    It actually made me happy that you are not going to college and are continuing with your expanding business. You already have your business degrees with straight A's and will become even more educated than the majority of collegiate graduates. You also have a rich, wonderful life, which is the most important thing.

      Skipping college is very questionable indeed

    • @fewwiggle
      @fewwiggle ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@eviltomthai Hmmmmm, what is questionable these days is the value of a college education. A motivated person can acquire almost everything they would get in college by self-study (and without the indoctrination and BS). The only exceptions are the advanced sciences or engineering type stuff.

    • @jacobwilliams5271
      @jacobwilliams5271 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@fewwiggle " Indoctrination" is your kids learning to think for themselves and not keeping the bigoted ideals you raised them with. Unless your family has set you up for life, like these girls parents have, it is very difficult for most people to make decent money with just a HS diploma. College is about more than learning what is being taught in your classes, the real education comes from getting to know, interact, and exchange ideas with people from all walks of life. Surrounding yourself with people who only think just like you is how a lot of people ( on both sides of the aisle) end up so out of touch with reality.

    • @fewwiggle
      @fewwiggle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jacobwilliams5271 One form of bigotry is thinking that anyone not like you is bigoted . . . .
      "Unless your family has set you up for life, like these girls parents have"
      Wow, the condescension -- the assumptions about other people's lives . . .
      Regardless, college is a monoculture -- there is no (tolerated) diversity of thought there . . . .

    A few questions for the next time you do one of these....
    1) How much Coffee does Emerald drink in a day? Maybe you could come up Board Foot per Cup metric. 🙂
    2) Are there types of wood you could cut but don't and why?
    3) What % of lumber is from timber your family business cuts vs logs provided by others who are just paying for you to cut lumber for them?
    4) What's your favorite season to be outside milling? Personally, nothing like a crisp fall morning splitting firewood. Warms you 4 times, when you cut it, when you haul it, when you split it and then when you burn it.
    5) Do either of you ever go out logging and cutting timber or mainly back at the mill? Would love to see some content of timber harvesting.
    6) Have you ever got a completely deformed log where you scratched your head wondering how you're going to attack cutting it but also just couldn't bring yourself to discarding it?
    7) Is there a type of wood you'd love to mill someday but can't because it's not locally available?
    Great channel. Career has me in big city living now so it brings back a lot of fond memories of my younger years.

    When my daughters were young it became very clearly evident that even here in the 21st century girls and young women are still being oppressed and limited by societal notions of what they should and shouldn't do. Had your videos been available then just seeing young women, indeed beautiful young women, doing physical work at a mill would've been really helpful in letting them see straight through all that BS. I told them repeatedly that most limitations are self imposed; don't limit yourself and never let others limit you. It's great to see strong, healthy young women who have a strong sense of self determination.

      Yeah, it's partially kind of silly. There are parents who are very restrictive ( it all starts there) but I come from a large city in Europe where many classmates in one or my schools were rich, white with two working parents and they were not lining up for technical / IT professions. Science yes, but healthcare. A lot of it comes down to choice.

    A Feller Buncher that looks like that in our area is called a hot saw. It’s made for mostly clear cutting. There is another machine that looks similar with a different head that is called a Processor. It used for clear cutting and select cutting and it fells the tree, removes branches and cuts the logs to length. Mostly for short wood but also can cut random lengths. Neither machine is great with steep hills.

    Means a lot to this stranger that you didn't jump on the current bandwaggon as some of the other commenters did, of denegrating the first person who paid the compliment about your family being "good looking". You're right; it's not creepy. The commenter kept it clean, and it's nice to see people just take a nice compliment. It may seem on it's surface like an odd observation for me to make, but too many people today don't know how to take a compliment (albeit from awkward people sometimes) and are looking for ways to be a victim, even at the expense of other good people. I respect you more for it.

    Bonjour à vous, je connais très bien le métier, j'ai été ouvrier polyvalent de scierie pendant 11ans...en France le travail du bois est différent mais les bases sont les mêmes.
    Bravo à vous, vous gérez plutôt pas mal les filles, c'est pas facile comme métier mais vous faites du bon boulot 👌👍
    Salutations de France 😉

    I missed the QA post but there is something I have been curious about - when you are in school how much time do you spend working at the yard? ie is it just a few hours fitted around school or is it more full on than that?
