- Its finally time for an update on those baby carp I rescued from the flooded field. In the video we have a re-cap on where it all began with the fish rescue and few months ago and we look at where the fish are now. I built a raised pond to be able to raise these fish at home until they get too big and have to move on.

Hold back on 1% they spend on the trash shows they put on and have Sir Ginger, Carl, Adventurer George and 2 others.
It's cheap TV and better than rubbish like Chelsea or what ever they have on.

Definitely recommend keeping perch/pike, I’ve been keeping a perch and a pike in a 225L aquarium for the past 2-3 months having caught them as babies along side a tench and 4 Rudd, been a joy to see them grow and behave like they would in the wild, esp when they hunt !! Feed them live minnows I catch in the local stream ( perch will only eat live and pike definitely prefers live).
I’m in the process of training perch to feed off frozen thawed, it’s 1 step forward 2 steps back
There was a belting one in Bolton museum! Huge roach ,rudd ,perch and chub , dont know if it's still there
@jangolab3716 Have you ever tried with frozen shrimp? When i have perch in my aquarium they tear it up before it nearly hits the water. Sounds odd to me that you can only get your perch to eat live... I agree with pike. But perches should'nt be a problem to feed with dead things.. 🤟

You are a star. I have carried out my own fish rescues when others wouldn’t help. Carl of course is now a proper fish keeper and I am sure will help with any advice on filters and water quality to keep them growing…just like your family!❤

Crucians are super long living - I caught one from a mates farm pond as a kid in the 90's - it still lives in my dads garden pond today! Great stuff!

You could use an IBC with the top cut off , you can pick them up for £20-30, aluminium frame that you can clad with wood, would make a good solid free standing pond!

Carp will do just fine in the river at any size. They are invasive along all our river systems in Australia. Somewhere like where you released the pike would be heaven for young carp.
Oh dear, you gonna get the fish keeping bug, won't be long before they eating from hand and swimming upto you all exited, trust me Ive been there, but I wouldn't trust that linner , come the cold weather, get a proper one from your nearest aquatics centre and use it inside existing, great vid ,have loved following this rescue adventure👍👍

Cool pond! I have a pond waiting to be built but need a pumps etc hoping to a video on it aswell if anyone is interested . Good luck with keeping it sealed shame the company didn’t check that.

Might need a net lid on there mate, pet shop I worked at had a few cold water ponds and we’d come in the morning to find the odd dried up ghostie on the floor

I would definitely suggest a perch bud, they are so much fun having in a pond and watching them feed, I had perch and pike in my 600l tank and pike are a bit boring 🥱

Congratulations on the new addition. Looking forward to seeing these fish progress. I have a couple of what were wild carp in my pond they came with some weed I got years ago they were tiny things... now I would be very pleased to catch them whilst fishing.
You absolute legend! Congrats on the new addition and what sterling work the E.A should have been doing for the license fees, that you've personally undertook, with great skill and compassion. Getting to catch em all to release safe too, and now to rear to adulthood to set free later and some as pets for a time. Hats off to you dude! Clap Clap!

Good job there, I don't think a pike would do very well, but couple of perch would do fine, they're happier in a group, then see if you can add sticklebacks or minnows to breed in there for easy food - then worms for hand feeding 👍 I put some guppies in my pond yearly over the summer, some get eaten, some breed, tricky to catch back out though as obviously they cant survive autumn/winter

I was thinking after the rescue video that you could have left bottle/minnow traps between the nettings (but only if you knew you were definitely coming back at a certain time) to gather a few more fry - maybe for the next time though? Because, with our changing climate, there will be a next time.

Hi Chris, Thanks for saving these fish, and housing them In a safe place. I would do the same, If I wasn't In a flat. Being on top floor, I am not even aloud a fish Tank. The netting went well here, we managed to get nearly all of the fish that got stranded. If I were you, I would look to putting these In the Forgotten Pond, with the Other Big Carp In It. Don't forget. we will be Into another Winter of Floods. And this might be an on going thing saving fish from those Ponds that will accumulate In that same field. Keep 'Em Coming.

Have you ( must) you contacted the Government Environmental agency if you are going to release the fish back into the river and pond systems.Disease spreading they are concerned about.Hope everything works out fir you mate.👍
