The defense in both playoff games Monday looked like JV squads . In extreme cold it’s very difficult to wrap up a player, still the effort was non existent. Makes you wonder if pre season should make a comeback so they can work on fundamentals. 🥶🍻🏈
Every coach not named Stoutland has gotta go. Failure to make adjustments on both sides of the ball during this entire skid and the other teams always knew what we were gonna do. Niners rightfully called them out for being predictable and still no adjustments. Sirianni saying no changes were coming to the playcalling in the playoffs? This game was over before it started.
I’m not disagreeing that the defense had the worse tackling ever. But the Defense kept them in the game the whole first half. The offense had ZERO momentum
I didn't knew Jalen Hurts had shooters like this. Dropped a downright stinker and he got away with it because everyone blaming the coach. How is a so called top 3 QB unable to handle blitz? These are what you expect from an elite QB. Jalen Hurts has so far exhibited none of these. If O-line is elite, WRs is elite and the play calling is elite then Jalen Hurts plays good. @@edwinbenny2483 okay I’m agreeing with you. The thing is you don’t ever see him really check into another play unless it’s an “alert alert” thing that he does. Which is odd cause they just paid him over $250 mill, he deserves some control over the offense. What i would like to see him is with a competent OC and staff just like you saw in 2022 and then we can really evaluate what hurts can and will be.
Let's just be real, the defense looked like they just didn't want to be there. They let up 30 (not counting the safety) to Baker Mayfield and the 20th-ranked offense and if it wasn't for Tampa Bay getting the dropsies it would've been worse. Such a lack of effort and execution from a defensive standpoint, particularly in the secondary. I know it's easy to scapegoat Matt Patricia, just like it was easy to scapegoat Sean Dasai before that, and Jonathan Gannon before that. Now Sirianni is the fall guy. The conversation Eagles fans don't want to have is that they have a terrible defensive roster, and if you ask me, that's been evident since they crumbled in Seattle.
They were awful defensively with no spirit. They were awful offensively never punishing the pressure they put on jalen. They definitely looked like they didn't want to be there.
they blamed gannon for the SB loss and then were praising him after he beat them with kyler murray. you can coach blame all you want but missing tackles and leaving dudes open wasn't on them. even the offense looked like it didn't want to be there. the scheme was awful but everyone deserves blame for last night
I mean... your defense did hold them to only 16pts for a good amount of the game. Your offense was given opportunities to get ahead. I get it, your defense sucks, but your offense did not do enough to win the game. Your offense gave up two pts for a safety.
Don't blame the defense. The blame lies squarely on Jalen Hurts' shoulders. Running QBs do not work. If the Eagles had a nice pocket passer like Trevor Lawrence or Joe Burrow, they would have easily won this game.
Stephen A. got it spot on about the missed tackles in the beginning - they need to fire their coordinators on both ends (but defense, especially, needs attention overall)
Those coordinators were doing fine when they were 10-1, those players can’t tackle, at a point when you play football professionally you shouldn’t need a coach to tell you how you tackle, you made it to the league for a reason.
On blitzes, Brian Johnson has guys running straight vertical routes, by the time the WR turns around Jalen is on the ground… that's a pure idiot coordinator. 3rd & 2, he had guys running 15 yard routes… that's a pure idiot coordinator THIS IS 100% ON COACHING
Thank you for this analysis and for adding Howie's name to this mix....because something happened this year at high levels that trickled down to the team
I'm a huge Sean fan & want him to win but I wouldn't mind seeing Drivus win either. He's a breathe of fresh air. Sean got his title & has been at the top so if it's DDP's turn, then I would embrace it
Nick did not make that change to Patricia. That came from the top down. The hiring of Patricia was Jeffery Laurie and the decision to put him in charge was forced by Jeffery Laurie. He has loved the Pats since a kid and he put that man in that position.
Shannon, you said we should hold Eagles players accountable? Who not allowing the players to not play to the best of their abilities? Reddick is not telling himself to drop in coverage. The O line is not telling Swift to only run the ball for 9 carries a game. It is not Hurts idea to hold on to the ball until he makes a big play. Come on Shannon. Really?
Thank you Stephen A. Who is responsible for holding the players responsible? The coaches. The coaching all season long has been atrocious. When your players can't execute a single play or even make a tackle, that's also a coaching flaw as much as it is poor play.
No , these aren’t high school kids. These are grown men getting paid millions of dollars to play the game of football. The players are responsible to themselves as much as the coaches.
@@DDewberry That's what I said. As much as it's on the players, the coaches are equally responsible. They need to hold their players accountable when they're not executing.
If that is the case then no player has ever been good, they’re just doing what the coach told them. See the flaw in that logic? If I show you how to drive but you crash, that is YOU that crashed. That has nothing to do with me. The players get the credit when they play well, but then people wanna blame the coach when the players play poorly.
@@HaruhiSuzumiya93That's one driver. If an entire class of drivers all crash their car, that makes the instructor look just as bad. The Eagles as a whole looked awful. If players need to be benched or cut, whatever makes your team better. Sirianni has made poor decisions that have made the team worse.

