hop ups?
Correct. Any brand of hop ups that are available on the market are good to go! 👍🏻
👍
Come on join in!
So if I run the brushless class I can run any tamiya factory body?
Yes sir!
Phil I got a question does it have to be the exact mf01x chassis i have an integy 3racing mini chassis which is an equivelant to the actual mf01f chassis the only main difference is mine is belt drive and not shaft drive. I really want to compete in the brushed class only, and like some of the other guys just can’t afford to buy another chassis right now
Hey bro, sorry, but it's only MF01x chassis' allowed. We'd love to have you competing with us pal. See if you can make it happen! 😉
@@poorboysrc yeah ill see what i can do about getting one.
@@poorboysrc ok i will see what I can find
Dang so your telling me this poor boy has to buy another rc i don't already have to have fun lol. Well i guess you twisted my arm enough.
@@dirtshart twist, twist, twist those arms. This is the way! 😊
When you say tamiya body, does that mean it has to be one of the kit bodies or any tamiya produced body?
It can be any Tamiya body. Including reproductions from aftermarket suppliers. 👍🏻
Fil answered my email, it's any Tamiya produces body not one that specifically comes with the MF01X chassis.
Would I be allowed to record the speed on my phone? Or do I have to get a speed thing? Planned on taping the phone inside the body since it worked great last time for speed running my vendetta lol
@@brantleemolloy1571 you can, but just be careful not to wreck your phone. 😉
- No 3D printed parts
- Plastic vents and glued on bits ok
- Any tire and rim ok. Just 65mm diameter max.
Cheers!
@@poorboysrc thanks. Just got a GPS speed skyrc gsm020. Cost more than the mf01x kit itself
can we add a 3d printed wing or lexan and plastic wing only for brushed and brushless?
That is crucial in deciding body styles.
Wings are OK, as long as they're "off the shelf" and not 3D printed. Not everyone has a 3D printer, so this helps level the playing field for all entrants. 👌
Can I run a Carten M210?
Nope. Tamiya MF-01x is the chassis this year. 👍🏻
Well I'm out do not have the money for the car. I have have so many Tamiya but not one of these.
Oh no, that's too bad. I was hoping everyone from last year could participate again. 😭
I thought you might of done all m chassis. But got close.
Very good guess, Brad! 👍🏻
Why MF01X boring!
