Sometimes visitors will ask us, “There must not be much to see in winter, right?" While it's true that the blooms sleep for the season, this is a serene and beautiful time to visit the Preserve. Our native plants don't disappear during the cold months; they simply change in appearance. Walking the trails in the quiet winter, evergreens like Christmas fern (Polystichum acrostichoides) and Canada hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) line your path. Winterberry holly (Ilex verticillata) stretches out its leafless branches and bares bright red berries. Wildlife like red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and eastern gray squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) scurry through the underbrush, seeking food and play.
If you have not visited the grounds during winter before, come see, and come again during or after snowfall to see them transformed.

Moved from Lower Bucks to Florida. So miss the beauty of fresh falling snow.