The lions rams game is a good example. Both defenses were playing well but both quarterbacks made plays when they needed to give their team the best chance to win.
This has to be the biggest collapse ever. They started out 10-1, best record in the league at the time, but then they would lose 6 of their last 7 games. No major injuries or coaching changes yet on both offense and defense they just drastically regressed?! Makes no sense is an understatement☹

lol Shannon acting like he’s the only who saw this coming. We all saw this when the team was winning but were down double digits at the half each time.
Hey, Jerry Rice was the epitome of the "run after the catch" for WRs. It's not that they (Eagles) just missed tackles...the WRs made it harder to tackle them with all the "shake-n-bake." That's what truly makes a star WR.... The run after the catch because the play isn't over when the catch is made, it's over when the WR is in the endzone because most plays are designed to score TDs.
I didn't see one player on the Bucs that comes close what Jerry Rice did during his playing days, but it's possible that they looked like Jerry at 61 years old. Those missed tackles are all on the defenders. They simply quit and coaches need to be fired.

Lost Wild Card to Bucs

Nope . WE BEAT YOU DOWN THEN WE EXPOSED YOU FOR THE REST OF THE NFL . -NINERS
That incident really showed the culture they have there. Having Fat Patricia on the sidelines doesn't help either. Player talent masked organizational issues all season.

