I don’t understand why people watch your show then criticize you after. If someone doesn’t like what you do then they don’t have to watch. There’s no reason for anyone to be critical of someone brave enough to put themselves out there trying to do something new. Keep up the good work I say!

Sometimes you need to strip everything out in order to progress, to make things safe for future construction. I’m just sorry that for your first renovation this turned out to be the case. The silver lining is knowing that once the old is removed and new materials put in you’re sure of having a sound home. I’m so pleased at how you’re progressing Ryan, keep on keeping on!

Great job today Ryan. Out with the old and soon in with the new. I will be honest, I would probably make a bigger mess than you did trying to get it all down before taking it out to the dump. I don't know of any construction workers that takes the time to place each and every piece down nicely, their work would take forever and never get done on time. So for those who think that renovation is an easy mess-free job, I would like to see them get their behind off the chair/couch or wherever they watch this from and try it. You are doing a GREAT job by yourself Ryan, keep at it. Have a great day

Been there myself. I ripped out all floors, subfloors, walls, the whole double-brick rear wall of the house, electrical, plumbing, roof, dug a new basement, and more. Just about the only thing untouched in the construction of my home was literally one bedroom and one closet. EVERYTHING else got ripped out and redone. Literally and figuratively. All of it. All while my wife was pregnant with a second child and I just quit my job and cut my income down to zero. This was in 2007 during the unprecedented US market crush and the being of a depression. great work as always
Stay safe and buy or loan a small scaffold tower.
it will save you a lot of time struggling in the future with dry wall and painting.

I’m so excited to see that you are progressing on your own much of the time now. It’s the best way to learn, don’t you think? And the clean up after make everything look so neat and tidy and ready for another day’s work. Kudos to you, Ryan. I wish you the best with this renovation.👍😁

Hi Ryan, I love your channel. I am a serial renovator, or I should say my OH is, I just watch. We have renovated 3 derelict stone houses in rural Wales, and we had all the rotton joists and plaster I want in this lifetime! Having been there, and got the splinters it makes Ryans adventures very special.
BTW to those who suggest Ryans spouse joins him - don't. I recall one in our first renovation, winter cold and damp with a temporary ceiling of plastic sheet that blew a raspberry and showered us in dead woodlice falling out thecrotton rafters with every gust of wind. A matress on the floor, a 1kw hot air heater, No kitchen or bathroom. There were tears, and a lovely landlady in a farmhouse pub took us in (invluding 17 yo dog) for the weekend, and her husband lit a huge fire and made us some fine pub grub. We were very lucky, but don't underestimate how hard it can be in the winter!

It's obvious that you need to have. Help . Like Billy. Because with having no experience in building and organising a build. However I Totally admire you for trying, just keep concentrating on the job in hand, and flitting from post to post. Good luck.

What a job! Billy is a great friend to lend a hand! 💜 Though they don't work as floor joists, I'd hang onto those beams. They look fairly new & I'm all about salvageable wood. (a weekend woodworker) 😊
I think you're remaking a beautiful house & seeing the detailed journey to it's cozy splendor is exciting!

Ryan, i once gave you shit on staying back and letting others do the job. Now i want to say well done into believing in yourself and trying to build this thing on your own. You are much more active in the entire process now and i am glad for that. Keep doing what you are doing and things will fall into place.

I appreciate all the hard work you and your friends put into this renovation. The key is to not get discouraged, and I'm glad to see you carrying on. I don't see any big deal about you breaking the window shade mechanism (or it's cover if that's the case). I thought it was ugly to begin with. I kind of chuckled when those joists hit it when coming down, as I've broken things when renovating too... usually it's something like a window or something, so you did much better than me. Cheers!
