Huge relief that cutting a 5mm tube to length and drilling a couple holes in it won't be considered "Open Class"... 😆😆😆 Good that there is a bit of reasonability, I have some pretty regular hobbyist things I'll be doing but still running a non-winning setup, he he... Thanks for the info. I've only one thing. Maybe for next year. The name of the event is kind of bulky. For the headlines, SEO, tags, etc. Is it possible to find some shorter branding for it? PoBoSpeeCha or something short and grippy?
@RCBirds ah, an excellent point, Dirk. For tags, you can just use @poorboysrc - which isn't too bad. As for the whole event name being shortened, I agree, it'd help. I've been using "SRC" OR "PBRC SRC" on the fb group and in many social media posts. I'll continue that trend moving forward. Feel free to do the same. I will still bounce back and forth between the full name and the acronym, as I'm a firm believer in branding. This is year #3 organizing this event, and it's become quite popular. Some others have even tried copying it, which I find amusing (they say imitation is the highest form of flattery, right😅). So you'll still see me use the long name at times, because I am very proud of this event and what it means to people. Myself included. It's a lot of work, it's a heck of a lot of fun. I do have a pretty fast MFX-01. Has a full bearing kit (obviously) and the yeah racing long arm kit. Put the biggest pinion that would fit (21? 22? I can't remember) and stuck it on the end of a Traxxas Vellinion brushless motor/esc and an aluminum motor mount. I put a ball differential in the front, and then overkilled it with another ball diff for the rear. I shoudla splurged and got some proper shocks, the $20 Amazon specials i got for it suck a$$. Then i did some unintentional weight reduction simply by crashing it enough times to make the bumpers invisible, and then one of the rear control arms changed it's mind about it's role in life when it broke right off the chassis. In true Tamiya fashion, it takes very little to get one of these to haul more ass than they ever should 👌
Yeah those super cheap Amazon shocks sure do suck, don't they? I've tried them in the past with bad luck as well. You gonna join us in the craziness this year?
@@poorboysrc some how, two of them worked fine, and the other two are hot garbage. They don't leak, they just don't dampen at all! I don't have a camera or a GPS at the moment. Nor have I ever attempted recording and or uploading anything. But I know people that do! Idk yet
While it's got zero to do with the speed challenge, I did just purchase a Losi Baja Ray thru your affiliate link. Hopefully it all works, cause it doesn't exactly tell you (me) anywhere that it acknowledges it. But I went to amain straight from the link here.
