    That looks decent for the money mate, I've got the more expensive ones and to be fair it looks like they use the same parts. Troubles iv run into is unleaded kills them, you probably won't get through a full tank before the condenser chokes up , I've not tried the cleaner optimax but I'm guessing not much different after time . The condensers aren't cheap at £20 so I'd stick to the cleaner fuels and if you really don't have the choice in an emergency I'd use the unleaded to get a wood fire going haha . Cheers bex

      So right about cleaner fuel, Aspen 4 has beed a god send, and colemans too expensive, and napthaline too sooty. Unleaded used with carb cleaner, such as Red X improves performance, used as an emergency bikers stove, etc. For the price of the condencer, you can get a new BRS, a disposable stove almost. The generator and jet on the BRS can be cleaned in the field, wire inside genny, and a jet cleaner tool, is supplied. My coleman 533 has its own issues too, BRS strip down much easier....Bex

    So the zombie stove only uses the pump. To prime and then the fllame heats and pumps the fuel by letting in air hrough the fuel cap ?

    Hi, that stove will also burn gas from a canister using a universal gas connector hose (Booster BRS-8) available separately off eBay.com. This hose screws into the brass generator thread after unscrewing the brass plug.

      My BRS 8 is a death trap, filmed a warning video on it that can be seen in a few weeks time. Mine was squirting liquid fuel from the hose all over the fuel bottle and stove. Couldn't kick it out the way hard enough for laughing......all the best....bex

      My svea 123R started to fail, I believe the 123, goes for years. The BRS is so sraight foward, I use Aspen 4 fuel £6 per litre, coleman fuel bit pricey on the net....All the best bud...Bex

    LOL, ... the sound of that stove might get the zombies to look up from their smart phones,
    but it seems a decent stove. Cool webbing .... i used some of that waterproof paint/dye on a canvas pack, it turned out pretty well.

      I'm sat next to a smartphone zombie right now, Lol
      Added the silent cap off the svea to the bell housing of the BRS 12 now. The spray saved me throwing away that webbing, and as you can see, has given it a new lease of life. ATB ...Bex

    Got the Coleman’s featherlite dual fuel almost the same as yours great bit of kit had mine for years

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The burner head is much better on the feather and is quieter but more complecated than the the BRS. Had my coleman 533 for years too, parts are pricey, and strip down needs some care. Your lucky having the 422, look after it and pass it down to the grandkids in time....All the best mate...Bex

    At 6.45 you say that it is a multi-fuel stove and that it will burn anything. Any chance of you making a video showing it burning other fuels - particularly wood, charcoal or cat litter. Just kidding! But I wouldn't mind seeing it running on kerosene or diesel.

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will run it on diesel for you in a few weeks time, it will shoot up and smoke a bit, but will burn. Remember a stove strip down and carb blast thru will be required afterwards. I will also run it on cat litter pellets including cat poop. (only messing)...Bex

    • @georgebgoode
      @georgebgoode 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you ever so much. Personally, I wouldn't bother running anything on diesel - not even a car. It is very dirty stuff. But, if you insist, it will be an interesting watch. The stove not the car!

      Actually, in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse, maybe somebody could design a stove that would run on burning Zombies! Smell would be awful though.

    nice review, thank you. a question : Can i use gasoline (petrol) motorbike for stove ?

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure can...Add red ex to the fuel. Used need will work in an emergency, but after a couple of burns will start to clog the jet, and will splutter. I use Aspen 4 lawn mover petrol, instead of coleman fuel. It is said to run on diesel too, same as before add 5 to 10 percent Redex diesel.....
      If using petrol from your bike tank, spray down the burner will brake cleaner to blow soot out.
      (HIGHLY FLAMMABLE< USE WITH CAUTION)
      Using Aspen fuel is 95 percent cleaner than unleaded, so requires no additives.....Bex

    Hi Bex, Huge numbers of the BRS-8 stoves have been sold all over the world. Fortunately the replacement hoses sold on eBay are cheap and I would advise sending away for a spare. The problem may lie with the O rings which seal the thumb screw which screws into the adaptor hose which may be worth investigating.
    I have a 30 year old MSR XG-K stove, this has a solid metal fuel tube but only one O ring in the pump housing seals the fuel tube/pump housing joint. If that leaks, it will spray out fuel.
    If it is the thumb screw seals. You have to measure them accurately, I:e internal diameter and cross section. The external diameter is 2 x CS and order Viton items. There are plenty of good quality suppliers on eBay.co.uk. Best wishes=John.
    Another angle is trying to source a replacement pump.

