Android sound problems can be a real pain, but with some fault finding and maybe the help of an APP you might be able to fix the problem without an expensive repair or worse, a new phone!
Most Android audio problems are caused by either, the headphone jack or APPs not releasing the mic or speaker to the APP you are trying to use.
Sometimes just cleaning the headset port can fix the problem, but sometimes it is necessary to dig a little deeper to get things working again.
Follow some of the tips in the video and you should get back up and running.

There are others that claim to help fix the problems but I haven't used them yet so i won't recommend them.

I knew some how that android was not returning control to my internal mic after unplugging my headphones or headset, and couldn't find the answer anywhere for switching the internal back on.Disable headphone app did the trick. Thank you!

Hey I know this is a late post, received the Google pixel 2xl second hand, it runs perfect and the screen is fine. However, the audio seems to be out of touch. I can't play any music or anything. No sound. Sound comes out for like 2 seconds and then goes inaudible and quiet. Very tiny sound from the top speaker but none from the bottom. Idk what to do. I've researched and can't find a solution. Maybe its a hardware issue? Hope I can get a reply. Thank you.

I have a Samsung galaxy note 8 and I tried all of these and had no luck. Had another look on the Internet and someone suggested blowing into the USB port and it worked! Crazy! Something so simple after all!

Hey Mike, so this problem started yesterday (non-stop raining) in my area. The audio in call is very choppy. For few seconds i can hear the person's voice then the next few seconds complete silence. I have full signal connection. My internet is very slow (started from yesterday too).
I don't know if this because of the constant raining or hardware problems. When i googled, it says i might have bandwidth problem.
Before this i never had any problem. Everything else works fine. Just the audio in a call and my internet.
What do you think ?

So I cant hear people through a phone call unless its on speaker phone. I tried factory reset, replaced earpiece, turned off google voice, and cleaned the headphone jack. I even used apps that produce sound out of the ear piece from a video and not call but no sound. Also apps that disabled headphone

I do really need help about this annoying issue I'm dealing with
• I have an Xperia L2 (Android 7.1.1, Nougat)
• It loses its audio capacity very often. What do I mean with this?
• Sometimes, I don't hear any kind of sound coming from the speakers. Even, calls are blocked
• I cleaned the jack input
• The receiver (Person), can't hear the WhatsApp audio on his mobile. The microphone didn't record, I guess
• Even in safe mode, the issue persists If the audio is cut off randomly, probably I think, it's a software issue.
The only method to temporary fix it, is to plug an earphone or alike.
Please, this is driving me crazy!!!
Hi Mike. My issue is I can hear audio on my phone except for one. It is a mp3 voice recorder. It is indicating that it is playing with the sound equalizer; however, I can't hear anything, just from this audio. Any ideas?

Hello mike thanks for this video. I have this problem that when I make or receive a call the other person can not hear. If I use the loud speaker then they can here. The mic seems to shut off in the call. Mic is fine when tested. Factory reset worked for a day or two and the problem resurfaced. Google assistant is off. Never used it. Can you give any advice please.

hi there I have a Huawei phone and I'm looking for videos to help my issue! whenever I call someone if I'm lucky enough I get to hear them for about 10 seconds but after a weird sound comes on which doesn't allow me to call as I can't hear them do you know how to fix that?

Hi there! I have a problem with my phone's speaker. Since two days if I use my speaker in a phone call or if I watch a video or listen to any kind of media the volume just goes down until I don't hear anything. But if I press the volume up or down buttons it shows on the screen that the volume is at maximum but I still don't hear anything. The problem only occurs when I use my speaker if I have a call without the speaker on or I use headphones or some bluetooth speakers everything is fine. It's just super annoying and I don't understand why it keeps happening. It just started randomly during a phone call.

I have samsung galaxy note 4, voice recording shows no audio, when I call someone, I can hear them but they can't hear me. None of the tips above are working for me.
Dead mic or dirty headset socket stopping the mic working? Try soundabout or audiorouter to force the audio to mic, or try cleaned the headset port with a tooth pick or tooth brush.
Hey Mike. My problem is that i can hear some calls but another time i cant hear the caller not the caller can hear me. And when i restart my phone, we both can hear. Can u detect the problem? I went through your other video but i have the same problem.
it will be one of the apps taking over the mic / audio control, hard to say what one it is, but the google home or google assistant app is likely
Open Settings
Click Permission Or Type Permission.
You can see Permission.
Click on it.
You see Microphone
Give permission for all aap.

hi, i have lenovo s60 i can record & listen audio from recorder, Whatsapp, IMO calls are also working.. but when i record videos from camera i can't listen audio or if i call from sim the person can;t hear me...I RESET PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS BUT IT DID'T WORK PLEASE HELP...

