I'd rather see a budget commander article as usual. I loved your Bolas deck tech from last week, and how there was 3 lists of progressively higher budget. This way you can enjoy the taste of the deck even with smaller budgets
i really like nonbudget deck techs. if you do more like this i would stay away from budgets at all and just build the deck you want. this was still great!
I can only imagine how much work it is to present 3+ deck tecks in video and article, but this is an amazing approach. I love progressive budget takes like yours and that Lab Maniac Dan. If possible, keep it up!
This is very interesting. Giving this one a go with some personal tweaks on specific artifacts and staying away from Stax and land destruction. Seems like the win cons are plentiful without having to throw in the C level artifacts and such. Although, bolas citadel and aetherflux are intriguing. I’ll go with this base and tweak from there after playing.
Smoke is a great control card that is worth considering in this deck. I personally love the card because it does something that mono red usually doesn't do.
Hey Tomer thank you for this Nicol Bolas supervillains artifact deck. I really enjoyed these last two videos by you. I am cool with you continuing to do decks like this where you occasionally have a budget ish deck LOL. And I always enjoy when you guys are able to do different price points for budgets thank you.
This list was really helpful in trying to find some new stuff to beef up my esper-artifact superfriends list. Since a lot of PW have draw abilities I turbo out Allhemeret's Archive and then procide to draw as many cards possible, drop a ton of artifacts, and then finish them off with Tezzeret Master of the bridge.
Honestly, I think you should cover a budget God-Eternal Oketra deck. I'm working on one right now and it's SO fun to play. The non-budget deck techs are pretty cool as well. Keep it up Tomer!
Iv spend the last few weeks figuring out how i wanna build a dimir or grixis artifact deck and bolas superfriends has been one of the most interesting builds iv been looking at. Though I am very interested in running Bolas's Citadel, Top, and aetherflux as the main combo and leaving Mycosynth+karn/Forge+Disk as the 2nd wincon and then using new Tez for damage executions.
Love the non budget option. Definitely something that's missing from the budget magic series. Most of the time it's like "yea dimir guildgate is cheaper than watery grave" but there's other cards in the deck that aren't so obvious that should be included in a non-budget friendly version.
@@EldritchSquiggle that requires going to the article. I think they'd rather add watch time for more revenue anyway by going over the non budget version in the video itself.
I liked this deck tech, but I'd rather see more sub-$100 decks in the future. Being able to build ultra cheap decks for around $50 is my favorite part of your series!
I love the concept of this video, and I love the breakdown. Maybe add a 10 dollar per card option instead of the no restriction option? But yeah, great deck and great video concept. Good job!
Love the budget(ish) deck tech, but if I could ask, please put the prices below the cards when showing them. With the variance of prices being so high, it is pretty difficult to tell which cards are chaff and which are around $20
I know MLD isn't everyone's cup of tea, so I whipped up a quick example of the deck with all the MLD swapped out for other removal spells. The deck is still very strong: www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/1911060#paper
No mention of Contagion Engine? I'm slightly sad about this. Regardless, heck of a deck tech... enough to tempt me to dismantle my existing Grixis deck to build this.
Derevi is a more efficient SF's commander imo. I ran both, and Derevi was a much more well rounded and helpful card towards the SF's being the star of the show. The sweet bant support can play against any deck type as it's colors allow the best removal, draw, power, control, and proliferate typ effects efficiently, without bogging down the deck with as much mana fixing as Itraxa generally needs. Derevi controls voltron commanders thru her tap ability as well as being a flying chump blocker that never suffers from commander tax, beats counterspells thru her flash activated ability, and you still have access to some of the best SF companion cards, SF's themselves like all of the Gideon's, Jace's, Tamiyo's, Ajaini's, Karn, Ugin, Garruk's, Dovin's, and any other game winning bant SF's that have game winning emblems. She also allows for efficient use of board wipes while not suffering commander tax drawbacks, and her being a flyer at flash speed with a tap or untap ability really helps with the SF's control deck archetype. I'd suggest that my fellow MTG players give her a serious look as a consideration for a SF's commander. She's also a MUCH cheaper alternative to the expensive price tag of Itraxa. Sometimes less IS better, and still having access to 3 great colors of this type of archetype is fun efficient, and effective. Try it out! Besides, Itraxa is somewhat overdone and unoriginal by now in this archetype. If you're looking for a more creative alternative that's still powerful and fun, try out Derevi. You just might be surprised how effective she is at the helm. --Signed, Derevi's mom... Violetta.
