glad somebody said it. The same goes to buyers looking and wondering what the price should be, use the filters and chose "ALL" and then you take into consideration all the points mentioned here, but look at that animal's quality as well. Those one pic ads are more to hide flaws. Also, those who look to see what animals sold the fastest are using that model as a plus not taking into consideration that when they produce that same animal, or something close to it, that old pricing point will probably not hold. I plan on average to have animals sit on ad for a year. Those that didn't sell, came in handy later when I finally made something needed to prove it out two years later. It's the Big Picture formula for success the majority of breeders don't understand.
Building off of what Oz said if you’re looking for a baseline on where to price a snake but there are none available with that specific morph, you’ll have high chances of finding that combo or similar ones using the “sold” filter on morphmarket and it also shows how much it sold for and the last time it was updated which is super helpful.
I breed my own rats because I was tired of having an unreliable source of food for my snakes. I'm now not only making my own product, but supplying other breeders and it's paying for all my feed cost and I'm actually making a profit. I feel this will give me a huge advantage in the long run to stay sustainable even thru hard times
I tried to put my price a little lower than average since I am not a well known breeder, I am not rushing to sell any animals but the lower prices will get the more inquires which is helping me to be recognized by more people. This is my third season for ball pythons, and I think I should keep doing this before my name/brand is more establishedm and well known.
If you selling quality healthy well started animals let the price reflect that.dont sell yourself short just because you not well known.just keep producing quality and let the animals speak for themselves.
@@adammiller3178 sure yes! I do think all my animals were sold as highest quality can be, I prefer feeding f/t so all my animals are problem free eater and I got 100% positive rates on morphmarket so far.
Being a fairly unknown breeder who only produces a few clutches a year I usually go for middle of the pack pricing.I put the extra time in to make sure I produce quality healthy well started animals and I let my prices reflect that.
Ozzy Boids I have to say man that you have a very unique way of not only speaking to your followers and juat people in general but also with connecting with them as well so nice job plus the animals you produce are just hands down amazing well done sir well done indeed....
Thank you sir! You saved me 5 dollars for a calling card and yourself 5 minutes as now I dont have to call you and ask how much my OD Bumblebees are worth this year! Again! ;) Ozzy rocks!!!!! "Generals gathered in their masses"
Thanks for your insight, Oz. I like the part about making stuff that you're willing to hold onto. I agree that not 'needing' to sell puts you in a much more powerful position to maximize profits. Buyers can always sniff out desperation.
Exactly!!! Usually if Im in the market for a particular animal I tend to shy away from the lowballers who are most likely just in it for the money.as in anything in life you get what you pay for. Especially when it comes to animals.
Could you please do a video on what is better and pros an cons, when it comes to LLC, and all the other ways to start a business. I’ve seen a few videos on this topic but I’m not sure Which way to go. So if you could do a video explaining this I would appreciate it, and I’m sure other people would also. Thank you again for all you do. You’re the man!
Very insightful. I pull up Morphmarket all the time and base my pricing off of that. Having produced rare or new combos it can be difficult to gauge the market but I try to hold my animals at the highest standard and do what you do....hold them back if need be. The market seems to want highly visual babies, cheap animals or proven adults. Using that thought when pricing or keeping is helpful as well. My DH normals didnt sell so I kept them all. They're producing this season and I'll probably be able to sell that as proven adults for more anyways.
Solid information and just follow your passion, don’t rip anyone off trying to make extra money but don’t rip yourself off either, be a decent person that cares about your animals and customers and shoot for quality over quantity and to produce animals you’d want and can use yourself trying to avoid making combos you have no interest in just for money and you’ll do good and be on your way to doing some great things and quality animals and great customer service are two things alone that can set you up for success and put yourself above 50% or more of the breeders out there
Love your animals and advice, these videos have been great and motivating, keep em coming, I'm sure you know but a lot of people going check to check have a hard time getting passed that initial 4-5 year time and money investment with just a small light at the end of the tunnel, keep making that light brighter, we all benefit off each other and you big guys are proof the sky is the limit, I couldn't imagine these combos or single genes even when I got my first normal in 2002, really happy I got back into it a few years, only have a half dozen clutches under the belt but building for the future
Great advice but me I just started producing baby ball pythons.... I killed the odds on the clown clutch this year but also go some single gene poss het. clowns I know a guy at a shop... Now the lower end stuff what do you do ... Do I wholesale it???? Or do I hit a show??? I have a morph market...just don't know what to do
I think the key issue is shipping cost. If it costs $60 to ship, that's going to limit your audience to local. That being said, even with MorphMarket you may get local pickup interest especially if you are near a metro area. Doesn't hurt to try.
Do you think it would be a good idea to breed a particular morph (I don't have one in mind yet) just to sell it as an adult? Or is that too time consuming?
Thank you Oz, I know I'm guilty of reaching out to you lol. It's tough when the combos have never been priced, but hey that's the beauty and luxury of being able to demand what you deem fit. P.S. Orange Dream Fire G-Stripe Het Monarchs are on the way,
Your lessons on the business side are super valuable to new breeders like myself. Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise.

The quality of the animal shows as well. Your Orange Dreams are definitely worth more than most.

Yeah I wondered if I was priced too low. I looked at mm went 150 to 200 over the others like em and they were gone in 48hrs. I was like hmmmm
Very nice good speech