You mean since the 9ers came to town and Deebo told yall Bradberry is trash lol we took their souls.
Shannon is excellent, and it working great by the way he is being incorporated.
Deebo did call Bradbury as 🗑️. Niners came in & broke the 🦅 spirit.
Shannon on this topic solidified his status as a 5 star football analyst. He just knows layers and layers above many people.
Shannon hush! Eagles fans have been complaining about how they are playing since Week 2! It was definitely not just last night when we started saying stuff 😑
Exactly!
The Eagles were on top of the world, leading 6-0 at the end of 1Q against the 49ers and then total collapse. I can't remember a team doing a complete 180 mid game and mid season. Perfect bell shaped curve.
Love this lineup for First Take
What was striking was the comparison of the two QB's - Jayleen sat by himself and didn't spend any energy talking to anyone other than to himself. Baker Mayfield was engaged while on the sidelines talking up his teammates. Baker is a leader and Jayleen is a bench warmer.
Exactly.
Shannon feeling comfortable now and laying the wood on this show. Mvp of the show already. You know when he starts using relationship and real life analogies, he's settled in nice...
Oh yea Shannon Sharpe and Seth Joyner are my Football Uncles I go to them after the games
0 for 9 on 3rd down is a fire-able case for 90% of the offense personnel...
The defense in both playoff games Monday looked like JV squads . In extreme cold it’s very difficult to wrap up a player, still the effort was non existent. Makes you wonder if pre season should make a comeback so they can work on fundamentals. 🥶🍻🏈
This was the BEST - logical/coherent/measured - analysis I've seen Shannon make on First take or Undisputed. He's good at his craft.
This game was over before it started.
special teams went crazy this year keep that dude
And how about us giveing Todd Bowles some love on an amazing job that he has done with coaching the Buccs to the playoffs and winning?!?!
I’m not disagreeing that the defense had the worse tackling ever. But the Defense kept them in the game the whole first half. The offense had ZERO momentum
16-9 in parts of the 3rd. Defense actually did okay for like 3 straight drives. Offense choked big time
I didn't knew Jalen Hurts had shooters like this. Dropped a downright stinker and he got away with it because everyone blaming the coach. How is a so called top 3 QB unable to handle blitz? Sure you can say make an excuse and blame the OC didn't draw up good routes but if you are a top 5 QB you should be capable of making changes in huddle like asking your WR to run a slant or a 6 drag? He got exposed hard.
@@edwinbenny2483 oh no Jalen stunk that’s coming from an eagles fan he gets a lot of the blame but tell me rn is any other QB succeeding with this offense and the way it’s been called the last 7 weeks? No Rhythm or flow to the offense at all. Just abandons the run entirely. I HIGHLY doubt any one can succeed
@@marquisstarks9003 Put Mahomes, Burrow or Allen in Jalen Hurts position and they’ll eat. Mahomes wouldn’t want to because he is already in a good position. I’ve seen Josh Allen make plays when there isn’t any. I’ve seen Joe Burrow recognising leverages of safety in game and ask his receivers to run different routes in the huddle. These are what you expect from an elite QB. Jalen Hurts has so far exhibited none of these. If O-line is elite, WRs is elite and the play calling is elite then Jalen Hurts plays good. When one of these aspect breaks down and he looks like Jameson Winston.
@@edwinbenny2483 okay I’m agreeing with you. The thing is you don’t ever see him really check into another play unless it’s an “alert alert” thing that he does. I’m pretty convinced the team doesn’t let him change plays or audible to a quick slant or man beater kind of play. Which is odd cause they just paid him over $250 mill, he deserves some control over the offense. What i would like to see him is with a competent OC and staff just like you saw in 2022 and then we can really evaluate what hurts can and will be.
Shannon Sharpe is Very Passionate about Football! I Love hearing him Talk

