      Solid video, Tim. Hey dude, try out some 3/4" rubber electrical splicing tape for wrapping your grip. It's not the normal black electrical tape you are probably thinking of. It's rubber, very stretchy, tacky, very durable, and insulates well. About 8$ for a 15' roll at Menards or any store like that. I'm betting you will like it alot. I'm an Electrician so I always have some on hand, but it took me awhile to realize I should use it for grip tape lol.

    I shoot with the stan solex. I love it. I bought one after i watched your video reviewing it. I have mine short like you do. I hook my second knuckle around the trigger. It has made my shooting so much more consistant. I highly recommend the stan solex for anyone that shoots a index release. I havent made the jump to a hinge or thumb release yet. Im just nervous about losing arrows!! And losing my consistency.

    A hinge is tempting, but the way you have to go about breaking the release for the shot makes me think I'd punch myself in the face a few times trying to draw my bow back. Great video as always guys. Thank you for bringing us along

    Tim, you made a great comment about “shooting in the lab” to get yourself grounded. I think many people fail to spend time working the foundations of archery. If you don’t get the foundations of stance, balance, grip, anchor and sight picture in a stress free environment, what chance to you really have in the field.
    I equate the setting of the foundation in archery to the foundation of a good golf swing. If you don’t spend time at the range hitting balls and ingraining the fundamentals of the swing…what chance do you really have of scoring well.
    Put in the time (at either range) intentionally working on the basics…then stepping into the heat of competition will come much easier.
    Keep up the good work.

    Hey Brother. Great video as always. Congrats on your whitetail hunting success. And your other hunts as well. I've always shot with a wrist strap release. and I'm currently using a Tru-fire Smoke Max. But it doesn't adjust down far enough for me to actually get my finger all the way around the trigger. I'm gonna have to find one with a strap adjustment like yours with dual calipers. That way I can really fine tune the length from the wrist to the jaws. I'm starting to lean towards going with the TKO's myself. Those, or the Easton Axis 5mm. That's a great tip of getting the .006 for practice, then the .001 for actually hunting with. Most archers wouldn't really be able to tell the difference, including myself. But, it is a great way to save a few dollars if you can tell or just want to shoot the best available arrows. Thanks for showing us what you've had success with. I can be an influence for others to try different things.

    • @TimConnor13
      @TimConnor13  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you’re using a loop stick the the hook style release.. dual calipers were designed to be snapped on a string (old tech).. thanks for watching my dude

    • @papaschuette
      @papaschuette 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TimConnor13 My Tru-Fire is a dual caliper design. And the only design I've ever shot. I actually prefer it that way because once I'm clipped on, it doesn't have a chance of coming off. I just found the Scott Echo that looks like a very good candidate for what I'm looking for. Do you know anything about it?

    Lizard skin is awesome. Wrapped my son's baseball bat with that and realized how grippy it was. I had to use it on my V3X. Also if anyone's wondering what Shot Trainer Tim is using. It's a MD50 gear archery shot trainer. I believe podium archer has it on the website. It's really nice to have when away from the range. You can set it up to your draw length and it has tension due to the surgical rubber that they use.

    Tim, I've been a long long time lurker/follower. Been watching you for awhile now and have come to respect your opinion. In the last 18mo I've had a Terrain, EnVision, EVO EVL, Omnia, and now I am shooting a Revex 4. The EnVision was MEH at best, the Inline was good, just didnt wow me. The EVL was nice but I DESPISED the grip, The Omnia was really nice, but at 44 and with slowly worsening R shoulder issues (Service injury) and a L torn bicep tendon repair....the bow was hurting me. I could have stuck with the EVL, but....outside of the hold it didnt wow me. I stuck with the Omnia for awhile, and really liked it, but it was really starting to irritate my forearm where the repair was done. For sh!ts & giggles I went and shot a Revex 4/RVX4, VTM33, SS34, and Lift. Went home with the Revex. Have you had any time on one? If so, what did you think about it?

    Man I love ya Timmy and I’ve been following along since you joined elk shape, but this is “gear of the year” which apparently means 1.5 minutes of coffee making, 12 minutes of talk about learning a hinge, then a couple product shoutouts at the end. This one almost felt like false advertising.

  • @Oleman72
    @Oleman72 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Here is a challenge I am putting out to see if anyone would do it. I would love to see a score comp of the flagship bow of the year against the budget bow of the year for 2023. A paper target at 50 yards and a score on each bow. Factors like hand shock does not factor in when you are shooting a animal you don't even notice it. But that way we could put a honest value per point for each bow. But it would take someone honest. It would make a great video.

    I don't know many who shoot a hinge that I can ask but... do you shoot it off ur pinky? I find that's the best for me... I push/pull+close my pinky... try to close ur pinky finger without moving ur ring finger.. dont work huh?
    Or are you releasing pressure off ur index?
    (Hard to tell in the video, looks like you subconsciously use ur pinky)
    I've just been playing around alot and want some more opinions
