    Just finished installing a removable diesel heater in my OVRLND yesterday getting ready for some fall camping in late October. My build has taken a long time and I ended up re-doing a bunch of things, but I learned a lot and it was fun. Hope to share a video of my build in the months ahead.

    Nice, doing it yourself gets more and more beneficial as the cost of everything is going up.

    My wife's Ram 2500 Crewcab 4wd Cummins powered beast has a 2200# payload. We purchased a highly optioned 4wheel poptop camper for her truck. My Ram 1500 quadcab 4wd Ecodiesel long range cruiser, has a mere 1100# payload. Which is kinda crazy, since my Dodge Durango GT AWDhas an 1140# payload.
    The OVRLND brand shell seems a good possibility for my lightweight economy overland pickup truck.

    I was really considering a Vagabond, and then I came across OVRLND…I’m all about it. Putting in my order! Thanks for the video. And yes…Velcro is our friend indeed! 🤣 and did I hear you right, you’ve got a record player in there? Because I’m legit planning that! 😂

    What kind of gas mileage do you get with the Tacoma + OVRLND camper?

  • @tylerranes9391

    How much did you end up paying for the camper itself. Been thinking of one of these, GFC, or similar for my 96 Tacoma. I’m really really over my CVT and want to also utilize my truck as a truck when needed. I like the pop up verses the wedge like the GFC but only considering the go fast to support local Montana company since that’s my home state but I really like the aluminum build oVRLNd. Any leaks so far with it?

    Do you have any side pictures of your Tacoma from the sides? I have a 1st Gen and I am considering one of these. I would just have to get rid of my Prinsu roof rack and find another spot for my HAM radio antenna.

    I'm very impressed and have plans, not a definitive design, to build a very similar camper for my first generation Tundra. I'm especially interested in learning how you built the pop up portion. Could you please share details of that construction: the flexible panels and the roof?

      Thanks! The shell/camper itself is made by OVRLND. You can find their link in the description and see my review of the camper itself in another of my videos! Travel on!

    Does that battery/solar set up have enough power to run an ARB fridge or similar fridge? I love OVRLND and when I lived in Flagstaff I always thought about selling my van to go back to a truck.

    • @naumatt
      @naumatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never tried, so I unfortunately can't speak to that. I am almost positive I'd have to add the second panel. Right now the solar mostly goes to powering my wife's heating pad for nights, and happy camping wife = happy camping life. As I'm sure you know, changing temp is a major power draw, so we're dedicated to heating up rather than cooling down!

      My 1st gen died, but I ported it all over to my new 3rd gen, and it fits my Canyon Cooler perfectly. About 17.5"

      @@yankunflies thank you. does that seem like enough room for comfortability. I am looking at doing something similar but it will be more centered instead of offset. If you were to start over would you do it again?

    I have a canyon cooler, but ice changing can be annoying in the back country. Have you thought about adding a small refrigerator instead?

    • @naumatt
      @naumatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've thought about it, but it's not necessary for my style of camping. We pre-cool ours with a bloc kor bag of ice, then just use a bunch of reusable freezer packs. It'll stay cold for near a week if you open it efficiently.

      I have a 6 foot bed. I got to explore a 5 foot bed the last time I stopped by their shop, though. A little more cozy but still great!
