Shreya (Catalyst Class of 2017) graduated with a Masters in Natural Resources and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences and during her Masters she attended a Summer School on Global Environment Issues at the Birmingham University. She pursued her Bachelors in Geography from Loreto College Kolkata.
Shreya has worked with integrated watershed development by longitudinal assessment over a span of 10 years, studying the spill-over effect of watershed development projects over a span of time and it’s impact on community resilience, pioneering the Promise of Commons (PoC) initiative through the LDSF (Land Degradation Surveillance Framework) as developed by the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) and International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) to restore 30 billion hectares of common land by 2025, a project funded by CGAIR ICRAF (World Agro-forestry); studying ecosystem restoration through International Forestry Resources and Institutions framework (IFRI) and monitoring its flow of benefits to the society through the socio-ecological systems (SES) framework; assisting the research on the dynamics of fuelwood use by women through ethnographic studies of selected tribal villages in Rural Rajasthan ( University of Iowa); working on the adoption of clean cooking energy using Community Based System Dynamics (CBSD) modelling a project funded by Boston College of Social Work and Washington University. Having worked in dry-land agriculture, Shreya is enthusiastic about engaging in agriculture and water use in contemporary India.
