When the music is lighthearted like quiet morning 3:09-4:57 and smile 9:41 - 11:26 I see the beautiful parts of the picture like the moon in the sky. When the music is playful like kimeruze 13:00 - 14:31 and harikitte ikou 11:26 - 13:00 I put my focus on Rena, Mion, Shion, Satoko and Rika. And when it is creepy like main theme 0:00 - 3:09 and suspicion 6:22 - 7:58 the picture distorts, I see shadows move in the woods and the characters suddenly look angrier.
My absolute favorite: 27:49 It has this dread to it. I always have the feeling of something is staring at me while hearing it. It sounds so sad but at the same time you know that something is off.

The lessons I personally got from umineko helped me with my connection with Christ. i know it def sounds weird and cringe. sorry im not comfortable going into more detail.
Every time I listen to this ost I feel, sad, like a weird nostalgic sadness (mainly with the main theme), and that’s weird because until like a year ago, I never knew higurashi was a thing and the reason for that sadness… might be just be that, nostalgia, for a person who love the 2000s this show is everything I love about that era, shows with eerie yet beautiful soundtrack, recognisable and loveable characters, interesting settings and for horror show (when they did it right) truly terrifying moments that stay with you and that’s some thing higurashi nails, with a perfect ost, forever memorable characters, a interesting setting not really seen that much and a just being horrifying. (Ps I could just be talking out of my rear, but if any of you feel the same, let me know)

I love it too. It has that feeling of something tragic that happened in the past. Perfect for a murder mystery anime that takes place in the 1980s.
You can tell from this OST that Higurashi no Naku koro ni Season 1 has its share of horror and light hearted moments.
