I'm a year late but where did you find that out? I always knew about the new Krillin movie but there's another one after that introducing a new character called Umega Purple. It's a spin off of the name "OMEGA Shenron" and his purplish form. Because DBS loves colour palette swapping transformations and big power level go boom, Umega Purple is a character with a purple transformation who is invincible and can destroy universes by snapping his fingers. They sure know what DB fans want these days.

Probably cause they’re the only villains who can tied the franchise back to Earth. They’re simple villains, you don’t have to go Galaxy hopping or multiverse hopping with the RR Army. Plus I’d still say they’re less overexposed than Frieza or Beerus.

Production began in 2017, the final draft was produced after two years. Production began before the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
I wish this movie was a bit better, as it was pretty funny and it was cool to see Gohan and Piccolo getting some love. Cell being just a giant screaming kaiju just felt so empty and needless - it was like a crappy raid boss from a mobile game.
It was amazing.

Dragon ball writers need to stop using the "training offscreen" card already,at that point its just lazy and a way to give these characters transformations
True......but you gotta realize......this was A FILM. Not an ongoing anime where you can devote multiple episodes to training. Remember the way Goku busted his azz training while on the way to Namek? That was several episodes. This movie was only an hour and forty minutes. How much of that time can you devote to ON-SCREEN training to where the transformations makes sense.....AND STILL do "slice of life".....show what the other Z characters are doing.......introduce Dr Gero's grandson/other Red Ribbon characters/Gamma 1 and Gamma 2/Cell Max.....and still tell the story of the film and what it's all about? Mighty tough trying to cram all that in in under two hours.
It's the same reason Kale and the other universe 6 saiyans got Super Saiyan in two minutes through the "back tingle"......TIME. Too much other stuff to cram in....they ain't got time to have them struggle,and fight.....and strain.....try and fail,try and fail
,try and fail...until they finally break through. Yeah...it makes the transformations SUCK,but when you only got 100 minutes to work with,you can't spend half of it on training.

@@zanthonyhill8818 Those episodes were just filler, yes it was shown in the manga but it wasn't drawn out. That's why Kai cut down the filler that was put in the several arcs.

Orange piccolo isn’t even a bad looking form. The name they could’ve definitely worked on but design wise I think it looks good.
Yeah I thought it looked alright as well, tbh I liked it more than Gohan's new form or any of the new colour swaps of Super Saiyan.
It’s better looking than Beast Gohan and Cell Max but I don’t know, it just looks kind of dumb. It’s not as bad as I originally thought but I’m still not a big fan of it. The name I actually like because Piccolo names it himself which is funny

GT isn't that bad it's very underrated the dub is horrible and is a huge reason why it's so misunderstood and hated

Literally all Super is ‘member berries’, that’s it. That’s all there is.
Resurrection F definitely and Goku Black arc to a certain extent but the other three arcs didnt feel that way

When I saw the red ribbon army returned with years of underground preparation, I was hyped and thought they will finally be treated with respect, but they still can't do the most basic thing, which is to thoroughly investigate how strong goku is, before taking any action. Jesus, they have been preparing for so many years, and they built a gigantic military base, but they can't send a few drones to carefully look at how goku and his gang fight?
I thought it was funny how dr hedo was paid with Oreos so he can make androids for the red ribbon army

You're right, but it's a pity that this fandom is so toxic that it can't even accept normal opinions (not everyone) and I understand what was in your mind going on with GT because some people hate it or like it. I hete too some arc or these oops in dragon ball. For me, Dragon Ball has never been as the fans portrayed it as the god of the series and it's not like that at all, I would say it's ok or good. I don't like it when fans glanze over Dragon Ball and Goku, it's a bit too much for me. And so I decided to move away from this series, there are many better anime for me, with a better story and something new thes series are better then dragon ball for me Yu Yu Hakusho Party, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,Evangelion,Cowboy Bebop,Hunter X Hunter,Code Geass,One Piece(when i whatch this show i love it and become fan of it just one piece is another lvl) deadnote,naruto(is cool have some isuues but is deffedly better i didnt liked naruto to much but is better then dbs) idk about I haven't watched it AOT yet, but I heard it's peak and more better series.

I would argue that Cell Max is comparable to Super Broly. Can't hold a conversation, favorite word is AAAHHHHHHH, can't tie their shoes. Then Piccolo wishing for a new form, I don't care that Shenron gave it to him as a gift, it was part of the wish. Then Gohan big hair form happened because sure, it's on par with Merchandise Freiza, who somehow closed the gap of nearly 2 decades of him being dead in just 4 months. Then Goku Whack with his Pink form and Blue and Super Kaioken, which looks the best before Goku's hair turns white, then it looks like ass.
Also did you know the English voice actor for Magenta is Charles Martinet the voice of Mario

