The poster at 10:45 you show is the German poster. And he is not a "Poltergeister" but a "Lottergeist" which is a play on Poltergeist which could be translated as "Ruffian Ghost".
He’s actually just breaking the fourth wall, as Keaton just started listing off a few of his own real life accomplishments before the thing about the black plague.
@@therealCrazyJake Considering how many lines Michael Keaton improved, this makes complete sense. Being old enough to have seen- and, of course, have always loved- the original Beetlejuice in theaters, I figured that his response to Adam’s request about his qualifications was part truth, part hilarious annoyance that he was even asked that question to begin with. 😂 PS: Just wanted to add how funny it would have been if he’d claimed to have seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 167 times as opposed to The Exorcist!
Of course. He's mocking them asking for his qualifications. You can tell the part about living through the black plague is probably real because of his change in tone. Now we know in the sequel that it was.
Hi Minty. Im a long time fan. Your videos always get an automatic thumbs up from me. Previously you had asked for some show suggestions. I would be really interested to hearing 10 things about Halloween and other holiday t.v. specials. and tis the season. maybe even other kinds of specials including ABC Saturday specials and such.
Well, I feel that he probably lived and died a few times. And that's how he was able to go to Harvard and drive a tour bus. He probably took advantage of unexpected girls and married them like he wanted to marry Lidia. But that's just my 2 cents
I can not believe how many years I have been watching you… it’s so amazing how I still binge watch and watch all of your videos. So happy thank you Minty mate!! ❤ & support~Indiana girl 🇺🇸
Another excellent video, Minty, nice one. I too never made the connection between Beatlegeuses's striped suit and traditional convict attire. Mind blown! I would also like to say a huge WELL DONE for sticking to it with your wonderful videos. I watch each and every one as soon as I can and always leave a like. I truly hope that things have improved for you on TH-cam as it would be such a great loss should you have abandoned your channel or lessened your content output. Please keep going no matter what, Minty. And thank you for the joy you bring to my home whenever I play one of your lovingly crafted videos.
I always thought the ghouls in the background were just in another waiting room but I never really thought about it too deeply. Im glad you explained it, Pretty cool!
I find the "Lived in multiple timelines" theory rather interesting. In the first film, there is a 'Blink and you'll miss it' moment that when Beetlejuice is reading about the Maitlands in a newpaper. Just before that, the camera pans over what I can guess is Beetlejuice's room and there is a brief shot of multiple copies of the Handbook for the Recently Deceased stacked on a table. Did he steal these handbooks or were they given to him every time he died? If they were given to him, then that means he must've had multiple lives in order to die and get them. Or were they given to him every time he died while he was dead, like when the sandworm ate him near the ending? I have not seen the 2nd movie yet, so these may have already been explained. If so, then disregard this.
I remember going to the theater and seeing Beetlejuice when I was in 5th grade with my sister and my parents and I loved it and I still do. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a great movie too and I don't know if it's true or not but I've heard that there is a 3rd Beetlejuice eventually coming out. That's so awesome that ChopTop was an inspiration for Beetlejuice's character. ChopTop is my favorite TCM character...I just love when ChopTop and Leatherface go to Stretch and LG's radio station to look for the recording of the Chainsaw attack on the bridge that Stretch recorded and was playing on the air for Leffty.
Omg, i just watched Beetlejuice again w/ my girls last weekend, lol. I actually am old enough to have seen in theaters & it was such an amazing experience. And yes, practical effects hold up 1000x better than CGI. 🥰🥰🥰
Coming to America got screwed. The make up in that movie is unbelievable. It took years for me to realize that Eddie and Arsenio played other characters. Mostly because I was a child at the time but it still holds up today. The only makeup in this movie is on Keaton; everything else is more like a prop.

