i suspect that the idea that our staff is evaluating players in ways that don't correlate to rankings went over most people's heads. ranking services rate using technique (which is coached for the most part) while we're including and evaluation for potential to excel observing things that have proven to be indicators at the pro level; minter & macdonald probably brought these evaluation criteria from the ravens. having played volleyball in college, i know that ankle flexibility has an impact on the ability to apply force throughout the length of one's foot while it's still in contact with the ground. one way that pans out is in vertical jump. but i suspect it also matters when driving forward it also allows players to apply more force horizontally when tackling, blocking, etc. in terms of leg drive.
