Fantastic idea!
You should seriously turn that thing into a camp on the water. Solar panel system, small fridge, AC system, bunk beds, a TV and gaming console, etc. If I were you, I also would have used construction adhesive to glue those 2x4's to the fiberglass, and then used screws on top of that as well. Those screws will very likely loosen over time because you didn't do this. You also could have built a frame out of Steeltek fittings, which would attach directly to the railing.

I second the a/c fridge combo. I'm 60 yrs old. And I've had 6 heart attacks and don't tolerate the heat like I used to.I live in FL on Lake Okeechobee. I love spending as much time as I can with my Godson. But he's 9 and gets bored easy. Having one of his game consoles for him would be awesome. Keep it up.

For future reference.....yes the cicadas are catfish heaven. Me and my dad went cat fishing 13 years ago with their emergence and caught hundreds of 3-4lbers. Immediately made plans for 13 years later and just did it again this past weekend and same thing. We even brought nets this time to scoop cicadas off the water to use as bait. So much fun.

@@docdildonica7515 no. Actual hundreds. Fished 4 tubes of crickets and ran out. Every cast hit the water and a cat would instantly gulp it down. Reel her in, throw her back, toss another cricket on and repeat. Was absolutely insane.

Awesome job! those decks are sweet! Rulers on the boards to measure the fishes and some kind of anti-slip paint would be a nice upgrade and help protect them.
Truck bed liner makes great anti slip, Harbor Freight brand. Cheap and last long. Great ideas by the way..

If you’re going to be camping on it, ventilation is going to be important for comfort and safety. Check out RV supplies and see where you could install a 12V vent fan to move air in/out the interior.

Here's an idea? Live well in the middle of the raised area below the deck? Pop on a PVC pipe that feeds into it and works like a chute from above deck? Press a button. Tank fills. Fish get caught. Down the chute to the well. Press the button well empties out. Gather the fishes, cull the fish? Whatever you like? Use a float control like on a sump pump to fill and kick off the pump. It'd be pretty easy..

I'm blown away by how many didn't know this year was gonna be a banger cicada year out east. I'm in Cali and I've known it was coming since it started getting talked about last year.
2 broods, a 13 year brood and a 17 year brood, are emerging at the same time. Super rare bug event, guaranteed the fish knew it was coming.
If you ever need parts for this thing, there’s a scrap yard near me with I believe 3 of these. Owen’s scrap metal in Latimer, MS (it’s close to Biloxi, under 10 miles away).
Yunno, if you planned the carpentry a bit more, it would have resulted in a longer lasting platform that did not need to be screwed into the external railing (and thus not weakening it and introducing moisture accumulation points. For example by flipping the foot of he platform that was screwed into the metal so that the cut out corner is facing the water, and leaning it at an angle with a joint in the longer beams (or a cross beam), it would then naturally bite into the railing as you stand on it, opposed to that force always wanting to break away from it.
EDIT- I take it back, he did think ahead. Stripping the screws so that no one can sneak in in the middle of the night and unscrew them is a big brain maneuver.
That said, it came out looking super nice. Still partway through the video but I hope he weatherproofs the wood. 🤞

You need to add a fridge to the lifeboat. Two deep cycle batteries charged by the engine and also small solar. I have two fridges on my bay boat, one cabinet mounted and one on deck. plenty of room for beverages, food, and especially fresh fillets. One would do you, I just don't like to leave the boat for days. I really enjoy the mix of boats, keep it up!
gas struts for the hatches and some sorta grip tape on those decks for traction

Add electric trolling motor so you can move into coves on the DL.
Maybe make some bases on your new decks for chairs and/or shade that you can remove and stow inside when not being used. 🙂
One of those rescue life boats would make a great canal boat in the UK. Just change the color with a new jell coat. Yep sand for four hours with a grinder with sand pads then gel coat it with a bucket and rollers. Then let it set up then do another section. Do the color change in two days.
You should attach a kids slide to the side for safe release of fish…. And would be pretty cool exit from top deck !

Fun episode. Really unique fishing experience. Gorgeous weather, the lake looks beautiful. Upper decks and ladder are excellent. Maybe an extended bow? Seems like you prefer clomping around in that area.

Your next project will be coming up with a long handled dip net. Back in the 80s and 90s we had to use a paint pole with a net attached because we couldn't find something commercially available. We made a lot of the things you commonly see in stores today. It was fantastic fishing when you had to make your own gear.

I still would buy some netting to keep the mosquitoes off me while I slept. I would also look into getting one of the tent hammock. They now have on the market. That would free up room on the inside of your life raft so you wouldn’t have to put so many mattresses down to sleep. I can’t wait for the next installment on this life raft.

I think your next upgrade should be mesh netting for the entrances so you can have a breeze without getting ate up. Especially since you are pretty much turning it into a house boat. Add magnets to it and they should auto close behind you.

Hey Ayo, if you really want a thrill in fishing, you should go specifically for catfish instead of bass. I will give you a piece of advice though, use steel leaders when you're going for catfish as they WILL cut your line.

for stability you should mount a gyroscope in the cabin, and mount outrigger on each side attached to v braces and hydraulic rams so all 4 corners push to the other pistons through a directional circuit. so every wave stabilizes the boat, and spins a turbine for power.

I’d put some lights on those new decks you installed. LED light under the decks and a spotlight to attract fish, then you could get something to hold your doors open when you open a lifeboat door. Then I’d install a shade canopy to those railings so you could be out of the sun and possibly cook out there on the deck.

Wrap around deck (around the captains hatch. Like a Donut. It is removable (heavy) resting on the rails and friction seating will keep it in place. That would make the Stern a perfect place to fish and hang out.

I would check with your local Coast Guard station and see if you have to repaint it. The orange might be a distress signal for them.
You should make a slide for the fish that you are throwing back. Be more gentle on them to slide into the water. A half round or full tube from the deck.
Something that might help…the roof hatches have bolts near the center, if it won’t damage anything I’d replace one of those bolts with a stainless or brass eye bolt so you can hook a bungee or small chain and fasten it to the rail along the top so the hatch is held open for quick access when you’re fishing.
They have latches that catch on the railings
you need to put some hood struts on the door to hold it up while getting in and out