My favorite deck is a Breya artifact superfriends deck. I powered down my straight artifact breya deck by taking out the tutors and most of the infinite combos and it's a ton more fun in my play group now.
My friend de-powered theirs by making it Treasure Tribal. New Karn can even get the Revel in Riches back if it's been exiled! I was like "Why run that if you don't have a sideboa--...ohhhh :(" They also use Warp World to turn Treasures into better stuff! Turns out depowered Breya is actually a joy to play against (or at least way cooler, though Warp World is annoying as fuck, but in a fun way compared to a fast infinite combo!)
Breya is the most powerful artifact superfriends commander for sure. I cover her a bit in the article. The only downside is that she's often archenemy because she's so good. And she's not Bolas ;)
I really like the non budget builds. We know magic can be expensive sometimes.. 'soft budget' and no budget versions are cool if you have time in the video. Otherwise ppl with the expensive cards know what to swap
Been playing a Grixis Villains deck for a while which is heavily themed around Bolas. Mine is just centered around Kess, Dissident Mage and instant / sorcery shenanigans as a way to keep the walkers alive to do their thing. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/16-06-17-pQf-grixis-control/?cb=1557932450
I don't get why you don't talked more about Tezzeret the Seeker. He's everything you want in this deck and he's on a budget. Instead of Jace Beleren, I would run like Read the Bones. Tho you can party with Jace, which Read the Bones cannot and you can actually help a player out if you want to. Kasmina and Ashiok the Mindweaver are also cards Im pretty sure does not do enough in these lists. Sure they can absorb one attack here and there. Im also kinda tilted Damnation, Toxic Deluge or my favourite Black Sun's Zenith (its on a budget) didn't get a spot in any of your lists you're showing. Blasphemous Act is another mention since you ramp so much that it won't be a big issue to get to the mana even with fewer creatures in play. There are better removals these colours has early on in the game. All in all I really like the concept, love the artifact and stax theme and pretty solid lists over all. Even if some card choices are a bit questionable. And no, I don't always go for the most competitive stuff.
I like the regular format better with cheaper decks. There are tons of expensive decks out there. I like the challenge of trying to do more with less. That written, an occasional one like this is OK with me for the folks who like it. I just turn it off when I see the price tag, which is fine. Can't please everyone.
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/animate-rainbow-friends/?cat=color&sort= I have a very similar deck that ive been enjoying very much. I'm probably gonna drop it to 4 colors instead of the full 5 and run partners but gonna end up non-green cause im trying to not be the "doubling season superfriends" guy and it definitely makes me less of a target when they know i dont have that. The deck is basically Animate Friends. Use Artifact synergies to turn my walkers into artifacts and then into creatures so i can swing with my planeswalkers. effectively making them all gideons. With War of the Spark i got Karn which acts as another artifact animator and Sarkhan which animates my whole board. I also got some new prolif support and elderspell both of which are nice. This setup while a bit convoluted has made for some fun situations and has the upside (downside?) of making it as one of my playgroup calls it "the most fair planeswalker combo deck you can have" as the setup is a bit tedious and eventually makes my walkers "Artifact Creature Planeswalkers" meaning they die to basically any removal spell or interaction After that the entire planeswalker package either protects my walkers, helps play my walkers, animates my walkers, or buffs them by giving them keywords/powers. Nothing says scary like a flying, lifelinking 15/1 Gideon set up by Elspeth, Tezzeret, Sorin and Ajani plus some buff emblems. Its super fun and i definitely got a few inclusions from this video.
I was with you till *spoiler alert* Obliterate. That card is too evil for me. Sad. I get it, destroying all land while you have PW on the board is totally what Nicol would do but man, the hate that I will get would be too much. But I like the idea of Artifact super friend.
@@tomerabramovici32 i agreed. i might try it out. I already build half of it already in Jeleva for Instant/Sorcery deck (it was an honest excuse to play nicol bolas). It's more of an extra turn deck instead of full on Superfriend.

Who's gunna tell him that the only reason tibalt is expensive is because hes a meme
So is Archangel's Light and Search the City. The reason Tibalt achieved a higher popularity is because ... he's a planeswalker!
Sure, but WHY is he a meme? Because he's the worst PLANESWALKER.