I love the fact that there are people that understand writing. I agree Z is not perfect either OG till Namek saga is most consistent then it falls off still fun to watch but you get the point. Super get's to a point that it has so many issues at the same time that it's hard to watch. Sort of like One Piece very repetitive and inconsistent.
Nah it’s totally fun watching Luffy never take anything seriously and winning every fight without and real tension knowing Luffy will never lose to anyone ever for any reason! 😂
this movie is a disappointment.
This movie is mildew without a doubt, but the CG complaint is really blown out of proportion. You used Jump-Force as an example of Dragon Ball CG being bad as though there aren't tens of other video games that show that this could have worked.
Look at the cutscene for the Tenkaichi 1 game, or the Raging Blast 1 and 2 games. Look at the graphics for the Kakkorot game.
Animators have proven that Dragon Ball can absolutely be translated into 3D, and in many cases, look even better than the 2D fights we've been given.
The issue with this movie is that (like most anime) the CGI is cheap and rushed. There's no way they could have made this movie look as good as Kakkorot in the amount of time they were given, so we get the typical bland, choppy, stop-motion CGI that anime is so well-known for.
Although that final battle was dope-looking.
Film still sucks tho.
I think Dragon Ball can work to an extent and look appealing in CG but it’s character designs just look better in 2D. Also the character motion and movements don’t look great which is another problem
And yeah for a video game Kakkarot looks great

Wdym my sister is 10 and this was her first experience with dragon ball she thought the fights were cool and that picollo was a badass. As well as this she thought orange picollo was funny and cool. How does it look stupid. How do you expect the writers to make cell max have a personality like cell's and establish it in the 30 minute or so climax? Plus you would have crapped on cell max anyway saying his personality was reused. This is made for kids. Just shut up and enjoy the action. The movie hit it's intended audience and the plot was so much better than the other Dragon Ball movies which are just 30 minutes of backstory then one hour of fighting for no reason. Battle of gods only happens becuase buu wouldn't share his pudding. Plus this is only really the third time RR was used and red ribbon is cool anyway. Not liking the CG is like watching a live-action movie when you don't like live-action and expecting to enjoy it. 2D would have been better but stop being salty just because you didn't get 2D

For orange piccolo I think it's his face as well as him just being super buff. I don't think the design is THAT bad, its gotten better over time but I'm just not a fan of how it looks but I can get how others like it
I'd honestly rather them do Resurrection F again but with Cell instead of Cell Max. Resurrection F doesn't really do anything new with the series but I was able to enjoy it since Frieza is in it. Yes, they're just bringing back the same villain again but Frieza is great plus it was only the second film made after Z ended. If Cell Max was instead Cell I'd still complain that the film is just rehashing the same character but at least Cell would still be Cell. Yeah its not doing anything new with the character but at least it'll be the character people love and wanted to see more of. Even though Cell Max is different that doesn't make it a good idea.
Yeah I like that this film is more plot and character driven rather than just fights and action but I'm not a big fan of the concept of the story in general. I'm not complaining that there wasn't enough action, that's one thing I actually really like about Battle of Gods since its so much different from the other films.
I like CG films, I'm not opposed to CG in films or CG films in general. I love a lot of Pixar films as well as others. I'm not going to lie, I am clearly biased towards 2D media more than CG but I don't like the CG in the film, not because its just CG but because I don't think it looks all that good overall. Again, its not terrible or even "bad looking" but its underwhelming and looks a lot worse than the second half of Super as well as Broly

Seeing this movie makes me wonder if the script was written by Toriyama but he hated it so much he threw it into a dumpster. Then the Head OF Toei went out to to go find it and offered Akira big bucks cuz hes so old and useless now like an Asian Joe Biden always forgetting his works.

It was super disappointing for cell max supposedly being way better than the original it was lackluster there were no casualties besides gamma and for Gohan to go beast form all he had to do was see piccolo get hurt not even dead and unleash one single attack there should of been some casualties like goku and vegeta dying to cell max that would of been a reasonable way for him to finally unlock his hidden power not just waiting long enough like piccolo does for a special beam cannon hell when frieza came back she killed a bunch of them while they waited for goku and cell max couldn't I don't believe that that that's bad story writing

People who complain about the writing behind Gohan don't understand his character and how his power works. He continuously got rage boosts against Frieza even after having his potential unlocked. Ss2 was his peak during the cell games, he stopped training but grew into adulthood which would naturally grow his potential which was brought out by the old kai. In super he trained since ROF and it actually makes sense for him to surpass himself from the buu saga, since he already had the power but couldn't access it due to being rusty. Think about his year of training with Goku in the HTC, he went from being weaker than him in base to surpassing him as a child who was only grade school age in the manga. From his introduction Gohan has been shown to have almost limitless potential, his beast form at full power has more overall power output than UI Goku but I don't think it's a massive gap considering how their fight went. The point is that it seems like Gohan truly has no potential ceiling, just a current power ceiling.

Super has some good ideas and some great new characters, kind of hard carried by how fun the Tournament of Power is though. Only thing I can really say about GT that I liked were some of the character designs

Lol, Gohan wasnt the "new main character" after the Cell series, you have it all wrong, that narrative has been passed down for far too long, and over repeated, most of you people clearly werent watching DBZ, Gohan was already the main character of Z from the first episode, or if you want to get technical, there was no true main character in the first few episodes as a main character in some shows isnt immediately expressed by the writer, but with the results of the Raditz fight, it was obvious that Gohan was the character he was using as the main character of the series, anyone with half good vision could see that, what DID happen after the Cell series ended was that Gohan had been established as a person on earth that could truly replace Goku as the "go to, the guy hero" Gohan was the main character already before then, the end of the Cell series simply installed him as the hero in addition to already being the main character, the hero which the series was steering towards since the very first episode.
