Blacksmithing: Forging a Triskel

A video on hand-forging a triskel. It's my first attempt at this, it's a finicky little one, but a very enjoyable process!

He wouldn't say that at all. It is the most basic set of jump welds. Nice guy but not impressed with his welding skills. Sorry.

Basic but historic forging. I have two powerhammers and a hydraulic press in my shop. This sort of work makes my equipment blush. The true essence of it all?? You see it right here. Looks easy doesn’t it? Ha! Very well done!

Did you attack it without borax? or did I miss something?

I don't use flux for welding mild steel or wrought iron, though it can be useful when welding sheet to heavy stock.

I’ve been trying to get tomahawks to forge weld but I keep messing it up. Anyway you said you use it for mild steel do you also not use flux for carbon steel.

The Triskel predates Christianity. It is known as the earliest spiritual symbol. It's also found on stone carvings in Newgrange here in Ireland, which is at least 5,200 years old.

It is mostly anticipated as sign of unity and used in coats-of-arms e.g. like that of the Isle of Man etc.
The use of a physical one is beyond me. 😮
