  • WELCOME BACK TO MY CHANNEL!
    This vlog is 100% one of the reasons why I wanted to start a You Tube channel. To be able to bring to life the exact way I eat and shop. I'm incredibly passionate about my diet and lifestyle, you'll see that in this vlog. I have a lengthy chat to Steve Hook about the incredible benefits of Raw Milk too. So, sit back and come food shopping with me..
    Thanks so much for watching, I really hope you enjoy it

    I make my own sourdough. That way I know everything that goes into it, as a lot of bakeries that sell sourdough add emulsifiers to improve the bread instead of waiting for the natural process. Given emulsifiers are so bad for your gut I want to avoid them at all costs. I also make my own sourdough discard crackers, English muffins etc. I love making my own processed foods at home so I know exactly what goes into it. I have to say Mr Hook is an absolute gem. It would be great to see more of him on the channel or podcast.

    Hi Donna, as far as I know, flour and flour-based products (especially white flour, which loses its micronutrients during processing) sold in England are legally required to be fortified with certain minerals according to The Bread and Flour Regulations (1998).

    Hello Donna ! I literally drunk all the words during the great conversation you had with the farmer. Thank you for sharing it! I live in France, was raised with raw milk from my uncle's farm. Now, getting some raw milk can look like the surch of the holy Gral 🤭, unfortunately... and amen to your lifestyle. I cook almost everything by myself, including sourdough bread. It's so important for our health but also as parents to show the exemple and pass the baton to the next generation. We only have one body and there is no planet B. Again, thank you🙏 for sharing the best way to live the simple healthy life of a non ultra processed woman ❤. Best regards from France 🇫🇷.

    OMG! The expiration date on the bread is 12/05/2024! Today is the first of June. Here in the states, when you buy bread, it only lasts for a couple weeks at best!! How does it keep that long! I was told to take the route of a Mediterranean diet because of cholesterol levels. I did and they have improved. I have a sourdough starter but have had it in the fridge asleep. I am definitely going to wake it up and get busy! I am lactose intolerant but have been wondering about raw milk. I am definitely going to try that as well. 🤗 I’m a first timer here! So glad you popped up on my feed. Your skin is beautiful, by the way. New sub for sure! 💜

      I’m in AZ…and the labels are so deceptive…especially as requirements are different for every food group. No one can keep up… I’m afraid of sourdough starter going bad because my new mama brain makes me so cautious of food (like is there bacteria growing on my one day old leftovers etc). I know some of this is just my brain learning and will fade but 🤪🤪🤪🤪

    I love the book Ultra Processed People - what an eye opener that was! I suffer with psoriasis of the toe nails and have a lot of problems with knees and elbows that I believe are caused by inflammation in my body, so I found this vlog super interesting.
    Sourdough - 100% agree with you there and the supermarket Sour Faux breads drive me mad, when I moved to the country last year, I really struggled to get proper Sourdough but thankfully we have a delivery from a lovely bakery in Lincoln to our village once a week.
    I don't drink cow's milk and I don't agree with taking the colostrum but I have to say, the farmer was very interesting to listen to.
    Yes please to recipes from the things you buy. Might be obvious but you mentioned buying mint for mint tea - is it literally just a few mint leaves and boiling water? Sorry if that's a sill question.

    I loved watching this! I live in Canada and we have a good selection of organic farms here. I shop local as well and order an organic food box each week. Raw milk I don't think is allowed here? I'm not sure. And I too try and eat an anti-inflammatory diet, mostly avoiding gluten, it hurts my joints! When I visited London I went to Waitrose, loved it 😊🍎

    Ok only part way through but if I wait until the end I’ll forget what I want to say 😂. The talk about raw milk was fab - definitely interested in more insight like this from the actual source. Bread - I buy the M&S ciabatta loaf from their fresh bakery section and last time I looked it said ingredients are flour, water, salt and that’s all, sourdough is too ‘bready’ for me. I love M&S 100% chunky peanut butter but read recently that it is omega 6 which is inflammatory and cancels out omega 3 - which I take to lower inflammation 😐 Any knowledge on this as I’m now very confused. Ok back to the vlog .. I may have more questions - you are the only TH-camr I watch where I have a pen and pad ready to make notes 😂

    • @donnabartoli
      @donnabartoli  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi my love.. haha ok, will answer the first half. Glad you enjoyed the talk, when you say source, what do you mean? Steve Hook is the source, he raises the cows and organically grass feeds them. When you say fresh bakery, M&S don’t have any on-site bakery’s. They part bake bread, freeze it then ship it to the stores to be finished, heated before selling. When I talk about bread in the vlog, I mention about supermarkets only using fortified flour, which will be the case in M&S too but as long as it doesn’t contain preservatives or sugar then you’re good. And about the peanut butter. Yes it’s a source of Omega 6 but that’s something our body can’t make and is essential for brain function and heart health. We need small quantities of it daily so peanut butter is a great source for it. Yes it can fight with omega 3 for digestive enzymes but only if you’re eating a diet high in omega 6. A portion of peanut better a day won’t have any effect on inflammation whatsoever, in fact it’ll be a great addition to your anti-Inflammatory journey x

    • @debfletcher2607
      @debfletcher2607 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@donnabartoli thank you, I’ll be back on the 100% peanut butter! Yes when I said talks with the source I meant producers like the lovely Steve Hook who actually raise/grow the product. Interesting how you can buy foreign raw cheese products in supermarkets but not British raw milk. Thanks for another great vlog 🦋

    I have questions! What do you think about veganism or the gluten-free diet? A lot of people cannot eat gluten or meat. Thanks! 😊

    • @donnabartoli
      @donnabartoli  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi my love.. ok, these are good questions. In my opinion, and please take this as my opinion, people that can’t eat meat have chosen not to. There are only very rare medical conditions where people physically can’t eat meat. When it comes to gluten, I understand that a lot of people are intolerant to it but a lot of cases can be resolved by healing the gut. Almost everything in our bodies is centred around our gut and its condition. Millions of people are living with low micro biome and leaky gut from the diets we are consuming today.

    • @donnabartoli
      @donnabartoli  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I forgot to reply about veganism. Put it this way, there are thousands of people daily that are now reverting back to eating meat because they are physically unwell from the lack of nutrients they haven’t got from the vegan diet. I don’t believe at all that people should consume a “meat” substitute if they are going to be vegan. So much of the vegan food now is ultra processed. But, I also haven’t eaten meat for 5 years now because the mass farming industry makes me angry.

    I eat mostly raw fruit and vegetables and do my green juicing every few days so I always have it in the refrigerator. It’s addictive if u add apples!! I also had a specialist doctor who told me not to eat gluten to help my thyroid problems which also helps the gut, the immune system and inflammation. I can always tell when I eat something with gluten by mistake. You might want to try gluten-free and see if that helps you. I am also vegan so don’t eat milk or cheese of any kind.

    So disappointing to see the segment about colustrum, dairy farming is one thing but to hear that farmer clearly explain that it is imperative that the calf gets it within the first 6hrs or it's more likely to die and SOMETIMES the mother will produce surplus to what the calf can drink... And for you then to go away and relay that to the camera as the cow always produces more than the calf needs and you absolutely must have it was mind blowing 🤦🏾‍♀️
    Humans are nothing if not greedy
    I hope this doesn't become a trend