Hello, no sound in voice calls in my phone I have tried it bt nt working they can't hear my voice plss help me..
I tried it didn't work. There was dust in my speaker so I couldnt hear calls. I got a safety pin and cleared the dust. Also used a dry toothbrush can hear calls now. Hope it works for you!
well I bought a brand new phone and for some reason when I call the other side couldn't hear me.... I know it wasn't a dirty mic because its brand new, so I was checking every setting and every app permission took me almost a whole day, then I noticed when I tried to make a call the Mic Mute button was highlighted, I must of pressed it when I was calling by accident, the new phone has a very touch sensitive screen.... so haha yeah make sure the mic isn't muted while calling!

My issue is that I lose sound out when I connect my newly bought Boya M3 usb C mic. I am blown away that it even do that, is there a solution for this or do I have to return this mic?
does the mic have an audio output? it might be defaulting to that output whilst connected, some mics do that
@@mikesunboxing I mean it's a USB C m3 Boya. It look very basic and no switches on it to change anything. I just wonder if it's a limitation of the usb C port itself. I will return it and go for the BY-M1 mic with a usb c adapter to 3,5. I hope that will work otherwise I don't know. I can't be the only one wanting to hear my phone while also having functioning mic?

I'm having a mic problem, I've tried almost everything but nothing seems to work, if I make or receive a call no one can me hear me but I can hear them I can't send voice notes or use any voice command features but I can be heard fine with earphones on

hey Mike ! i am facing a very typical problem with my Nokia 6.1 plus mic.
once i am calling to someone, mic working properly, but if i would call again to anyone else then mic. wouldn't work. then again it would work and then sudden it would stop to work. (9.0 pie updated phone)

Did you try to disable the ok Google feature? And I think on those phones disabling the Dolby helps.

some phones can't multitask well so when the app is closed or minimised it goes to sleep
I uploaded the text now app and called the house phone and the mic works. It also works in videos. Google mic understands me. so its the phone app that comes with the phone. I don't know what to do next cant reinstall it

maybe try resetting all the mic permissions then re enable the ones you need this sometimes helps? I did a quick video on this today

You probably have some water in the microphone, you could try a very small piece of tissue/fabric to see if you can absorb it, or leave it in dry rice overnight, trying not to let any rice get into the outlets. Let us know how you get on.

if it is the mic it is possible it is a hardware failure and the mic needs replacing. If you do a factory reset and don't install any apps and the mic works, it is a software conflict

Hi Pilatus I would recommend first make sure the contact points are all cleaned and try using some alcohol or electrical contact cleaner to make sure it is perfectly clean and all the prongs make good contact.
Also do the same for the USB port and maybe try using a different cable just to eliminate that as a potential problem.
If all that doesn't work, you are best off trying to contact the seller and requesting a replacement or refund.
Any idea how to remedy this problem:
I have a samsung note 9 when I am on Loudspeaker in a call the person on the other end cannot always hear me it's intermittent with words in a conversation, sounds like I am million miles away, cuts out completely or can be muffled. The phone is all up to date on updates and speakers aren't blocked, its sat on my dash in truck so nothing restricting speakers and both myself and the other side have full signal. Please could you help as it is making my life very difficult.
it is the same hand held in the truck? is it trying to use a bluetooth mic or something, or maybe noise cancelling is overly strong?

I have a Moto Z2 Play I think it is Oero version and Android version 8.0.0, my speaker and talking audio does not work neither does my headphone jack. The phone is only about 15 months old. It is updated to the latest version and I have rebooted it to no avail. I hate to just throw it away everything else works nice on it. Could this be a motherboard issue?

Thank you for your quick response. I have not changed the SIM card, but I have put the SIM in my other phone and it works fine. This is a problem that when I turn the phone on the sound will work for only a few calls then boom.. nothing. I hate to just disregard a $500 phone. Should I change the motherboard.
What mobile network are you on. Do they have specific sim roaming setting?

on simple fix for me was reset the phone. Hold the power button and wait.

not really much more you can do other than a factory reset to see if it is software or hardware. I guess you have disabled bixby already

try to disable the google assistant, or turn off noise cancelling. this may help?
I'm on Android vs 6 and although I have found and deactivated "OK Google" it still works when I say Ok Google.
So basically the de-actification method does not work!

if you stopped the okay google feature but it still responds to ok google then you haven't stopped the service, it may work differently in marshmallow, i will admit i am no expert in version 6, but try and find the google voice and voice training section, it should be in there somewhere. @everyone Anyone else reading this have MM and can give some advice?