There are way more people in makeup than just Keaton. The coming to America makeup was good but is nothing compared to Beetlejuice.
When I was a kid I always thought the man in the window was Otho as well. My explanation of him being there was that he had gotten his hands on the book for the recently deceased, allowing him a glimpse into the after life.
When it was released I was given a "Handbook for the recently deceased" text book cover at the premiere. Was the most appropriate cover for my grade 9 math text. Thanks for the memories Minty !
I remember going to see this with my family on a Saturday afternoon. I totally enjoyed this movie. I saw it twice. The second time I saw Beetlejuice was at an old movie theater. It might have been a second run theater because Beetlejuice was released in March. It was in Tara Houte. My other and my brother-in-law? I'm a bit fuzzy on that one. They lived over there in an old house. I've been downstairs where the house had a lot of old stuff. It was really cool to browse the place. I totally want to see the new movie.
Even though the sequel was a bit mid and had it's issues, it was still fun! ANNNND, it gives a WHOLE new context to the wedding scene in the original when he's pulling the ring off the severed finger: "Don't worry about it babe, she meant NOTHING to me!" 🤣🤣🤣 [Decades later] "My ex wife is back, and she is PISSED!!!" I can't imagine why...
Watched the sequel last night..... Meh... It's ok... I can't put my finger on it, but it lacks snappyness, sharper jokes, an emotional anchor to where you can care, the sequel struggles to find a character you can like off the block, and you realise how much our human couple from the first film helps to anchor and care about their experience. The pacing .... It's slow as ass, this film needed editing and the score by elfman could have moved the scenes with a little more energy and transition to the next scene with more success.
I refuse to watch it, on account that Tim Burton didn't bring back the Deetzes because he didn't want to "check boxes". _They were only the main characters of the first Beetlejuice_ . He sure checked the Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder boxes🤨 Also, the fact that he made the sequel 36 years later just smacks of trying to cash in
Funny thing is, the inspiration for how Beetlejuice acted like was Chop Top from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, but Chop Top took inspiration from The Hitchhiker from the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So if you think about it in a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon type of way, Beetlejuice took inspiration from The Hitchhiker from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 😉
Back in the day I had noticed the window looking out of Juno's office and the "people" sitting there, watching and waiting. I had thought it another part of the waiting room, and had also wondered if that was Lotho sitting there somehow.
Back in the 80s we had the best movies not like nowadays, with "THE MESSAGE" and Michael Keaton was brilliant, I loved him in Night Shift and when he was cast as Batman he showed people who were outraged HE was THE Batman
Beetlejuice was the first non-Star Wars movie I saw multiple times in the theater - of course, it was easier back then: at my age at the time, I could get in on a matinee for four bucks and still have a dollar left from my allowance for either a drink or some popcorn - and they used to just leave a movie in theaters if it was still making money, so I remember it sticking around for something like six months! 😲
After seeing the new sequel ’Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ I appreciate the simplicity of the original’s story - which I have loved since the 80s - a ghost couple wants to rid their house of its new inhabitants. The sequel has waaaaay too many complicated plot points going on at the same time.
I llove this movie...I just cant see anyone else but Michael Keaton playing Beetlejujice...Sammy Davis jr?...Dudley Moore? Now Sam KInnison would have been an interesting choice..The way the script was writtien i just dont see the other 2 in that role...Well Beetlejuice will live on forever......
My friends and I were invited to a test screening of Beetlejuice at our mall, and we were blown away. By the way, our mall was featured in a movie called Back To The Future.
I saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the cinema and it was a great sequel totally worth watching it's in modern times but still has that old fashioned Tim Burton charm also most of the original cast are in it it's a sequel done right.
I did. Thought it was an excellent sequel and "bridge" film for a trilogy. "Bob" was an unexpected hit as a non speaking character carried over from the first film. The railroad scene was an amazing blast from the past. Definitely worth the watch, IMO.
You showed 2 different posters when talking about how iconic it is. The upstairs window shades are suddenly fully open when you cut to the closeup. I'm curious which was the absolute original poster. The one you show wide looks like they tried to make the windows on that part of the house look like a face.
Can’t top the original Beetlejuice is iconic and a classic to date
I just said Minty's name three times, and he popped up in my house with his movie memorabilia collection.

Sequel was great comedy which deserves Oscar for its practical fx and costumes and prosthetics!
Not being alive when this movie came out, I'm so glad I was able to be present for the new movie. Both are very fun and unique in their own way 👏
The ghost in the cinema, watching the Juno's office scene looks like the Gangnam Style guy 😎

I always believed Beetlejuice was being sarcastic when saying he went to Harvard Business School.
