People talk about the ‘good old days,’ but I’m old enough to know that they weren’t always that great. I started smoking cigars back in the 1980's and probably ruined a humidor by seasoning it using the ‘wipe it down with a damp cloth’ technique. This is a great advancement, and clearly the way to go!

Highly recommend you properly season that new box ! I have always used the old school way . Never damaged the humidor , but , the humidity varied drastically for months before it finally stabilized . Season with Boveda !!! Even if it costs more for the Boveda than the humidor costs , do it . Ultimately your CIGARS are the real investment . Treat em right and enjoy ! Awesome channel , great content 👍👍

I bought a cheap wooden humidor of Amazon and used the Boveda starter packs and the 72’s after the two weeks. Soon after I noticed the humidity wasn’t holding properly at all. I contacted Boveda and they sent me for free some 75’s, and a hygrometer calibration kit. After some frustration I gave up on the wood humidor and switched to a tupperdor with Boveda packs and it’s been perfect. Boveda’s customer service was great and they didn’t have to send me anything free, but they did and that’s pretty damn cool!

My first humidor I used the liquid provided by manufacturer with the gel beads. Although it worked the variation seemed tough to control. Then I soaked it down with "winter" solution and re-seasoned. I saw this video and when I got my new humidor at Christmas from the same manufacturer I decided to try the Boveda kit. So far so good. Humidity in my house is in the mid 40% range. I threw 4 84% packs into my 100 cc humidor. After 48hrs it is at 75%. These packs work so well that I bought a couple 72% for my tupperware and 1st humidor to maintain humidity around 68%.

Hey, Tim. I recently won the Liga Privada T-52 humidor in a cigar festival raffle and have a quick question. Thanks to the video with you and Nate from Boveda, i know how to season with Boveda. I have 1 small concern. On the top portion of the humidor, there is a small space in the back of it that would let the humidification out. Should i be concerned? As you may or may not know, the top of the humidor is magnetic and comes off easily. I just don't want my cigars to dry out or lose humidity. Thanks in advance!!

I ended up going old school method as that was what how my kit came, seasoned with distilled water, calibrated my hydrometer (one analogy and one digital) with the salt cap method to 75%RH and used distilled water and PG liquid in my humidifier. of course leaving 48 ours between each step of seasoning, acclimating and then sensors in and then humidifier. its been a couple weeks now of back and forth testing but I can seem to get my humidor down below 75-80%RH. I'm concerned I have over seasoned and or (more likely) my humidifier may be too large for my humidor (its the one that came with my Savinelli desktop humidor- potentially 50 cigar capacity). I have doubts about this as its the one that came with it but I have a smaller humidifier I can down size to. Does anyone have any times or tricks that could help me, I am now to this! thanks in advance.

We just bought a 20-30 count humidor for a relative that we’re going to give to him for Christmas. I found out about the 84% Boveda packs when I was in my local B&M grabbing a couple cigars to put in tbe humidor for him, so I grabbed one of the packs to get him started. Could seasoning a humidor be any more simple? What a great idea!

I like the concept, but 2 weeks??? I'd rather use the distilled water and wait the 24hours. I still use the packs even after re-seasoning...

    What about an electric humidor?

They have one for that if I'm not mistaken. Think it's one less step.

Just buy the number of 84% packs you need, wait the two weeks and put the packs with the percentage you need in them.

I need help I have absolutely tried everything I got my first Humidor a few months ago and I have done the seasoning and let it sit for 2 weeks. And it gets up to 70% then once I add my cigars into the Humidor I notice it started dropping. I’m running out of ideas

This is not the easiest seasoning way. It is too long. You take at least 2 full weeks, whereas using water and a sponge you can do it absolutely faster!

Analog hygrometers work, I’ve proved it, my assumption is these guys that don’t like them never properly seasoned a humidor before using them.
    My analog is fairly accurate.

BUYER BEWARE!!! product works well for a while, then it stops!!! both Temp and Humidity go off and your cigars die!! i am now out $560 and the vendor just sends me canned email responses and tells me to go to the reseller!!! Wayfair, which is even worse of a company!!! I am going to Consumer protection Agencies to at least get some of my money back. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS vendor. save your money and spare your cigars
