I am a firm believer that time travel is not only a possibility but a definite thing. It has to be. I also believe in the multiverse. Traveling back in time, you would arrive at your own past but moving forward, you would skew off in to an alternate timeline thereby not being able to affect your timeline of origin. I have been studying time travel since my preteens and I am now 50. I am working on my own device that not only uses laser light, but a rotating cylindrical electromagnetic field generator. Time travel to the future is a given but to the past, that is a bit harder but also possible.
I don't think it'd create an alternate reality what would happen is spacetime would be bent into a loop and changed into any direction from that point foward, but at the point the loop was created.

Does it have to be a circulating "beam" of light, can't it be something like our Sun. The Sun has been emitting light for millions of years, it has also been spinning on its access for all those years. So it's kind of like a spinning beam of light, isn't it?? Being able to change the past using time travel is impossible and would create an endless time loop like how Dr. Strange bargained with dormammu. It makes no sense. If traveling to the past was possible it would simply create a new universe or a split timeline different from the one you came from. I am a firm believer that time travel is not only a possibility but a definite thing. It has to be. I also believe in the multiverse. Traveling back in time, you would arrive at your own past but moving forward, you would skew off in to an alternate timeline thereby not being able to affect your timeline of origin. I have been studying time travel since my preteens and I am now 50. I am working on my own device that not only uses laser light, but a rotating cylindrical electromagnetic field generator. Time travel to the future is a given but to the past, that is a bit harder but also possible.

Being able to change the past using time travel is impossible and would create an endless time loop like how Dr. Strange bargained with dormammu. It makes no sense. If traveling to the past was possible it would simply create a new universe or a split timeline different from the one you came from.