That check engine light reference is spot on. Everyone sees it but ignore it until it’s too late and the car wont start right.
Worst defense in the NFL.
I mean... your defense did hold them to only 16pts for a good amount of the game.
Pittsburgh missed quite a few tackles too. Don't go fishing in Pennsylvania, they don't have any tackle up there.
Stephen A. got it spot on about the missed tackles in the beginning - they need to fire their coordinators on both ends (but defense, especially, needs attention overall)
Those coordinators were doing fine when they were 10-1, those players can’t tackle, at a point when you play football professionally you shouldn’t need a coach to tell you how you tackle, you made it to the league for a reason.
AJ Brown quit on the team. If anybody else would have did that they would have been called out. Biggest game of the season and he don’t play.
Ever since Sirianni talked trash to the Chiefs fans after they won, they've been cursed. Win with dignity, Pride comes before a fall
My grandmother on her walker could run through that defense, and the missed tackles.
On blitzes, Brian Johnson has guys running straight vertical routes, by the time the WR turns around Jalen is on the ground… that's a pure idiot coordinator.
3rd & 2, he had guys running 15 yard routes… that's a pure idiot coordinator
THIS IS 100% ON COACHING
Thank you for this analysis and for adding Howie's name to this mix....because something happened this year at high levels that trickled down to the team
This playoffs has already started off crazy!
Slay left the lions because of Patricia. Eagles stubbornly brought Pat in
That should say everything
Shannon, you said we should hold Eagles players accountable? Who not allowing the players to not play to the best of their abilities? Reddick is not telling himself to drop in coverage. The O line is not telling Swift to only run the ball for 9 carries a game. It is not Hurts idea to hold on to the ball until he makes a big play. Come on Shannon. Really?
They gave up on the Coaches plain and simple
That's not just the players fault. Coaches need to hold their team accountable and make necessary adjustments to help their team succeed. If players need to be benched or cut, whatever makes your team better. Sirianni has made poor decisions that have made the team worse.
THIS is what First Take is supposed to be! No race-baiting or politics, etc. and Molly was quiet and didn't interrupt! Great segment!
Anyone else than me that remembers SAS constantly talking about Jalen besides QB qualities also being natural born leader and why Eagles where soooo good … now that it’s turned bad.. everyone else to blame 😂
They were 10-1 before an epic collapse. They were absolutely good until….. they weren’t 😂
@@MrDeShawnThomasthey were…ok. Most of the wins were against tomato cans and bad teams until the Niners came to town and put the beats on the Eagles. Once the Niners beat them they way the way they did and showed the blueprint, this team never had a chance since.
@Jadmonius they did beat Miami Dallas KC and Buffalo
“I can tackle better than the Philadelphia Eagles” that had me😅😅 and I am an Eagles fan.
When do we hold Jalen Hurts accountable? Should I expect the fifth highest paid QB in the league in his fourth year to overcome circumstances? Does he need everything to be perfect to win???
Very interesting how we give some QB’s a pass who have great talent around them, but not others who have never had the talent the Eagles have had on their roster…..
Bro these shows are so biased it’s crazy! If this was Dak they would be calling for his job? lol 250 million and he playing like that!!
The lions rams game is a good example. Both defenses were playing well but both quarterbacks made plays when they needed to give their team the best chance to win.
If this were Purdy, they would of crucified him.
THIS!!!!!! I need more people to think like this 😭
Dallas and philly need new coaches and quarterbacks
This Eagles lost reminds me of Rocky 3 when he lost the first time. He just stood there and took Lang punch cause he didn't want to be there.
This has to be the biggest collapse ever. They started out 10-1, best record in the league at the time, but then they would lose 6 of their last 7 games. No major injuries or coaching changes yet on both offense and defense they just drastically regressed?! Makes no sense is an understatement☹
1986 Jets started 10-1, finished 1-6. Lone win was against the Chiefs in the Wild Card.
The Jets were outscored 221-116.
Its called the "Super Bowl Loser Curse"
I'm A Eagles Fan the Head Coach and the DC and the OC needs to be Fired
@@vulcanraven9701but what is that in reality? Did they make it to 10-1 and get imposter syndrome? Did the bickering between AJ Brown and Jalen prevent them from drawing up a good game plan because they wanted to force him the ball? It’s just so confusing
Shannon and actual players is what we need on these insights. Good vid
The Eagles looked like they had no eneregy, no want to. And once Jalen got sacked for a safety I think everyone just mentally checked out.

To be fair the BEars seem to me where QB destroys their career.
Todd Bowles has been great for the bucs. Few ups and downs in the beginning (especially in the playoffs) but this last season with less weapons and coaching baker up. He’s done solid
It's always about what went wrong for these regular season darlings, but it's never they simply got their behinds whooped by their opponents fair and square.

lol Shannon acting like he’s the only who saw this coming.
The run after the catch because the play isn't over when the catch is made, it's over when the WR is in the endzone because most plays are designed to score TDs.
nah man, those were missed tackles 100%
I didn't see one player on the Bucs that comes close what Jerry Rice did during his playing days, but it's possible that they looked like Jerry at 61 years old. Those missed tackles are all on the defenders. They simply quit and coaches need to be fired.
As a Giants fan it was beautiful start to this playoffs to see the cowboys and eagles both get destroyed on consecutive days that was fantastic