After much diagnosing I have concluded that the remove google voice fix didn't resolve my problem. I did find a way to stop the google voice option which I will share for the benefit of others - Just hold the google bar until you can move it and then put it in the bin! No google voice bar, No ok google mic! I then replaced the google bar with a Chrome shortcut for easy google search access.
The problem I have is very unusual, On any call (recieved or made) my speaker does not work unless I use the speaker phone option and then my call is fine. basically I can only use speaker phone option :-( . I tried a factory reset in case it was one of my apps causing the problem but that did not resolve the issue, sadly I still have not found a way to resolve this problem yet and so if you know of any way I can fix this I would be really grateful. For the record I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (love this phone even if a little old now).

I have discovered just a moment ago that there is no issue when using a headset that is plugged in to the jack socket. I wonder if there are two speakers on this model and one of them is defunct!

Ok I have tried SoundAbout and this did not fix my issue, tried the "let app decide" option on calls and then tried the "Use the speaker" option and it still didn't work. I am 100% sure that I have a broken small speaker. Fortunately it wasn't long ago that I bought this phone and it has a warranty and so I will contact the seller now to resolve this problem. Purchased a Umidigi F1 7 weeks ago and for the last week speaker for earpiece worked intermittently and now it's not working at all. The earpiece stopped working. I tried a restart and it didn’t work. I even tried a factory reset but without any luck. The earpiece was still have a problem.

Try all the usual things cleaning the microphone port and checking for any obstructions this might help what other things have you tried to resolve the problem

There is an app on the play store that will generate high frequency tones to force the water out of speakers, give in a quick search on playstore.

probably a permissions thing, one of your apps is using the mic or earpiece when the call comes in and it doesn't switch back for the phone app. you need to see which app is misbehaving

I think that most people will research their problems on a working device? If not the closed captioning will pick up the audio and convert it to text.

Sorry it said in the first question that it works when you plug in the earbuds and from that i was thinking you were meaning the physical plugging in of a jack plug. I guess you have a bluetooth set then?

hello mike, i have tried this.. i can hear everything during a video. But in my sound recording or whatsapp sound voice record. What seems to come is just buzzes. Your quick response is really appreciated
buzzing is normally from dirt of debris on the mic and it distorts the audio, but you say it works okay in video?
@@mikesunboxing yes, it does work in video. Later, i found there are 2 microphones. My microphone below(noise cancellation mic) is the one that is broken. So i cant answer phone calls from ear, but through speaker mode because this automatically switches the both mic on. Any methods u can think of within your experience? ( Mic problem )
Can you disable noise cancelling? If so does that work?

U guys I found a solution just let your phone battery go to %0 and turn it on again and it'll fix!

I get so annoyed that all these vids on this subject have the nerve to include "make sure your microphone is working" or "make sure your speaker isn't clogged with debris" - what kind of a moron do they take us for!!! Here's the story: my buddy and I have the same cheap android phones. When we call landline phones, the person on the landline can hear us but we can't hear them. They call us right back using the landline, and then we can hear them. What's that all about??? They're T2 Blades made by Smart Mobile if that helps. Thank you in advance.
might be VOIP call software issue if it works via landline that doesn't use that protocol, so likely a software bug either not engaging the audio chip when it needs to

Just a matter of finding out what app is not behaving as intended. If you backup and erase the phone and try it with no extra apps installed to confirm it works okay then add a app or two and carry on testing you should be able to work out what app it is that messes the phone up, or try using a different dialer app for the phone that sometimes helps

I had a flip phone for a while, but the service provider kept raising their rates until it simply got too expensive to keep.
My provider charges me £5 a month for what I use that is more than enough 😀

read the title and description, it is for no sound in calls, that doesn't mean no sound at all. And that is explained in the video which by the way also have subtitles

@@debrawallenberg980 there are subtitles on the video for youtube viewers, but sorry i cant help with your specific problem, but it might be worth trying some of the things in the video. especially checking if the mic jack or headset port is dirty or stuck