    Is it wind resistant?

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its BTU out put is powerful enough to not require a wind shield. In severe winds it would be good practice to protect the flame from blowing out.....Bex

    Combination of a Coleman and An msr , and the flame spreader is Optimus... You cannot clean the generator of the Coleman, here you can. Makes the noise of An Optimus 8r. Nice cheap combination! Greetings from the Netherlands!

    I have the updated version the BRS 12A, I just tried it out today cooking hamburger patties & onion on a cast iron square skillet with unleaded fuel, worked great with a 24cm high Aluminium Fold up Wind Guard. Once you put in nearly 450ml of fuel & pump it up 30 - 40 times it warms up to become a gas very quickly in a few minutes. I was surprised at the range of control of the flame, I was able to turn it right down where it was spluttering with a tiny bit of yellow flame but mostly blue so that I could slowly cook frozen burger patties without burning them. Once they were thawed out & lightly browned I turned up the fuel to cook them where they were a darker brown.
    As I'm a noob to using one of these it was incredibly simple & worked flawlessly. If you don't mind that it weighs about 550g plus 450g of fuel so 1kg then it's well worth it because it will work in arctic temps or blistering hot climates. If you're cooking with it during the day with an Aluminium Fold up Wind Guard then make sure you cook in the shade because the heat from the cooker will reflect off the Aluminium & into the fuel tank making it get warm. My Wind Guard must of been a tad too close which made my tank heat up a bit before I moved it out of the way. Oh well shit happens. Other than that it's a great little stove, well worth the money. At full burn it converts to 2116.66 Watts of energy which is more than enough to do any type of meals you want to do.

      You may want to mix a little Red-x carb cleaner in the fuel, about 5% max. Running it on unleaded my soot up the needle and jets after time, and it will start running like a bag of poo. I use Aspen 4 lawn mower petrol, run 95% cleaner than raw unleaded, and has no additives that unleaded has.
      th-cam.com/video/KrqoVqWJfgc/w-d-xo.html
      Never noticed the tank getting hot when using a tall wind shield, will need to keep my eye on that. The BRS 12 I have is great for motor-cycle camping, but the fact the fuel lasts so long on just one primed tank, the 1 kilo is a good trade off IMO. My BRS booster plus 1, leaked fuel and blew up, proper scary stuff. My BRS 3000T is still a favourite despite it having countless coffee boil overs emptied into its jets.....have a great weekend...bex

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not heard of anyone doing so, but I would guess if its high octane it should. The liquid is converted to a vapor, before being ejected throgh the jet. If not the strip down is pritty simple, not too many moving parts, and a blast through with carb cleaner will sort it out. Tried with meths, it works but flame is inconsistant, try aspen 4 fuel, from tool hire shops....Bex

    Bex, I modified my stove to run on alcohol by drilling out some spare jets i bought to 0.45mm. Bio-ethanol can be purchased for cheap from an auction site - 96% ethanol. Its cheaper than meths and of higher purity, so would be better for all manner of alc stoves. The BRS 12 is not as fast to boil on Alc, but its not far behind. but it is very clean burning (no chance of clogging the condenser ever), fast and easy to prime. I store my different jets in the bag with the stove to allow me to efficiently use any fuel. Its nice to have a truly multi fuel stove. If you fancy a jet to try for yourself, let me know and I'll pop one in the post for ya.

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor

      I run mine on Aspen 4 fuel. Its 95% cleaner than unleaded, running about £7 per litre, avg. Meths would work out the cheapest at £6 per litre (I have not tried running this stove on meths) Yet> Bio is running the most expensive if not buying in bulk, albeit I haven't looked very hard for bio yet. This BRS 12 is really fuel efficient so far, only topping up once a year, for deep winter use only for me. The jet modification would be a great modification I think. I have your email address from this post, so if I need once will let you know this winter.....Thanx for watching bex
