ironically, one of my dream meme decks is "bludgeon brawl: beating you down with myself" where you turn planeswalkers into artifacts and equip them to the creature versions of themselves solely for the visuals. this seems... considerably more functional.

@@pmf98 It's kind of a one shot deal because opponents can unequip after your turn. Armory Automaton grabs all the equipment whenever it attacks. But honestly I just had a nasty plan that totally isn't convoluted at all. Mycosynth Lattice, Bludgeon Brawl, Vulshock Battlemaster, Equip your own lands and as much of your own stuff as possible to an eldrazi token or something and sacrifice it, then cast End Hostilities.
Never laughed so hard in a deck tech. In a good way. Well done with this one. I don’t play modern in paper but I would take it to a modern event just to announce all these cards as I play them. Plus the “wth” factor may lead to wins as well when the opp doesn’t know what’s happening. Also there has to be a way for this plan to work in commander. Or cheat high cmc artifacts into play for the big beaters. Dark steel forge plus free equips???? Hammer of nazahn white equipment commander
Yeah, I might have to try building a Commander Clash deck around it now. There are better ways to cheat expensive artifact into play and more support for equipment in general.

"I have attuned the staff to your screams so that only I may benefit from your pain." bahahaha
Eh, I’ve never been a fan of these super uncompetitive Against the Odds. For me, the most enjoyable ones are those in which the central card actually enables a janky, but viable strategy.
I appreciate you trying to make Modern fun with this deck, but honestly, I don't think much of anything could make Modern fun again. Pioneer looks so much more promising right now.

I almost vomited in disgust at watching Oko, then Karn and Ugin hit the field. Planeswalkers are by far my least favourite card type, and good planeswalkers protect themselves to disgusting levels.
Probably would've been stronger if you went the other way of equipping stuff for free: Playing 0 cost artifacts, and equipping them to creatures like Goblin Gaveleer, Champion of the Flame, and Valduk Keeper of the Flame.
It also makes it so if you're lucky enough to have artifact removal against Karn+Lattice, you can float mana to destroy Karn and equip your lands for 0 for even MORE power, toughness, and 3/1 trample tokens.
Hmm, that might be true. But then we would never have learned that a Renegade Map can paper cut the opponent for one damage, or that a Golden Eggs smashed on the opponent's face does two.

My favorite combo with bludgeon brawl is mycosynth lattice and armory automaton. You get to equip all of your opponent's lands to your creature. It doesn't do anything other than make them reach across the table to tap their lands.
Mycosynth Lattice turns Karn into an artifact. If you have issues with a Karn lock with an artifact removal in hand, you can also choose to remove Karn rather than the lattice, which obviously leaves you open to them drawing and playing a second Karn, but it also enables you to use your artifacts until then. Just a line you may or may not have missed in a game in this video. I'm glad to see modern back on the menu! I know a lot of people enjoy pioneer, and more power to them, but I'm still a sucker for modern, although Karn, Oko, Teferi and Urza are somewhat of a plague.
I have bludgeon brawl in an equipment commander deck. Treasure tokens and creatures that pump more depending on how many equipment are on it like kellon work well.
I feel like using Wear on Karn is a better play than on lattice. Because that not only breaks the lock of the Karn/Lattice combo, but it ALSO allows you to equip again.
(0:00) I hope Bloodchief Ascension gets a shot on Against The Odds. It is decently good, it just doesn't seem to fit in the decks that people build. Some sort of Black Aggro seems like something that could work, that does get the quest counter triggers. [I didn't vote Bludgeon Brawl, but it probably seems more worthy of its spot, in terms of "Against The Odds-ness".]
I'm honestly glad to see Modern back. Pioneer has potential, but until it and standard get some decent cards to check the format It feels like efficient answers will have to take a back seat to bloated battlecruisers.
I love Bludgeon Brawl! It's probably the best card in my Syr Gwyn deck, but admittedly that's a corner case of playing lots of mana rocks incidentally and needing to go wide with equipped creatures to draw cards.
Bludgeon brawl is one of my pet cards. The best thing I tried to do with it in commander is playing Mycosinth lattice, make everything (including lands and walkers) into equipments with brawl then cast battlemaster to equip EVERYTHING. it's a dream :D You gotta live to see a Jace attached to battlemaster.

Instead of casting Wear on the Lattice, you could've hit the Karn and waited for another answer to lattice, yeah, the downside is pretty big, but it's still getting rid of Karn and letting you equip for free.
Would Inspiring statuary be viable in this deck to give you mana for creatures/bludeon brawl/etc? it is definitely a somewhat dead card sometimes, but with all of the redraws... maybe something that would work?

He addressed this in the beginning. He'd forgotten he'd already done Quest for Against the Odds and the deck he made would be pretty much the same - he said he may revisit in after Ikoria comes out since there may be new cards that will make the deck different.
I feel like Pithing Needle/Sorcerous Spyglass and other utility artifacts would be better in place of this being redraw.dec with all of the eggs. Sure, you may not find the cards you need as simply, but you'd protect yourself a bit more, especially when it came to planeswalkers or graveyard shenanigans. Some of the eggs are fine, like Astrolabe, but it seems like a deck with solely those looking to beat face may not do well. I do like the deck though.

Bludgeon brawl, mycosynth lattice and the vulshok dude work together to steal all your opponents noncreature permanents
I spent like 10 hours trying to make that work. Didn't get it to happen once :(
I don’t think that would do what you think it does. Control of the permanents doesn’t change when they are equipped to vulshok battlemaster.

The champion throws the big eggs into Wurmcoil's mouth, until Wurmcoil cannot stand any more, I think that's how it works.
Bludgeon Brawl + Mycosynth Lattice allows you to use Nicol Bolas to attack, swinging a Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker as his weapon.

Valduk, keeper of the flame with a bunch of 0 mana artifacts with bludgeon brawl sounds hilarious. Throw in some extra combat steps for fun.

Vintage doesn't ban for power level (only ante cards, dexterity cards etc.), they only restrict you to one copy so you'll always be able to play 1.
